Yeah, I've got a creeping feeling that it's a corrupt default profile. All the googling I've done keeps mentioning that. Being the faux Sysadmin that I am, I have no backups of a VHD. If this works, that's the first thing on the list, methinks. Can I use a default profile from another server to copy onto the RDS one after deleting default? Thanks for responses, btw.

Cool, thanks for that. Just ran Delprof2 on it, and it deleted a profile called uvhdcleanupbin which was mahoosive. Am hoping (beyond hope?) that this may have been the problem. Will monitor!

Help! Have created a RDS server on 2012 R2. Was working fine up until about a month ago. Now we have random instances of teachers logging in and getting The user Profile service failed the sign in. User profile cannot be loaded. Event viewer gives errors 1500, 1502, 1508, 1511, 1515 and 1542, though not for each logon failure. I've turned off enabling user profile disks, deleted all the virtual disks, both on the RD server and the DC. Deleted all user entris in c:\users, and deleted user profiles in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/Currver/Profile Lists. And I'm down to my last clump of hair. What am I missing? Is it worth rebuilding the whole thing?

Anyone had any experience of this? We're looking to manage OSX and IOS predominantly, with a few Windows 7 and 8 thrown in. Was looking at Caspar suite originally, but am open to change. 350 sounds about right. It's an autistic school, so high staff to pupil ratio. Just got a quote from a company called Millgate, apparently with office 365 subscription model, we can get away with 120 licences of office pro plus (the majority of LSA staff don't use the machines), and install on all machines. Pupils don't get charged for licences. Sweet!

Hi there, Need some assistance on Office 2013 licensing solutions. Basically, we have about 200 pupils, about 170 teaching assistants, around 60 teachers, and 30 odd admin/support staff. All teachers and admin/support staff will have their own machines, there will be about 2/3 machines in each classroom (say 20 classrooms), and around 30 more machines in breakout areas across the school. Would an office 365 subscription for, say 120 people, cover us for this situation? Or would a site license be cheaper? Do Microsoft dtill do site licences? Cheers

Group policy seems to be deliberately ignoring any settings we apply regarding proxy configuration. I'm just reading a related post regarding IE Maintenance settings not being applied if folder redirection is enabled. EDIT: Tried that. Didn't work.

Our Local Education Authority has recently changed our proxy server to be transparent. As a result, any machines we have around the school which have proxy settings in place cannot access the internet. Problem is, our group policy has an enforced restriction on users changing proxy settings (some of our kids are too clever by half!). We can change the following keys in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\internetsettings proxyenable and proxyserver However, there seems to be some kind of hangover registry setting which applies the proxy settings when the user logs in. We can find this key in HKEY_USERS\%SID%\*same key as above. Logged in as local admin, I've amended the Default user NTUSER.DAT file to take out the relevant registry entries, I've even amended the NTUSER.DAT file in the specific user profile, but it still manages to find the keys and apply them when the user logs in. Gibbering wreck on the horizon. Any ideas?

Well it's much quicker to load when wired in, but i'm guessing that's cos the transfer speed is that much higher. TBH, we've got an aruba AP in our main school, which is far quicker than the AP in the mac suite. I'm going to see what sort of load times I get when I hang one of the machines off that. Should've tried that before posting! D'oh! Will report back with developments.

Hi, We have a suite of macbooks which log in to our domain via a macserver onto our AD, using network logins. This works fine, desktop and documents are redirected to the 2008 R2 server very nicely thank you, and dock settings are managed via workgroup manager on the macserver. The problem is, when Word 2011 is kicked off, it takes nearly 5 minutes to load up the configuration files. It doesn't help that their access point is a £20 wireless router, I know, but testing the server read/write speed on a PC gives pretty high throughput from LanSpeedTest. Is there any way in Workgroup manager to specify a local path for the preferences files in word 2011?

OK. Gets weird now. We've also got a machine running webjet admin to collect info on printer supplies and forwards them onto our consumable supplier. This fell over when our old SMTP server got canned too. Have set it up to point to our SMTP relay (forwarding on to Office 365 Mail server) and this works absolutely fine (using port 25). Still no joy using our relay for scanning to email.

Awesome. Had no idea that FOPE existed. Nifty for reports! Do I stipulate the internal network address of the printer, or the otward facing IP of our organisation? Could I use an email address instead? Thanks for your help
