Well, tried and failed with Clonezilla as suggested but had to try as that what my image was done with. Its to do with alignment of sectors on SSD's apparently. Looks like its time to change our imaging system. Currently keep a virtual PC as my master and create images from that which has worked well so far. Anyone know of a simpletons guide to setting up the image server on Windows server 2008 R2 (got a spare server to use) as people seem to have said thats OK with setting the sectors etc of SSD's or suggest any other one. Tried a Fog server once before but just didnt really get on with it which is why I ended up with Clonezilla.

Make sense? Asking the wrong person! 😁 Open to offers on this, computer or user settings?

Checked and its a whole school license.

Been also suggested that another solution is to use a start up script, is there a benefit to that or best doing it by GPP?

From what I have just read, am I right in thinking that I just need to: Create a new Policy in GPO (i.e Install Fonts) Navigate to the User Config, preferences, windows settings, files Right click files and select new Add the details as above (changed to suit our font of course) and select the Create option Do the same for the registry setting but in the Registry section Seems too easy that! Hope it is though and would tell everyone it was devilishly hard to do! [emoji3]

Just been told school is purchasing a new font to use which will need to be on every PC. Whats the best way to get this installed across the network? Sorry, double posted as thought it had not posted from my phone!

What issue did you have? Always used Clonezilla and not got anything else set up and no time to set anything up either as its commibg next week.

Due to image a new PC shortly but it will be first one I have done with an SSD. Are there any gotchas to look out for. Will be using Clonzilla to do it and its a W7 image.

Slightly of thread but not quite, could not use nslookup and ping in dos with my Y3's it would just not mean anything and go over their heads! Switched on has some good topics but not overly convinced with its suitability at times. Have used a visual traceroute website for doing this kind if stuff with kids (done with my Y6's) and they get much more out of it than looking at response times in a dos window. Teacher needs to be a bit more flexible in resources to use and not stick rigidly to Switched On really. Anyway thats my two penneth. Anyway seems a heck of alot of work for what would essentially be one lesson.

What about Fingertips? We have that here (never used it myself mind). Sure they said you just use it as normal when not on wifi etc and you just get it to update when back on a connection.

Just been given my daughters iPhone 4 so essentially I can have a bigger iPod as run out of space on my old iPod. I have itunes set up on my computer which my existing iPod syncs to but I now want all my music on my 'new' iPhone. Connected it to PC and it backed it up and when I click sync it does nothing (says its doing something). Read somewhere I cant do it....but.. Can I?

Thanks but yes we set maps via logon scripts etc for curriculum no problem but this was an admin machine (which I usually dont touch) but the new head needed to access a couple of our curriculum shares, planning etc. So a manual map was needed, once set, job done. Once I got rid of existing credentials and remapped tge drive all has been ok since. As I said issue was original drive was mapped with a user we had to dissable, then I needed to map another drive with different user option....thats when windows complained I was trying to map multiple drives with multiple user credentials....all sorted now and a bit wiser 😁

Last one I had the key, I had the bracket thing underneath....the rubber stop that makes it return was missing! and this was a teacher laptop. Fixed with a blob of blutack instead of rubber! Teacher didn't want down time of not having laptop while keyboard swapped so happy with short term fix. Works just key does not bounce up when pressed. Heath Robinson but needs must!

I use CBC as well, never had any issues, prices are high but thats Toshiba not CBC.

Looked at that, deleted credentials and remapped drives. Frim error message seemed it didnt like having drives shared to same server with different users, now all mapped with same user. Will check again tomorrow.

That's where I am going to look when I get back in (did a bit of Googling).

Have an issue with a machine that we have to manually map a couple of drives so that she can access an area on our curriculum server, however although one mapping is fine, another just seems to forget its logon details as far as I can see as it just says no access. Re mapped it yesterday and all was well until she has come to logon today, one drive fine, the problem one no access. The original login details used to map the drive has now been disabled (due to another issue unrelated) so can only think it is still trying to use those although when I remapped it I did tell it to use alternative details, any ideas how to get it to totally forget the original login details for that mapping? Would mapping to another drive letter get around this issue or would it still remember the details linked to the share rather than the letter.

Can anyone shed some light on setting up a Minecraft Edu server? I have a reasonable Dell Bladeserver going spare somewhat at the moment and thought about setting up Minecraft. I have zero experience of it! Reading on the web I see I would need to purchase a server license but do I also need to purchase client licenses as well? It would be set up so that the pupils only have access to if from the IT suite on the school network, no access from outside etc. any tips on setting this up?
