We bought the small hand held microscopes from TTS, (look like an egg) but work brilliantly, video, stills and good magnification. Teachers and kids love them. Best bit is no software to install, just a viewer program that sits on the server and a link placed on the pupil desktop. Simple to use.

Now can I say I'm a guitar player? Well I can play a few chords, once had lessons, guitar sal in its case for years then last year fell for it again. Have an old amp but due to space etc I now use my iPad, an iRig and either h'phones or speaker setup and I can now have all sorts of effects and amps to play with. Guitar is an electric Yamaha RGX112 that I have had 20 odd years. Did have at one time an cut away Washburn electro acoustic but wish I had kept it. Keep promising myself to buy an acoustic again with the excuse it would be for my daughter who did want one (and I would use it when she gets fed up due to breaking nails!)

Been given my Dads 05 Toyota Yaris VVTi 1.3 but unfortunately he does not have the manuals and I want to change the display in the middle that shows av mpg etc (fiddled but got nowhere!). Looked on toyota site but found manuals but none seem to mention it. Anyone got a similar Yaris and can scan me the relevant pages?

Spiceworks - the good, the bad, and the ugly
TechSupp replied to Tesla's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Yes, suppose that explains why, logical when you think about it! Next question, to log a call, do users need a specific name, email address etc, reason being I work in a Primary and only part of the week so this would be good to log calls when I'm not there and it emails me. At moment I dont have a problem logging system (not that we have many) apart from my memory and a dry wipe board. The reason for requiring few logon details to log a call apart from say name is the teachers would just not cope!- 29 replies

Mind if I ask a simple question, what does it need linking to AD for and does it have to if I want to put it on a server that does not run the AD?- 29 replies

Daughter has a Samsung Tab 10.1 and it shows the green battery icon on the screen with a red cross through it. It does charge when switched off (did it from flat last night) and it looks to take power when it's on (battery use indicator time stops when it's plugged in). Why does it show all the time, it also does not seem to be recognised by the PC when I plug it in but the tablet pings and the little red cross appears. Googled it and seen various answers from cleaning contacts to using other chargers so just wondering before I chance another charger and cable if anyone else has come across this?

Looking to replace a projector and have seen the Epson EB-1410WI interactive projectors that use pens and a normal dry wipe board to project on to but the projector picks up the position of he pens. Anyone had one installed yet, if so what are they like to use etc.

How would you prefer your keyboard and mouse from ICT Direct
TechSupp replied to ICTDirect_Dave's topic in General Chat
Depends really, if buying for a suite then would want them all matching, keyboards anyway, not too fussed on mice. If it was a one off tben suppose missmatched would be OK unless its to replace some in an existing suite. I personally like things to match and look right. No complaints with what you have supplied so far. -
Learnpad and Active directory

Is InClass compatible with the first generation 10" avensis tablets (or would it be too much of an overhead?) and would we have to pay extra for that feature? -
Just checked and they are bog standard three part jacks, left, right, earth. But why not on all PC's? Just tried another pair of h'phones and they worked fine! Will do some more testing when I find another set tbat play up.

Had this issue for a while and initially thought it was due to the sound files being played but... when headphones are plugged in I can hear a 'bing' when I alter the sound level and when I play some of the sample music audio in media player but not some of the sound effects etc when using the web based Education City or some of the other programs. I thought this was down to the media type being played but...accidentally found that if I move the audio plug out of the socked about an 1'8" I hear the Education City music perfectly and they work as normal. Now that makes you think its the audio jack or socket? but why can I hear music played via media player etc when its fully pushed in and not in Education City for example but pull it out slightly I can hear both? confused to say the least! I now have this at two schools, different PC's both RealTek bith same type of headphone (The Robust ones from Hills Components) Any ideas anyone?

That's the problem, I put them in tidy then over time theres painting, summer tidy etc etc and it's just dumped back. Now I get the call that it's all looking very untidy. Now when I'll get the time to sort them I don't know! Anyway first on list is to buy some Velcro.

We use fingertips app on ipads (thinks its android as well but not sure) foundation seem quite happy with it, data can be accessed and modified from any browser though, ipads just make it easier to use. A few schools round here use it.

Used the Velcro cut length ones before ay another school, where do you get the uncut length ones?

We have teacher computers either on the floor or on the desk connected to the Smartboard, video splitter, visualiser etc but with the amount of cables its looks a bit of a mess. Any suggestions what people use to keep it all tidy? Pat testers don't like the spiral stuff as they request to inspect the whole length and last time I used it they just took it all off!
