Hrmmm ... ok ... well I will think about that maybe, but for the immediate future if I am going to notice a difference with just buying the SSD then I will do that for now. Tbh ... if I am going to notice a difference only after changing memory and CPU then sometime in the future I will just build a new PC with an I series processor and some better memory etc. I wouldn't say that the PC is terribly slow, but after using 7 on my work laptop or my colleagues PC (which is of similar spec, but with a SATA HDD) and then going home and using my desktop you notice a difference. My motherboard does support SATA 2 thankfully . Well yes, my motherboard will support DDR2 800, so I might even look at upgrading the RAM. It was quite cheap recently, not sure if it still is. Will have to have a look. Tom

Well, that's good to know. Well that's definitely the way to see it, an investment. Well new PC .... if I get it. The specs aren't too bad, and good enough for what I use it for. But I do fing it a bit slow to respond etc that I can only really put down to the HDD with those specs. OK, well based on the specs of this SSD OCZ Technology 60GB Vertex Plus Series SATA 3Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive (OCZSSD2-1VTXPL60G) - dabs.com am I likely to see a difference? Thanks

Hiya, Just looking for some advice if I could please? I want to upgrade the current HDD, running my operating system on my Desktop PC, to an SSD. Now obviously I am looking at this upgrade to speed my PC up ... as running Windows 7 on an IDE drive (yes, I know) rus a bit sluggish. Now my question .... what other factors do I have to think about, if I'm looking at this upgrade from a speed point of view. Is the memory, CPU, etc going to counteract what I am doing, and therefore, me not see a difference? I cant tell you the exact specs of my machine, my memory isn't brilliant, and I'm only 18 ... but this is a rough guess ... : Core2Duo Processor (I'm pretty sure its an E6 model, so lets say its between 2GHz - 3 GHz, 1333MHz RAM (4 GB [3GB Usable 32Bit Operating System] DDR2 PC2-5300 @ 667MHz) Are there any other factors that I will have to think about, and with them specs do you think I will notice a difference in the speed of my operating system. Hi, Was wondering if anyone can help me? We are still running Macromedia Studio MX 2004. Usually we install this through a Ranger package but we would like to retire ranger if we can as we have found alternatives for all the Ranger does ... apart from installing some applications. I had read that you could install applications that you haven't got MSI's for through command line using Impero. I have tried this but have had no luck. Could someone please help? This is where the installer is located on our Applications server: \\\Programs\ICT Admin\Installs\Macromedia\StudioMX2004\Install Studio MX 2004.exe I am just unsure as to what switches I would use etc? Any help is gratefully received. Many Thanks Tom

OK. I might try delprof then. What switches do you use, and do you use delprof or delprof 2?

To be honest we haven't tried delprof yet. @micheal : I can understand that bit .... but it the profile is only corrupt because of the index.dat files that are left over ... it deletes the rest of the profile fine. It is almost like there is something using the files when it is trying to be deleted. If we delete them manually we have to restart the machine before we can do it because it complains that the file is in use .... so i presume that is what our script etc will not be deleting them files. Bust what can be hijacking it?

I am sorry to bring this back up as I know there have been a few threads about it before .... but we cannot find a solution. We are using mandatory profiles for our students, and they get copied to 'C:\Documents and Settings\' on log on. On log off the profile is supposed to be deleted. This has been working fine previously until not long ago. Because they are not being deleted multiple copies of the profile are being created, such as username.domain and username.000 etc. The files that are being left behind, therefore the profile not being totally deleted are: C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\index.dat C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\IETldCache\index.dat C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\Cookies\index.dat We have GPO set to delete profiles on log off, we run the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service, we also have a script that runs ... and it just seems impossible for these profiles to be deleted properly. We run Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. Any help is gratefully received. Many Thanks Tom

Ohh yeah ... that might be worth a try as well, but will it clone it or will I have to run extended desktops ..... because I know that a lot of our teacher wouldn't be able to manage that lol.

Thank you both for your replies. I will try what you said Andrew when the computers are not in use. It just seems really weird, because you'll get it working, for a couple of days it will be fine and then it throws its self out again, and only show on the VGA output. To be honest it seems like the Intel Utility is loosing the setting, but hey ho ... we will give it a try. Many Thanks Tom Grindle

Hiya Guys, Don't know if you can help me but this is causing a real headache for me ... and I'm getting fed up of it now ... dont know what else to try. I have 5 Stone SFF PC-1102's with Intel DH55TC motherboards. These have the dual output (DVI-D and VGA). With these 5 computers they each have an Iiyama Prolite P1905S attached, these are connected through DVI-D and they also have a projector each attached, through VGA. The problem that I am having is that when some of the teachers switch the computers on there is no picture being outputted to the Iiyama monitor, only their projector. They then have to use the Intel HD Graphics Utility to clone the output to both, so somewhere it is losing this setting. Also when the monitors go to sleep, when the teacher tries to wake back up, by either tapping the keyboard or wiggling the mouse, the monitor again wont wake up. In the BIOS I have set the primary and secondary outputs, Primary being DVI-D and Secondary being the VGA. I have tried to find drivers for the monitor, but Iiyama dont supply any, I have been in contact with them by email as well. Tried updating the Intel HD Graphics driver, but the Intel website seems to be running very slow for me today and even when I do run the Auto-Detect utility, when I click on the Download link the file can not be found. Really, really stuck and don't know what to try. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Tom

Hi, I could do with some help if anyone has got any information. My father has asked me if I would redesign and take over the website for our family business. Our existing website has an Enquiry Form, which I have duplicated but cant really get my head around the scripting of it. I am using Serif WebPlus X4, designed the form using the FormWizard and then selected the 'Script from remote location' option. The hosting that we currently use is Freeola and I have come across this page Freeola Help & Support, Form Mail script. Now maybe it is because it is the first day back after the easter holidays or i just don't have a clue, but it seems to not make much sense to me. Attached is the HTML for the form so far. Hi there, It is coming near the time where our Stone All In One PCs are coming to the end of their warranty. I have had one of them come in in the past week and the monitor wont switch on which I would put down to faulty buttons on the front. Thankfully it is under warranty so and engineer is coming in today, but at the end of this month we wont have this option. I know that they are Enlight LP772 cases, but does anywhere know where I may be able to get spares from such as the OSD Control PCBA. I have contacted Enlight and am waiting to hear from them ... but is there any other retailer? Thanks Tom

I have had a laptop brought in, which we suspect to be a shorted motherboard because the student was messing about with ports in the back etc, but when you switch it on it wont do anything. The light comes on and CD drive spins but the fans do not and it doesn't boot into the BIOS. Any ideas anyone, done some research on internet and it says about dusty fans etc but it is all OK. It stays switched on for about a minute and then switches back off. Thanks Tom

Well, we had the laptop come in initially, it would only charge if you held the connector in a certain position. Rather than pull it apart to look at the motherboard etc I decided that I would get the same model out of spares, which had a broken screen, swap the screens and hard drive over, hey presto, laptop that works, until I went to plug the power in LOL. In the end I put it down the the hole in the plug being slightly smaller than the other power supplies, because we have a lot of spare power supplies from Microlight XL's that we use, and are successful with all the other laptops that we have, apart from what seems to be the Ensis 211. I found the original power supply fir this chassis and it was OK. All prt of learning i suppose lol, measured the holes and the difference in size in minimal, just shows how much a little difference can make.
