Got a colleage that dabbles a bit in web design but he wants to take it further so he asked me if there were any courses he could do, my answer was a shrug of the shoulders! So....does anyone know of a good course he could do to expand his knowledge on web design, wants to look at html, java, etc

Used vuescan here as well for a slide scanner I once had, great software and only way could get scanner to work on XP as it only had drivers for 98. Sold scanner now so dont know if it would have still supported it.

Multiple Choice Quiz in PowerPoint with scores / grades
TechSupp replied to JayDog's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Did one as part of my degree, millionaire type quiz with all the options, ask a friend, keep score, load questions from external config files, export scores etc etc but to be honest it was VB with PPT added on in the end, you end up doing so much VBA to get it to do what you want. I ended up re writing it (actually exported most of the code from PPT to VB). Would have had no problem sending you a copy but one of the mistakes of my life is that I have somehow lost all my work from Uni, usual case of thought I had a copy of everything on DVD until I came to want some of it...and its not anywhere! Think I had some old copies somewhere, If I do I'll gladly pass it on in case its any help but as I said you'll probably end up doing it in VB or similar. -
Have used APC UPS supplies previously but just had second one die on me, came in the other week to it whistling away, reset it, charged it up and it fails when it gets sone load on it so think its a gonner, checked it out using the software and it passed all the tests but fails in reality so probably time for s new one. As this is the second one to go down in a few years, do I just stick with APC or go to another make...any recommendations? Got two servers running (or did!) of current one and could do with about 45 min cover. Office just got a new server and UPS but cant remember off hand what UPS that was, looked a big beast for a single server but they said it would give 50min cover.

We have also got the Roth soundbar installed with our new 6065's and yes, the sound is good from it, well worth paying the extra for it and they look alot better than speakers either side of screen. Teachers better be happy with them...if not dont care..I think setup looks good anyway!

Smart 6065 mirrored display not working properly
TechSupp replied to mdench's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Maybe just to help, had ours installed today by the very nice VeryPC boys and had same issue of not filling screen, changed resolution or mode i.e extened etc and it filled screen till reboot. Sorted it by disabling the AMD display control app (cant remember the exact card at the moment) at start up, works fine now mirrored. Not bothered at moment about extened desktop, mirrored will be just fine. Good so far and using v11 Smart notebook. -
Just been handed a couple of bird boxes that have wifi cameras in them (only had them about 2 years apparently, found in a cupboard!). As it is at the moment its wifi from box to receiver then it outputs to video and audio outputs (phono connections) then a scart adaptor to plug into a TV. Not the most ideal solution for a school so what is the best option apart from hide it in another cupboard for another two years! Ideally would want an analogue to digital convertor (with phono input, ok if no sound) that would have maybe a network port so it can be streamed around the network. Even better would be option to stream to internet but not necessary at moment. Did I mention I would need as cheap a solution as possible! Usual, we are a primary and science budget spent up.

Thanks, explains a lot, but was not told that info when I asked about it.

For me, well I just dont like the look of the site now 😠 -
Looked at tbe TTS ones but for the price dont think you can go far wrong with tbe Hills ones.
-
What spec microserver do you have, last time I Looked FreeNas needed a quite hefty spec. ( could be wrong though!) Looking at a new backup option to put in budget.
-
We have the Hills as well, robust yes, indestructible... no, but then again what is, but been the best choice so far, we are a primary and they get some stick but its all as usual getting staff to make sure they are looked after which is the major issue not kids breaking them or them failing.
-
Thanks, just phoned them and looks like we currently have Next Business Day which is the cheapest of their options, so that's all sorted...just got to keep fingers crossed till I get some money!

Its OK, meant to type that in as well but forgot before hitting send! Its our main curriculum server, AV, DHCP, DNS File storage etc, all SIMS etc is done via admin.
-
What it provides is a good question! Does not explain a thing to help make a choice. Not that I have money till April anyway! Looked on website and still no clearer. Think its just a way of getting us to pick most expensive to cover all situations!

Just had notice in for the warranty support renewal from HP. We are a primary school and the server is about 4 years old now (don't think we will be replacing soon). Whats the general thought on paying out to extend the warranty again, been given various options from Foundation care at £132 going up to £353 for 6hr Proactive care and all that's for just 1 Yr. Been given plenty of warning...current one runs out tomorrow!

Usual someone had bright idea to get chick eggs then ask for them to be streamed to school website. Eggs already being filmed with Stop Motion Pro which saves the images each time to a network location. Just want to upload latest image to say our dropbox account tgen link that image to our website page with note to refresh for latest image. No facility or storage facility on school website we use so thats why dropbox. How can i do it automatically though?

Had a go at that once before, worked quite well....well apart from my scruffy handwriting!
