What do you have in place at the moment?

It does have a diesel noise, but its smooth, my old Golf felt like it would rattle your teeth out. Audi sits at lights without any movement or rattles.

Tank is about £70 and I get about 450 urban miles out of it. Motorways are far better. Nice thing is you can drive it as roughly as you want and the economy doesn't go down.

Got a 52 plate A6 Sport 1.9 . Pulls like a beast and very little in the way of repairs over last 5 years. Estates are good but saloon has a big old boot on it, depends what you are shifting.

Also works, I'm stuck in a teenage environment where none of the little terrors are identifiable so use photos to document what they've got ( not always time to process) and what they look like ( not who they claim to be! ). Not sure what minmum wage is but it could cover the cost of repair and you could assign the person to assist with "training" which always sits well with teaching staff.

Employ one person whos sole job it is to physically hand them out over a counter and take a photo of each person with the equipment. Once they bring it back photo gets taken off wall.

I'm not 100% on the law but I work on the basis that access should be on a needs only basis and should be supervised where possible. Our server room has a combo lock so it locks behind us and the code is only known by me, the caretaker who fitted it and the bursar. i'd imagine it would work, if you need to auttnicate you can add smtp to iis and forward the email on. That script sends to sos which is our helpdesk, that way we have a record of the change.

We don't have a rigid formula but we do consider the following things.. 1. Does it effect T+L 2. Does it effect other business functions of school? 3. How many people does it effect? 4. How quick is the fix? 5. Was the right information sent in the first place? ( Sounds harsh but obv a ticket saying computer don't work doesn't get instant attention) 6. What caused it? 7. Do we have suitable staff on hand 8. Has it been endorsed by anyone with power?

Think of a SAN like a normal hard disk, but instead of a sata cable you use a network cable to access it ( probably fibre just to muddy waters) Think of NAS like a network USB stick. You just plug it in and access files.

I'm a big fan of not answering other peoples questions. If they have said the school need to do this then they need to do the leg work. Get them to produce a proposal and then discuss the proposal.

How about removing the computers from the desk? Maybe have a wall mounted monitor and a caddy to put the keyboard and mouse in when not on the desk? or put it on a pole if no wall space ( like a projector pole)

unfortunately we run several email systems ( rules of the federation) and we have one particular member of staff who gets offended about everything and correlates it to peoples positions ( OMG they need access to the site 24/7 as there child attends the school, I can't believe that went to spam, We demand total mobile phone coverage, what if a teacher needs to phone for an ambulance!)
