Thanks, well I have no mem card suitable, charger or hdmi lead (no hdmi on any of my monitors so that may be an issue?) Externnal HD is a possibility. What will I use ut for....anything and everything, not used one before but will be linking it via Scratch to run a floor robot (got to learn so I can use it with the kids in school).

When I left my last post I was given a £40 Amazon gift voucher and was thinking of entering the world of the Raspberry Pi. Looked on Amazon and there are a few kits with case etc. Can anyone suggest a kit? Have already got a USB WIFI, looking for the newer B + model and not really wanting to spend more than the £40 well not much more. Just not sure which kit would be the best to get.

We only had it a couple of Yeats now and had some performance issues but after speaking to Ruckus online support ( who were very helpful) we went to the latest stable firmware they suggested and was much better afterwards.

Just trying to get Skype working here in school and it says it can't connect. Our LA controls the web access etc so what pages should I ask them to unblock, just Skype.com? Tried going to the Skype login page on a browser and it comes up but no graphics just the text.

Does that reg fix work on network drives as its the redirected user folders that are being changed. Would I have to run the reg on the server the redirections are located or the client and if a folder has already been renamed do I have to do anything first?

I have the usual desktop.ini issue where My Documents is displayed. Looking for a more permanent fix than the one we currently use, a powershell script that does not seem to always do the job. Found these instructions /var/log/metasplo.it: home folders being renamed to "My Documents" - desktop.ini woes but open to offers on a better one or one that is used generally.

Hi, probably not related and certainly not a fix but had a similar issue yesterday. The PC' would randomly decide to get blocked access by the LA Blox filter. No reason why, fri ok, Monday not, and it was not staff related as same member logged on elsewhere and it worked. Ours did have proxy settings picked up as it was getting as far as the Blox server off site but was completely random what machine got blocked. A phone call to the LA shed no light on it but he did admit ere was an issue they were working on.

It's not for SIMs or anything like that it's just to help me remember all the kids names etc that I will be teaching this year (I'm covering every class from y1 to y6, twelve classes)...yes..I am a teacher..there I said it in public! Originaly joined Edugeek at a techy but qualified to teach) and now 10 years later I'm a bit of a half breed, computing teacher and I also look after he curriculum system still, not a bad affair, I have the best (and sometime worst) of both worlds.

What would be the best and easiest way to rename a batch of pupil photos with their names? Photos will be taken in register order and can have list of names in whatever format needed.

Good idea, may have to look at that as an interim option. Have got a space above the door, used to have glass in but took it out soon as we moved in due to heat. Could mount an extractor fan in there, hmmm wonder about a shower extractor fan and ducting? 😊

No chance of another room, taken 10 years to get this one! They know there is an issue with heat its just what pressure can be applied to solve the issue.

Thanks, that's just the info I needed. Didn't want to spend out on an air con unit if we were going to be no better off. Will have to just keep on trying to get a fixed one installed. Any ideas of the possible costs involved for a small installed version?

We only have a small server room / cupboard! and temps have been on the warm side of late. We are to get the room enlarged slightly but this may not be till next summer and I dont think fixed aircon would be on the list how ever much I would like it to be. Can anyone reccomend a small portable aircon unit that tbey have used and did it actually do the job. Our only cooling at the moment is a fan on the floor and the glass above the door removed! Does not really do much apart from move the air but its better than nothing. Got a spare server to 'play' with but cant as it generates too much heat! Currently have 2 servers and a PC running in the room. Image does not do it justice but not much more room than shown.

Thanks, just tried it on a PC and it runs but it did complain it needed 4, once installed it ran surprisingly OK, (did take of a couple of the viewing options). Now got to sort out a .net 4 msi now

Just looking to see if its worth it installing Kodu for the new term. Got the latest msi. Does anyone who has installed it modify it with an MST before they push it out. Don't know what settings are fully involved but have gheard for our spec machines we need to some options to get a better frame rate and don't want to do this on all individual PC's. Any help or advice appreciated before I go any further.

Uninstalled it and reinstalled it using a cmd file I used to install 13 and it starts up without the pro trial. Now is this because the mst file is specified in the cmd line and if I just double clicked the msi it did not take any notice of the mst file? Next question is if I want to run this out using GPO do I have to specifiy the mst file anywhere in the GPO or do I just make sure its in the same folder as the msi? Thanks Arthur, that's command looks familiar so it must have been your file I had a copy off! Had a look at the GPO, can I not just run the MSI via a GPO and specify the MST in the GPO software setting rather than using the cmd file (presume that would have to be done as a startup script?) Would the cmd file not try and install Sketchup every time it runs? Sorry if the questions seem a bit on the basic side

Any one help, I download the Sketchup msi from the exe, downloaded the new mst from post #11, put them in the same folder and ran the msi manually to check its install and when I ran Sketchup it said I had no license and only 8hrs to go. What am I doing wrong? Had a version 13 that worked fine. Edit: Realise now the 8hrs is a trail! but how do I stop that. Have reset the clock, run it, accepted free version, run it again and its now the free version which is fine, so how do I stop it doing the free trial in the first place?
