I need to access my Meraki account to take an iPad out of lost mode, and I can get to the login screen, but then after I login the page just hangs. Just wondering if anyone else is having a problem?

I'm intrigued by this post, as I was just looking for suggestions on replacing our ICT Suite PC's which are coming up to 7 years old, they are Stone i3 with 4GB. From the sounds of this thread, they should still be ok but they are struggling and my gut reaction was that at 7 years old it was time to replace them. Can you get someone in to refurbish existing PCs? How straightforward is it to replace the Hard Drives with SSD drives?

Having read about the demise of 'Sims Bulk Uploader', I'm guessing the answer is no, but this seems like such a basic thing to be able to doI thought I'd ask. I have a list of all pupils and whether or not they are allowed to have their photo displayed online. I've created 3 UDFs, as we have 3 levels of permission we ask for, and I just want to update the entire school with these fields (True / False), so 3 User Defined True/False fields - Photo may be used in school, Photo may be used on school website, Photo may be shared with local newspapers. Is the only option to sit and tick them for each student? Which seems prone to error apart from anything else.

What a shame. Would have saved me a lot of work

I labeled all the PCs using a silver paint pen, it's not an 'asset tag' as such but it enables me to identify them and they can't remove it.

Can anyone recommend any sticky ones that actually stick? I need to put them on the kickplate under the desks and I just can't physically nail/screw them but the sticky ones keep falling off. Cable situation is getting very desperate so I need something that will work.

Ah, that is different to our issue. We definitely had to delete the pre-installed (or possibly installed by pupil) apps and then let the MDM reinstall them.

I have had this issue too - I haven't read the whole thread but will offer my solution, as we encounter this a lot. You can buy the Apps for free in the App Store using your VPP account, then you need to delete the original app from the iPad and push out the VPP version using your MDM, this links it to the iPad without the requirement for an iTunes account.

I use Apple Device Management for Schools and Districts | Mosyle Manager MDM Free version. I am using it for over 100 iPads and it's working great. I can't see any reason not to use it for 1, and then if you need to scale up later you can. I also use Meraki and Lightspeed at other sites, and I haven't found many things I can't do on Mosyle so far. I use it to set restrictions, push out apps silently, put iPads into Lost mode, find them on the tracking screen, and set custom wallpapers with iPad Names and serial numbers. For free I have no complaints at all.

Thank you, I thought there must be a reason, but I needed to clarify that when I could see Windows stickers on all the PCs.

What is the advantage of this over buying stickered laptops? My quote is over £3000, we have 60 very old desktops which all have Windows 7 Pro stickers on, and all of our laptops were bought on the high street so also came with Windows stickers. The previous Network manager had an OVS contract which has now expired, and I'm struggling to justify repurchasing if we already covered by licenses that came with the machines.

I have uploaded a photo, but currently my account is being reviewed. If they will let me back in, I'll add a number of real people but the account is only about 10 minutes old and I was just about to add the head as an admin when it kicked me out.

I am attempting to do this today, I started by creating an account using the email facebook@schoolemailaddress. This appeared to work, I've created the school page, and then suddenly I was asked to upload a photograph and I'm locked out of the account I assume I should have used my real work email address but was trying to avoid linking it back to a specific person, in case I leave. Now, I guess even if I start again, I can't get my page back and I was quite happy with the name I'd used. Has anyone managed to retrieve a page after this?

At one school where I work, we used to use Meraki which was free, and do still use it for one old class set of iPads. It works well but it's no longer free for new users. For our 1-1 iPad deployment we use Lightspeed which costs £5 per ipad per year. At the other school where I also work, we needed a free solution, and I found Mosyle mentioned on here. It has some paid for features but so far I've been able to do everything I need, and for free I really can't complain. All 3 of them can do the same things, they all look very different. I think I prefer to use Meraki but that's also the first one I used so I am more familiar with it, but I've been able to lock them down, install apps, unlock forgotten passcodes (very important!), find lost ipads, etc on all of them. For our 1-1 deployment, we offer parents 3 choices. They can lease an iPad (we use Jigsaw), they can provide their own iPads, which must be factory reset and added to our MDM, or we will provide an iPad which can't leave school. We have a small percentage who opt out, about 65% lease, and 30% bring their own. There is no discount to leasing, in fact with the insurance policy and case it works out more expensive, but they replace or repair the iPads without any issues which was important to us.

As far as I can tell, Apple Classroom does require an AppleId if the iPads are in a Management system. The manually create classes seems to only be offered to unmanaged devices. Our staff can see the classes that I set up in Apple School Manager and dont' have the option to manually create a class.

Our Year 5s have 1;1 leased iPads, I have issued them all with a school Apple ID from Apple School Manager which they use for their iCloud, and then they use a personal AppleID for the App Store if they want and personal apps. Any school apps are sent out via our MDM automatically. one of our students has brought be her iPad as she can't buy any personal apps. Her parent has created family sharing AppleIds, and her's is set up so that Dad has to approve any purchases she makes. However, when it's linked to the Apple School Manager iCloud account, she gets a message 'You can't ask permission because you have signed in with iCloud and iTunes accounts that are not associated with each other' I've removed the school iCloud account for the moment which has fixed the problem, but if we ever get Apple Classroom working then she will need that putting back on her iPad. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any suggestions?

We have recently been upgraded to Word 2013, and I am trying to add a field to a SIMS report. Previously there was a dropdown listing all the fields in your report and you could insert them but that seems to have disappeared. Anyone know where I find it? The problem seems to be linked ot the Word List Report option, they are appearing in RTF format. However, I'm trying to create a sheet of Photos per class and my template uses the Word List format.

Anyone else regretting moving to these? We are having so many issues, mainly around the fact that you can't share a subfolder or even easily send a link to it. But also even staff with 'full' access can't move files between folders, or delete files. I am seriously regretting implementing them and considering moving everything back to a normal shared folder.

I've been using ASC Timetables for the last 10 years, it's very easy to use and works well. You can set up different rules quite easily, so if you always want Maths in the morning for example you can force that. THe only thing I can't do is import it into SIMS. If someone can point me to some help on how to manually setup the timetbale in SIMS I'd be appreciative. http://www.asctimetables.com/

if they are staying in the classrooms, we like this wooden unit Buy Desktop USB Tablet Charger Storage Rack | TTS I also have a proper lock n sync for ipads that roam the school, but the wooden one does the job. I bought 1ft cables for it to avoid tangling. We have 30 ipads in the classroom but they are just charged as and when needed, we don't have all 30 on charge at once.

We are using something called ASC Timetables, it offers a number of exports but not specifically a SIMS one. If I know what format is required for SIMS, I can probably produce a file in the correct format from the ASC output.

We have 3 printers set up, so that you can go to any of the printers, you enter a code and your print jobs are listed, then you select which to print. They are UTAX printers and one is the master and the other two are slaves. The master is currently out of toner, but the other 2 work fine, except that the print jobs are never leaving the server, they are sitting in the queue presumably because the server thinks the printer is out of order. Because they aren't getting sent to the master, we can't pick them up on the 2 working printers. Is there anyway to force the print server to send the jobs even if it detects a 'fault' with the printer?

Is it possible to import a timetable and what sort of format does it need to be in? We create ours in an external program and I'd like to put it into SIMS without having to recreate it class by class.
