  1. some brilliant suggestions there ! thank you all.
  2. I'm trying to find a posh word to explain that computers don't care who a person is or what title they hold, they treat everyone equally. Conversely i'd also love a word that suggests that someone is super interested in job titles. For instance. OMG the heads email went into my spam.. That's because the spam filter doesn't care who the head is , its not as hung up on job titles as you are.
  3. Does your router have a filtering solution? Our drayteks come with a 30 day free trial.
  4. is the time zone correct? try doing net time /set to ensure its synced.
  5. how many people will remove it from the wall and plug it into their laptop and think its an aerial.
  6. would a 2820 suffice?
  7. Alcohol tools for mounting and managing isos.
  8. use delprof to nuke the profiles, see if that helps.
  9. chromecast audio into the amp would work. https://www.google.co.uk/chromecast/speakers/
  10. And people with screens off, on Their own devices, in the playground, without a computer etc etc. I just don't see this as a computer problem.
  11. I would recreate the virtual switches...
  12. We flip flop depending on the last "issue" , some classes use individual accounts, some use class logons.
  13. Depends who it is, there are some friends and family I won't help with a barge pole. I use the following.. 1. Have they pounced?, Have they invited you round on purpose and do they have a stack of stuff waiting for you. 2. Is the work/advice actually required or are they just taking advantage 3. Am I being played off against another pro? 4. Would/ Has this person offered me there skill FOC?. 5. Will there be any comeback ?. 6. Is what they are asking reasonable? It is possible? Is it a waste of everyone's time?. 7. Is this a one off or will it lead to the expectation that you will do more work FOC
  14. If the answer is no that's fine but its how you phrase it. Make sure you explain your reasoning behind why its a no and if possible offer solutions even if they are ridiculous. Also offer a way forward and suggest how no can be avoided or a similar conclusion reached. Of course if your talking to the staff rep then don't butter it up , just say no.
  15. I'd work there for a year first. You'll find out loads of little things that will need planning well in advance.
  16. still use mine, really useful for monitoring progress.
  17. Apple... Pi....
  18. Problem is when the head is less professional that you are, I've worked with plenty who didn't much care for my opinion, I was there to serve them and keep my trap shut.
  19. turn off the website logging under the logging policy. It enforces a proxy to 127.0.0.1 and that conks out. likely the same with net support too.
  20. Can you see the proxy settings when this happens? Do you use any classroom management software?
  21. It was going to happen one way or the other, backups my friend are your friend. I suggest you take your laptop to your nearest pc shop and fork over a bundle of notes so they can attempt to fix it for you.
  22. The VL will need to be for all qualifying machines on site. The VL will cover your OS and possibly Server Cals, office suites and various other cals. Best thing to do is engage a VL sales expert ( I'm sure one will be along soon) . They will guide you though the process. MDT will be best for deployment.
  23. I can't imagine doing this without a whole server room and separate infrastructure!. I'd be shocked if this came in at less than £500,000. I'd imagine that would be the maintenance cost!.
  24. This. How a head can justify spending school funds on an uber device when other staff cant is beyond me. However, The head's pay dictates that they should be very good at their job and they need tools to do that so I think dipping into your pocket when you are paid that much and need tools is justified.
  25. Or cabling..
