Yes, had same issue, sorry missed this one or would have said. Works fine with the latest update, it was the last update that broke it. Contacted them at the time and they admitted to the fault and emailed me when the fix was available.

Just tried that and it throws up two cmd boxes one for the cmd file and one for the .net file with a flashing prompt showing the cmd file location directory, and nothing else seems to be happening? just sits there. Tried without the /q to see if it was running and just got same again. Edit: Just tried without any quotes at all and worked fine! Ah well, Live and Learn.

Got Kodu installed on a test PC, what things do I need to watch out for re config of it. Is it possible to disable the initial video that runs?

I'm trying to get .net4 installed with a cmd file using the following line: start /wait "%SCRIPTDIR%\Sketchup\NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe" /q /norestart All the info on the web says it should work but when I try it tells me the /q is incorrect tried it in a cmd screen with NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe /q /norestart and it works? Anyone spot what I have wrong? (have start /wait because I have another couple of files to install afterwards)

Thought it was just me, kept ignoring it. I'm on android, also get a message that tells me I am not logged in...then connects and works as normal. With tapatalk message edugedk sometimes takes two or three attemps to get it started.

Thought I'd better say what equipment I had saying as everyone else has kindly donated their info. School currently has approx 450 pupils but extension will take that to nearer 700. Server room (cupboard) has two desktop servers, my pc (dual processor which seems to chuck out a lot of heat), emergency blade server (which is nit sorted yet as it does chuck out a lot of heat therefore not on and a pending project), small micro PCs to run suite display tv, ups and two monitors. Like others no requirement for any heating! Only ventilation is where I removed the glass pane above the door when we very quickly found out about the heating issue.

Shhhhhh...dont tell anyone but that last paragraph is the real reason I need it done correctly!

Thanks to all who replied, interesting to hear how the rest of the world lives. Have worked at three other primaries and they had 1) Server under a bench in a classroom 2) server in a 6' tall comma cabinet 3) server under a work top in what was then the computer suite. All not ideal. My current school users to be under a work top in the suite until I complained after a a pupil turned it off twice, so we inherited our current cupboard. I'll see if I can sort a picture. With the new build it seems too good a chance to miss. Can only use areas that are there now but there is a good sized store room if I could get my way, engineer wanted to just give us a 'cage' for security and stick them on the floor at the end until I said I needed work space and then showed him all the kit we need to store and mentioned the extra comms cabinet that is required. His comment was it would be a bigger room than the new deputy's room, my answer was 'and...'. Look at it this way, if the deputy or server stops working through heat...which affects the school more? Leave home to think about that one....

Are there any primary school techs on here who have a server room (primary school so it keeps it relevant) who would be willing to send me or post up photos of their room and whats kept inside and what size of school would be handy. Reason is we are having a new se tion built onto the school and a new server 'area' is now on the cards as existing is too hot and small. Their initial solution was to put a cage at end of an enclosed store area with a vent fan about!!! Spoken to them and made them (planner/construction company) aware if what requirements needed, they can see my point but need some examples to back it up etc.

Glad to know I am not alone! Need it fixing fast as a user yesterday had the issue and that was after using it OK after a reboot (after removibg the errant GPO) yesterday! No idea why, he rebooted PC and all was OK! Thanks for the offer of help, much appreciated.

Well, good job I delayed roll out...came to find all existing PC's witb ie9 or the one with 11 on it were having trouble downloading things, reports of 'is flash working?' And couldnt access the councils Outlook web page, it eventually complained I must allow scripts to run! Miffed to say the least. Removed the new GPO with the GPP preferences set and all was back to normal after a reboot! Any ideas what to attemot next? Would it be worth whike making a new GPO but base it on the existing one then add the gpp prefs to that one? Thought I had it cracked....no such luck!

Just an update, finally got it to.apply by moving the GPO to the same level on the domain that the existing Proxy GPO is at. Worked first time but did try again with another login and it picked up homepage but not proxy, rebooted and it was fine? Leaving roll out of 11 till I know its stable I think though.

Slightly jumping onto this thread but still relevant, if a setting is changed in GPO should gpupdate be run on server and client or is just running it on the client enough?

Yes, edited the XML so that it starts at version 10 so original PC's with 9 still use the normal GPO and will try moving the new GPO with the GPP set up to the same domain level and try that.

Well just come in and tried it and.....no settings are taken by client 😭, no default page or proxy settings. Would it matter that we have the original GPO still active. The new GPP is being applied to a sub test group to try it out, whereas the normal GPO that handles the proxy is at Domain level, or is there anything else I should check or be set. (yes settings are green and only set proxy, port and home page) Desparate to get this working.

Well as I could not get the registry settings to take with some advice I set the GPP setting for IE8 (been told it should work for 11 as well) and guess what...that don't work either! Getting a tad fed up with this,even the thought of just installing Chrome has gone through my mind, which may end up being my only solution if I can't get 11 to take the settings! Edit: Just seen from a post on here I still needed to edit the xml file, ours said max version 10 so that probably why they didn't apply via GPP. Just edited file remotely so will see when I am next in tomorrow afternoon. Where would I be without techy friends and EduGeek!

Eventually had a chance to look at this and added the above script as a computer logon script but when I try the test machine IE11 has not got any proxy settings set. Did a gpresult and the GPO being applied, any ideas as I need to push this out sooner than later. Having to use the vbs as we are 2008 R2 and W7 clients. Tried the vbs locally and it installs the settings. Is it because I'm trying to add registry settings? if so how do I get around this?

Thanks, have extracted the files and there are lots of msi, msu etc as its a kind of roll up. Have tried running the exe with the /q option and it installed OK without prompts (but with a forced reboot) so presume I can just set that up as a GPO to auto install. Anyway to stop it rebooting as that would cause havoc if I install it at logon I presume. edit: just found there is a /norestart option which may possibly work with 4.5.2? or How should I handle this install better?

I need to install Google SketchUp which I have set up and now found It wont install as It requires .Net 4. Two questions, 1) I have downloaded NDP452-KB2901907-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe which from a link on here is the latest to use (its .Net 4.5.2 with updates etc). How do I install this using GPO? (or is there a better msi one I could use?) 2) As I need this to be installed before Sketchup, how do I make sure that happens i.e. .Net gets installed first and not the other way around or do I have to set it up to install .net the when its done, then set up Sketchup to install? Sorry for questions but its Monday and I just cant get my brain to engage yet!

Well managed to find the reg setting that sets the filter..phew...but what's best way to implement it. It's not a simple 1 or 0 for the setting but a whole series of digits.

Have the problem of Word using *.dotx as its default file filter when you start Word and then click open. (Its my own fault I was looking at templates when I created the master PC image and forgot to change it back to *.docx and no, reimaging all the school PC's with the correct value set is not an option!) I am of course presuming its held in the registry, I have tried to use process monitor to see where this value is held but at the moment its beating me to find it, tried all sorts of filters to find it but no luck yet. Setting the option to default save, default save as etc is all in there somewhere but cant find where it sets the initial value to filter open file types. So if anyone is bored and thinks they can have a crack at solving this I would be most welcome as its got me beat! I have opened the file Open dialogue and set the filter type and the value is set then as if I cancel that dialogue and then reopen the dialogue its still set to the new value I just set.

Yes I know it needs 3.5, have found the 4.0msi but can only find 3.1 files, so that's why asking if anyone has a copy of the 3.5 they have used.

Just got around to looking at this again, Got the Kodu msi but has anyone got the xna framework msi's (3.5 and 4 as noted above) or could point me to the right ones? I have found xnafx40_redist.msi so far but finding all sorts and not sure of correct ones.
