  1. Missing the point the licensing only allows it to run on mac hardware? (as far as I know)
  2. Got issues with slow speeds using the existing b/g card in our netbooks, is changing the mini pci-e card to an n version possible/worth while or would just getting a usb micro wifi adaptor be just the simplest option?
  3. Not many pennies at the moment which is why it needs to be a cheap and cheerful solution especially as we only have the three. There must be some AC/USB adaptor out there that would charge three or four rather than buy 3 separate USB chargers and a power extension. Something like this but a UK version, http://www.xtgtechnology.com/4-Port-Wall-to-USB-Travel-Adapter-Charger-for-Cell-Phone-Mp3-Player-or-Other-USB-Powered-Dev Storage ices--Fold-upFlip-down-AC-Prongs-for-Convenient-_p_30.html
  4. We only have a three iPods in school at the moment (I hope to expand once we have the budget) and I need to charge them together. Anyone got any suggestions for a powered USB charger for the three, nothing fancy as if we do get more we would sort a suitable charge station. Did try one of my own USB hubs but dont think it supplied enough juice as the iPods never recognised they were plugged in.
  5. Yes, I have had the network share working but not sure if it's integrated into the office as a location, we just used it as a location on a QR code with the send to feature. Think the password is set up when you create the share?
  6. Thanks will have a look at that.
  7. Yes I know you can set the default save format but its not that, itx the default 'open' format we need to change. As for deleteing the normal.dot, would have to do that on all pc's. Would tbink better to do a reg setting via gpo. Dont think the setting for open is in the gpo adm template?
  8. I have an issue where when in Word you select, file, open, the fike filter is set to *.dotx and not *.docx therefore at first glance it looks as if you have no files. This must have somehow got set as a default on the master image all our PC's were done imaged with as its there when you log on as a brand new user! It must be set as a reg setting as I can reset it to docx, exit Word, start Word and its Ok, but log off, profile deleted and we are back at square one! So back to original question, how do I find out the reg setting? Is there something that can take a snapshot of registry, change setting then run again, compare reg and tell me the difference?
  9. Just out of interest what happens if you just install the smartnotebook software only? We only have smartboards but looking at other options now as the OP has stated as well.
  10. OMG! What do some people think! Looks not lived in so obviously they could not stand it any longer! What's with the dining rom table in the bedroom?
  11. Had a yes to both of those but it still would not play ball.
  12. Would have to look that up, had them a while now, think they are out of warranty now so would have to be three plus years. 14 of the e3520 model 5 of the e3521 model Thought I had more than that but they are various other models of Fujitsu.
  13. I have those as well but (touch wood) have not had any issues with them so far although I did have the very same issue once with some NEC's and it was the same solution, phone for warranty visit but same as you sometime even after changing everything we still ended up with the issue again so not just on Fujitsu. Fujitsu have been largely good for us previously but tend to get HP from ICT Direct now due to cost.
  14. Not sure which section this should be under but...we run a redirected desktop here (w7 on server 2008 r2) done over he summer and set so that no one apart from a system admin could add files or delete files from their desktop so I could keep things all looking neat etc. now this was checked under various logins, staff and pupil and just as we wanted access refused when that operation was tried yet.....I came in yesterday morning and lo and behold someone had managed to save a PowerPoint to the desktop! Security settings were checked and access to desktop checked and all ok so any idea how this could have been done? I don't know who created the file ( or could I have checked via its ownership?) and no one has complained yet so will see. I think it was a file for an assembly so maybe a member of staff but don't know how they would have had permission as none are in the administrator group as we checked, yours sincerely, puzzled of Doncaster!
  15. Have a laptop showing he same, has been registered once but last time I had it on it said I needed to register it so tried via Internet which usually works but tells me I have a connection problem! Don't as have checked it! Tried the OSPP route and no joy just fails with same issue.
  16. Issues like that have kept us on ie9, with 10 using our website online editor the content just shuffles across the screen all by itself making it impossible to use! Now just got to stop 11 installing itself! Firtunately our wsus server is down at the moment so a but of breathing space.
  17. I have tried the hotfix on a pc and no joy, delay of 600 seconds, iszue with gpclient in event logs, does this need to be run on the server as well? Does the gpclient message mean its a gpo issue and would the error message tell me which gpo is causing the dely? Will be changing the asynchronus processing setting later to see if that helps. Incidentally if I distributed the hotfix its an msu do I do it via a logon script and does it check if its already been applied previously or does that have to be scripted?
  18. Yes was told about the Chrome situation but I would rather just keep to one browser even if I am sticking to IE 9 at the moment due to IE10 issues.
  19. I know that situation very well! Looking at now changing to a state where they must walk to copier to release prints otherwise 24hrs later its auto deleted :-D Surely for whats been printed they know tbey need to pick it up. It gots to a state now where if the printer is down for whatever reason they think I have done it intentionally to cut down on printing....as if I woukd do such a thing ;-)
  20. That sounds as if you are talking about my school! We dont have limits but they know I collate all the printing and name and shame on the staff notice board....of course its never them even though they have their own codes! and yes I do have one of the senior management, the worst culpit, who just shrugs her shoulders and says she doesnt care! This term with printing my budget is fast running out. I'm dreading the next bill!
  21. Not even gone as far as a trial, we had a demo and .....nothing! They never came back to us with details. Not high on my list at the moment. Going to BETT so will have a look around then.
  22. 100% northern! Ended up farther north than actual, in Doncaster but told I was more Newcastle.
  23. 19 for me, didn't even see it on the site and must have clicked it by mistake when looking at the news, now I thought that was fate so did the test...not so sure I should have done bu probably only goes to confirm what I thought and maybe why I've just had the last of a series of check at hospital done! Either that or it's like the quack said when he saw I was recently turning 50, "well...you're at that age!"
  24. A little update with the Samsung latest driver I get a regular 30Mbs Download and 17Mbs upload at nearly all AP's (I have issues with two), did try a ZyXEL USB wireless N adaptor and results are 53Mb Down, 33 Up which is much better but its a dongle and not ideal as could see the just getting lost of broken off. Need to find a good micro one to test, suppliers are looking to loan us one and possibly a replacement internal one to test. Will update when tested with thise options.
  25. I have a feeling it may be linked to issue we were/are having with our old server that acts as a print server. Its not a DC anymore due to issues as you found, poor logons etc. Have done fresh install of print server before half term so waiting to see if error returns however we still have some print availability issues for some reason.
