  1. Yes, I mean why password protect files that are already on a site that is password protected? For ease of use to go that far why not just password protect the PDF files as normal.
  2. Thanks, thats interesting. Would love to see how you did the license file automatically. Interesting about the amount to install on as well!
  3. Eventually done it! Still a faf to ask users to click a file afterwards though! Oh well, wheres Word to create a Dummys Guide now!
  4. Unfortunately they want this stuff on all PC's so they are not restricted to where they log in and use it etc. At the moment cant even get it to install via msi! Grrrrrrr
  5. Fiddly! so I am finding out. Got the msi, set it to install but when I want to run the program it wants to write top the programdata folder and cant. Any ideas whats the best way to sort this?
  6. Yeah, I thought it was a bit of overkill and not really helpfull for alot of primary schools who.may not have a dedicated techy etc. Why not just use some of the protection features of a normal pdf?
  7. Well looks like there is an msi but you have to manually register the licence file with it afterwards. On another downer it wants to access the C drive and write details to an settings file...guess what...we have access to C drive blocked! Well weekends here so Monday will see me installing it on a server and seeing if it will run as a shared application. Not holding out much hope though.
  8. My school uses Cornerstones education planning documenst etc and Cortnerstones have now implemented an online 'hub', unfortunately to view the documents they require 'lock Lizard' to be installed on any PC needing to view the files! Anyone ever had any dealings with this software or even managed to install it via the network as an msi etc as it has to have a license file included in it. Not happy if it has to be installed on each PC as I finish here at the end of term!
  9. Thanks for the update, does ie11 now accept the proxy settings automatically from gpo as ie9 does? It was one of the reasons we held off the upgrade due to problems others reported after upgrade.
  10. Good replies thanks, be interesting to know if the reg fix works before I delve into setting it up.
  11. Ok just found another thread over same issue, advice is a registry edit, Heres a registry key for IE9 and I am sure the other versions are similar. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\IE9TourNoShow (a Reg_DWORD with a value of 1 to say don't show it again) Got Server 2008 R2, how do I push that out using Group Policy? Anyone got a simpletons guide how to do it?
  12. Got a strange one, we currently have I.E 9 on our PC's since our change to W7 due to the original issues with ie10 etc. all has been fine except over the last couple of week when IE starts it not adds a second tab congratulating us on the upgrade to IE9! Everything else works fine. How can I stop this daft page loading? I have this issue at two schools.
  13. Will agree with the previous posts, the sound level is terrible for classroom use. We had one installed in our foundation unit and had to have the previous wall speakers reinstalled. Teachers and kids love it but the sound issue left a bad taste and wont have anymore installed as can get other makes with software that also loads Smart notebook files.
  14. We use AB Tutor for shutdown but never set it up for startup as better just turning them on when needed in our case.
  15. But no hdmi on existing monitor.
  16. Looking for a bit of supporting argument/info, been asked to price some replacement PC's and usually gone to out nice Mr Dave at ICT Direct (got the quote thanks guys) but now been asked to get comparable quote for a similar HP PC but new. Any benefit of a new i5 cpu over the previous i5 apart from more threads which we would not use. We are a primary school and most hungry software is CrazyTalk or StopMotionPro animation! I also need it to have HDMI out option and been told by a supplier that better to have a plugin adaptor off the rear port for HDMI than an internal card? With an internal card giving HDMI I presume that would disable the onboard vga, reason is we usually run a splitter for monitor and projector but now we had HDMI display screen, wondered how I get montor to display image as well. Never had problems with my friends at ICT Direct with my other school but this is one of my other schools (but only till summer then I'm off)and she (office manager and ICT governor) usually likes new PC's but I cant see the point if theres not much difference in spec / performance and the price saving is about half as much as new!
  17. Thanks, will look into that then.
  18. Thanks, not done any flying before and just wondered what the difference was.
  19. Why left hand throttle? Whats the difference and does that depend if you are right or left handed?
  20. Just had a couple of interactive screens installed fir classrooms and the feed is from the teacher PC, its fine but of course its not pin sharp as its only vga. Is it possible to get a graphics card that outputs HDMI so we display a better quality image. I know you can do it with some laptops. Suggestions of a reasonably priced card would be welcome as probably looking to replace the PC shortly with HP from ICT Direct.
  21. I can confirm interacting with the background is all practice and timing. Did a presentation with myself recorded walking onto the screen behind me then having to interact with myself took some practice to get it fluid, you can't adlib! Did it all post processed using VideoStudio. Looked good I was told but don't want to do it again!
  22. Not done that but usually ride and race on my bike but been suffering a bit of lack of motivation last couple of months so thought a spin cycle session would kick start me....I thought I had died after it! Legs hurt for days afterwards, tell you what though, thought of doing another session got me back on the bike though so intense sessions do work...in a way!
  23. Just watch Telstar, the Joe Meek story on iPlayer, what a fantastic film, tragic ending but never knew so many future stars started out there, Mitch Mitchel, Richie Blackmore etc etc. if you haven't watched it and like the history of pop etc watch it white it's still on. End credits funnily enough are every interesting telling the later story of what happens to all the people involved.
  24. Looks like you were right unless someone else has the same ugly mug as me! Have not got a clue what I won though? Just brightened my Friday up anyway PS the avatar does in fact suit me well, I'm well known for being the miserable one (but not today!)
  25. Brilliant, thanks for the replys
