wish I had known that before I made that mistake ages ago! On my current issue they are Samsung NC10 netboks, on a Ruckus WIFI (think I need to test when on a wieed connection as a comparrison to rule that out) it happens no matter when there is 1 or 10 connectimng to that AP, they are not mandatory profiles and everything apart from appdata is redirected. just seemed coincidence that two errors occur when it mentions shell and we have two printers installing and the error is PnP. easiest option will be to comment out printers when I get chance and try it along with trying a cable connection logon.

In our situation we have a long delay after login with a blank screen and just the mouse, after a short while (couple of minutes) it continues. Just looking at the event log I see two events "the winlogon notification subscriber is taking long time to handle the notification event (StartShell)", now before each of these events (there are two) we have a couple of "PnPDriverImportError" messages. Our printers are run via a vbs script, so I am I a million miles away from thinking they may be the culprits as surprisingly we install two printers! Would changing over to installing the printers through GPP solve this? This delay only occurs on the netbooks and laptop we have logging onto the domain, other PC's that run the same scripts just log on fine, no blank screen delay but... they have a similar message in the evnet log except it states "Fault bucket, type5" instead of "Fault bucket, type0" on the netbooks. Could this blank screen be the same issue except that the netbook speed means we see the blank screen as the PC's process the info quicker? Clutching at straws to solve this delay issue but just hope I have managed to grab one! Can't test at moment removing printers as finishing for Christmas and spend too much of my life here as it is anyway! It will be a job for the New Year Happy Christmas Everyone!

that I dont know, its been a case of if it aint broke dont fiddle so never looked, where would I find that out?

We now have AB Tutor and I have now found out our DNS and DHCP are out of sync (some pc's not maping the correct name to PC location in AB Tutor). Two questions really, 1) is this a simple task to rectify so they are always in sync and 2) are there any other issues this could have been causing

Which insurer was that as my daughter just learning and would be handy to know.

Thanks, I presume that the above is only if they are using Chrome and logged in. Can we turn off the sync of history etc. Multiple accounts may be a step to far for them at the moment!

At one school they use Google Calendar and have a single logon for everyone so they can all add or modify things in the school calendar/diary. Had one teacher come to me to say she has seen some iffy history results when she has looked at her (chrome history). She is convinced its someone else as everyone has the same logon but I thought that the history would be just local i.e it would have been done on here laptop not on someone elses? Can anyone confirm about where history is saved and created in this situation?

Been asked to look at creating an android/iphone app for the school, details, contacts, with facility to push notifications to it for school closues etc We could get one written for us but are there any free resources/websites that could help me do it myself. Just looked at 'conduit' which says free but only for 5 users.

Well, did as suggested and phoned them up to say thinking of leaving and armed with comparable quotes...bingo..suddenly a 40% discount is suddenly applied bringing it to same as the others, well happy and guess what I will be doing next year!

Just had a renewal quote through for our (myself and wife's) AA roadside recovery with all the bells and whistles, home start, relay etc etc (not European cover though) and can't believe how much it is, nearly £250! Had a quick look at Green Flag and RAC and both cheaper, anyone got any experience of these two as they are cheaper, green flag much so. Ilike the peace of mind of having cover just the cost is spiralling out of all proportion.

Looking to get one with the same chipset for testing after finding the Realtek chipset so far out performs others I have tried.

Done some more testing today and seem to have narrowed things down. Tried a test with two different Samsung netbooks and a Toshiba Netbook, they are the only devices connecting to the particular AP and all show zero errors in the speediest screen. These are the following results and also tried disabling the inboard wifi and using a TP-Link nano USB adaptor instead to see the difference. Quite a few repeated tests done to check for one off results. All had latest driver from manufacturers website when they were installed in the summer, running W7 Samsung N130 90Mbps Downlink, 43Mbps Uplink (Realtek RTL 8192e) Samsung NB30 55Mbps Downlink, 6.0Mbps Uplink (Broadcom 802.11n) Toshiba NB510 12Mbps Downlink, 580kps Uplink (Atheros AR938x) Toshiba NB510 44Mbps Downlink, 12Mps Uplink (with TP-LINK nano USB adaptor) The performance of the Toshiba surprised me but seems the Realtek chipset perfor,ed the best by far. Tried a Samsung NC10 with a qualcom chipset at another school on a similar Ruckus setup and had speeds as in my original post of 20Mbps Downlink. Has anyone else had this where certain chipsets outperform others by this much. Just going to get a nano USB adaptor with a Realtek chipset now to see if I can get similar results from it. @neilmac, can only say due to lack of knowledge what the speediest screen tells me so error is 0% but I have not a clue what the frame rate is! But from this further testing I can see what I should be getting and it's not 20Mbps Downlink!

Have had quite a few of these and they only seem to last so long then one or the other speaker gives up the ghost. Changed them for other makes when they do go.

I'm tring to find the correct part number for the display screen cable (the one that breaks down). There are various ones depending on the specific model. Could do with a parts list is anyone knows where I could get one depending on the exact model I have.

Does anyone know where I can get the cable that connects the main board through the hinge to the LCD screen. Its a common fault with these and I have about 10 to 15 showing the usual symptoms of screen going white and then normal when the lid is moved. Had a quote of £45 so far for each one supply only!

Toshia, bought a couple to replace some that were broken not long ago.

Trying to bottom what I percieve to be issues with our wifi (Ruckus). What speeds should I expect to see, upload and download, when stood near an AP when I test it using the Ruckus speedtest utility? Using a netbook with its g rated card I get 20 down and with a USB n rated adaptor I got 40 down. Would have expected more.

Yes thats one I have looked at and I am waiting for it to arrive to do some testing.
