  1. Do we have a link to the service manual?
  2. Have a laptop I that's currently XP with Trucrypt and I want to install W7 and trucrypt, do I have to unencrypt it first then image or can I just image straight over the top. I'm going to be using clonezilla to image it if that makes any difference.
  3. I have stripped and cleaned out various projectors previously but never attempted on of these of variants with the door. By all accounts they are not easy. I have one that the image is not bright, bulb is not that old and think it may be a build up of dust. Anything I could do or anyone know anyone who could help...or is it just toast!
  4. Thin end of wedge! One school I work for the head had all first names added to the website as he said it made teachers more approachable, letters had to be signed with a first name as well, however in class we are all Mr or Miss or Mrs from the kids. I prefer the Mr title, not sure, in fact I don't agree with the first name terms. Where has the status gone when that arrives, kids need to know where authority is and that starts with respect of elders and not using first names in school to bring us down to the same level. We are supposed to lead, how can you when they class you as the same as their mate. Rant over, going for lunch!
  5. Yes, have put Kingsoft on but as usual 'it's different and not office' was the reply! What's meant by you get the kiosk version?
  6. Usual, both are Sky+ and it's a 4 port LNB.
  7. Just reading my EES agreement and saw it gives me license to use Office 365 A2? Now not being up with it really, I understand that's it's web based MS Office but that's as far as it go's! Can someone give me an idiots (and for me that's about right) breakdown of what it is etc. we currently have Office 2010 installed on the PC's and we are a Primary school. Some questions I thought about were: Is it worth changing from what we have? Do all pupils have to have their own login? Does it pull all those users from AD? Will it run on our android tablets? Common complaint, they don't have office! Would it be easy to set up? Just a link on the desktop? Do you have to log in every time you want to use it? Any primary schools use it? Where are documents stored? Finally... We would not be using the email side Outlook etc if that makes answering some of the above easier?
  8. Hmmm, pay...not much, already pay too much to Sky, have multiroom already and two boxes, didnt think I could have more which is why I thought of sometbing different. A mini pc maybe an option, raspberry pi?
  9. Been given a TV that was going to put in daughters bedroom, have a digital ariel socket but I also have SKY. Got multiroom but no spare boxes. Whats the best current option to use so she can get Sky channels etc and possibly record as well and maybe the internet on it. Got SkyGo access so some kind of 'box' I suppose (Recording is only a 'nice to have' option). She already has a tablet which she watches alot of the time but thought a TV might be a better option to watch. Open to suggestions.
  10. We have it here, its not browsed as such, we use it host newsletters etc for our school website.
  11. Yes it runs in the browser on mine but there is an option to download it to run when no connection is available which when clicked I can only see a Linux download.
  12. Is it just me or is there only a Linux version to download? Handy having the online version though.
  13. Enter me please, please, please...that doesnt sound right now I've read it back! The competition I was on about!
  14. OK, Tried Seagate and it failed and is under warranty still, so its going to go back. Thanks
  15. Yes sorry, that's the one. Now I have all the data of it (from using the drive I think this all may have been caused by the cable connection to the drive as its not very good and if nudged disconnects from windows) tried formatting the disk again and it fails part way through process. It still reports it as being RAW, is there any other way to format it just so I can use it to transfer the files back to the owner. If not I'll just have to use my memory stick and tell her to buy a new one.
  16. Update, all attempts at formatting failed and most software failed either to find files or would just not run but before I gave up I came across EraseUs software, free version allows 2Gb data recovery and it worked a dream. Computer management in W7 reports it in the RAW state and it still wont format or read but was surprised how well EraseUs software still found and recovered the data. Only issue was if you let it find 1,000's of files (it was a Seagate 1Terabyte portable drive) it crashed going to the recovery stage so had to search for docs then other files etc in separate searches.
  17. In excel I am trying to generate an assessment sheet where if I tick (using control check boxes which I have managed) certain statements in a list it will place them one under the other on a new sheet. I can get it to put the statements when checked on a new sheet but only where the code is, I want it to automatically create the list one after the other even if the statements selected are not selected one after the other i.e. when statements 1,4,6 and 7 are ticked they appear on another sheet under each other 1,2,3,4, is this possible?
  18. Right, bit of an update....usb stick now deceased...however...in the mean time I was handed a Seagate portable drive (2.5 disk rather than solid state) and this is recognised by W7 is allocated a drive letter but when you try to browse it it just says invalid argument and then asks if you want to format it. Ran a chkdsk with all the options, it scanned it, found some errors and eventually finished but still gives same message when you try and browse it. Any suggestions, the data is there as I saw file names listed when it was scanning, Could I just replace the MBR? Or would that wipe the files? Format then use a recovery prog to recover the formated files? Think I have a copy of Spinrite (data recovery) somewhere...I think? If I use partition magic or gparted what options would I choose to try and recover it? Option C which I'm hoping someone will offer. Dont want to give up on this even if it needs gettibg rid off once data is recovered.
  19. Benn handed a USB stick that is recognised by the PC is given a drive letter in Admin tools but reports 0 capacity. Is there a fix for this or am I wasting my time? Going to try another OS when I get chance but wondered if there is anything else I could try?
  20. Trying to help my daughter who is pulling her hair out with it (and it has to be in Flash as its for a school project, she's using Flash Pro CS4), she wants to create a game where she dresses a male doll on one page or dresses a female doll on another. Now looked at it and she initially said she wanted to use two scenes, one for each but all I have read on the net advises against that for various reasons. Does she create two separate flash files and load each when needed from a third menu flash file (and how do you do that?) or is there a better way to do it keeping it all in one flash file?
  21. Yes, can somone point me to documentation that specifically says they need individual logons. Just looked through the Ofsted supplementary guidance linked document and didnt see anything unless I missed it. Funny just looking at implementing a key word monitor and screen grab using AB Tutor. Looks like I may have to make that more priority on my jobs list as we too are awaiting the call and are well overdue for it.
  22. Have a look at their website, they do various ones I think. Did for the iPod we bought them for as well.
  23. Having got AB Tutor up and running nicely now was going to look at the keyword monitoring facility it has, i.e. a 'naughty' key word is entered and a screen shot is taken etc but I need a list of key words. Has anyone got one already they wouldn't mind sharing?
  24. We got some of the Griffin Survivor cases for our foundation staff iPad Mini. Supposed to be military grade, drop from a distance etc grade...not had courage to try it out though!
