Don't. Instead use MDT and WDS. MDT will allow you to customise your deployment and WDS will provide the mechanism. SCCM will work with both at a later point but for what you need just use MDT and WDS.

I've built a new install of 2.9 and am trying to restore courses from 1.9. Some go fine, but anything over about 20mb doesn't. The blue bar gets to about 95% then sits there doing nothing. Can anyone suggest any solutions or anything I can do to diagnose?

Photos. When they collect it they hold it up and I take a photo. When they return it they get their picture back.

Ab tutor does this for a fraction of the price. That would be my advice. Go vanilla and use AB tutor for monitoring.

I'd buy a decent second hand diesel people carrier or large saloon. If you damage it no one cares, if it conks out you buy a new one, it won't last that long and you don't have the hassle of selling it. A decent Audi A6 won't cost more than about £3k.

It also puts the onus on behaviour back onto the teacher. If the student forgets their password then the teacher has to deal with it, so the bevaiour actually gets addressed (Rather than the teacher sit marking whilst the class search's for the tech with everyone thinking they are bunking off teaching /being taught.)

We find there is a gulf inbetween what we want to train and what staff think they want to learn. All they are interested in is quick solutions around buzzwords ( Can you upgrade my pc to web 2.0, can you should me how I can teach with my Ipad in 5 minutes whilst I eat a sandwhich please?) We found the best way to get training across is speak to union reps and make them think its their idea.

the shared storage need not be a san , you could use iscsi on a windows server to create a share. You could even use upwards of 1 server, ie have 2 or 3 shares across different servers in the same cluster. This is fairly cheap as the nodes could be cheapo ones from ICT direct with loads of processor and ram, and 3 cheapo disks and then buy a decent server with 8x146gb disks. Alternatively, and I think this is the one, you could have two nodes, each with 50% of the vms on, and replicating to the other. It's not failover but in the event of one failing you could start the servers on the other node manually. the replication would be automatic, though as with anything else that's critical it would need checking once a day to ensure it is replicating. Go get 3 decent desktops and go build it! .

Wisesoft password control is your friend on this on.

Your thinking of two separate things here. failover - Shared storage, different hosts. replication - Different storage, different hosts. Failover will work in real time, one node fails the other starts the services.The Vm's can be on any node and split as you like. You can manually failover Vm's without loss of service to do maintenance etc. Replication will only failover at your request, then you reverse the sync and start the original back up at your leisure.
