  1. Well seems I can! Must be me then!
  2. Just checking if I can reply to a message.
  3. Anyone having trouble posting replies using the Edugeek android app? Can post a new post as here (done on my phone now) but tried a few replies to threads and they have not appeared, thought it was me but had about four not appear now. Has always worked before and only difference is my phone (HTC One mini) upgraded itself yesterday. Mods, please move this if its in wrong area, couldnt find wherd to best put it.
  4. I'll try and reply for the third time, dont know what happened to the last two! Thanks for replies, probably going to go for the cheap as chips ebuyer ones.
  5. Thanks, I'll give Teamviewer a go.
  6. After just spending 40mins trying to sort my mums laptop out over the phone, are there any free remote access programs I can use so I can just log in remotely and fix it using a remote desktop. Used to use Logmein untill it became a paid version (you can tell whats comming next) for the times I would need it, would be good if it was free to use. This only for personal use and not for paid work etc.
  7. Can anyone recommend me any powerline network adaptors. I have wifi but need a better connection to stream my movies to downstairs. Usual, price is an important factor i.e whats the best I can get for the least I will need to pay 😊 Also any things I would need to watch out for if I used them?
  8. Says it is on website, even W8, but suppose depends on version you have, says latest is 5.
  9. Thanks for that, yes I though the speaker volume was terrible, had taken speakers down as it was a Smartboard previously but had to put them back up again. Any ideas about the Clevertouch screens, as they have been mentioned as well, although don't think they thought about the fact that it won't cover licensing for Smartnotebook on them as far as I know.
  10. Can anyone with these screens tell me what the volume is like via the in built speakers? Good enough for someone at the back of the class to hear? Got one of the earlier E70 screens and the sound volume was terrible unless there was no one else making a noise in classrooms nearby. Had to have additional speakers fitted. Having a few new classroom built and the 6065 boards have been spec'd as the school wants to keep with the Smartnotebook software as we have Smartboards everywhere else.
  11. Somehow remember researching it and found lots of others had same issue, think it was there by (bad) design. So you may be Ok and it was like that anyway....look on the bright side....before they couldnt even get into it, now they can, and can use it...result!
  12. Got an Advent one that does that, never found a solution other than I now put a micro USB wifi adaptor in.
  13. Just looked and seems a good alternative, how did you install it over the network and did you just stay with the free version (no probs with the adverts etc?)
  14. Interesting, never thought of that, will have a look at that as an alternative then.
  15. Unfortunately I'll have to suck it and see with command line access I think, as we dont have enough devices for kids to work in pairs even, so using the emulator is a necessity not an option. Do they all need a google account or just one for everyone, read somewhere about needing one (or more?). Shame for the issues as it looks on the surface quite Scratch like which is the big plus link, I'm primary based so this may be a leap into the unknown.
  16. Was going to start looking at App Inventor and seen a few technical issue messages on here, so what are peoples thoughts on running it, will have to use the emulator for whole class work so just looked at that install option. Any gotchas to look out for or issues, did see java issues keep cropping up, or any advice on installing it on a network (vanilla 2008 R2 with W7 clients).
  17. Hmmm nice, beats our current server!
  18. Interesting, what spec of server do you need to run something like that?...and best question...difficult to set up?
  19. Technical explanation is as you found...not allowed...for very good reasons as well it seems from you are trying to do!
  20. You don't need to spend a lot more than that to stay in the Premier Inn at Greenwich.
  21. Well, registered and got hotel booked for two of us again. Can't believe it's not part of our budget ( and one of my yearly targets!). Just waiting for 12week limit to book train tickets and if we are luck some cheap first class ones both ways again! All I need now is for Mr Ofsted to come knocking that week for it all to be cancelled as we are well overdue for a visit. Think this next year will be my seventh visit to BETT, looking forward to meeting the Edugeek crew, ICT Dave etc again.
  22. Last time I spoke to them a web based version was in development, that was earlier on this year.
  23. Sorry to bring this back up but only just discovered what they can see from a desktop! Anyway, downloaded the ADM template, before I apply it, are there any downsides to stopping Network from appearing, or does it just hide the link?
  24. Thanks, may give that a try when I get a 'brave' moment. At the moment I use the fike management to block the ini file, no slow downs as farvas I can see (or hear) so far. Will monitor and if problems try to make time for a 'brave' moment. Trouble with supporting only in spare time, dont get big amounts if time to try things out.
  25. Can you post the robocopy script that creates the new folders and moves the existing data to the new folders? Presume All I have to do then is do a mass change on the user account property that sets the path to the users home folder? Our home folders are currently set as \\server\staff$\Smiths on each home folder path in AD, could I use a %username% or something similar i.e.\\server\staff$\%username%\documents in the path so they are all the same and not have to do each one?
