I was thinking about that but I'm worried that it will confuse some staff members....

We use Surface Pro's here, and it's been pointed out that when someone types in a password the key strokes are highlighted on the projector, so if you are quick you can work out someone's password. Is there a setting which would prevent the keyboard from being projected?

I have set up a google team drive, '2017-2018 information', and shared it with both the staff@ group, and also with 2 individuals directly, I can see the drive and add stuff to it, but they can't see it at all. They have the team drive listed but no actual drives within that. Any ideas? We are using Google Apps for Education.

If you create a Team drive in your new account and add your old account as a team member. You can then move your old documents into it, so far this appears to work but you can't move a whole folder you have to do it document by document. The team drive is owned by the new account and so is everything moved into it. I used takeout to Download everything and it was a mess. The downloads are not in a logical folder structure. I wouldn't recommend. I have been told the app works well. Use the app to copy your folder structure onto your pc, then login to new account and it will reupload to new account. But I think shared documents will be uploaded by everyone so you will get duplicates.

One school uses iris IRIS | Pupil behaviour management for secondary schools. SLT like it but I find it very clunky behind the scenes and it takes up far too much of my time although if you have your timetable in SIMS it may work better. The other school uses https://www.epraise.co.uk/ This seems much more positive focused although it does also track poor behaviour. I don't know as much about it, but it certainly looks more modern.

You can only use Meraki for free if you already have an account.

We have both iPads and Chromebooks. The iPads are very popular but I think more work gets done on the Chromebooks and they were cheaper and last longer. I have Samsungs that are 4 years old and while I have replaced a few screens, they are still working fine. The big question is, do you want to be able to type? The ipads get used for web browsing, making videos, taking photos, but the Chromebooks are used for creating slideshows, leaflets, writing essays, spreadsheets, all your office type stuff (using google docs), the tech department using them for Cad (using an online app). I think they get used more than the iPads and they never cause me any grief. Surfaces are very expensive laptops, and personally, I'd buy laptops before I'd buy more Surfaces. Our staff have them and we have loads of trouble with them. I will be reluctant to buy more (they were purchased before I arrived) as I think a normal laptop does the same as the surface for half the price and less hassle.

I am just using Mosyle, and one of it's features is that you can have different permissions set for different times of the day. We don't use it as our iPads stay at school but it appears to be an option in the paid MDM, the free one doesn't include the time restrictions.

I have been looking for a free MDM to use, as I was using Meraki at my previous school and obviously that's not free anymore. I stumbled upon one I'd never heard of before, https://myschool.mosyle.com/, and it seems pretty good. There are some things you can't do in the free version, but it is allowing me to set restrictions and bulk add apps which were my main concerns. Thought I'd share as I've had a lot of useful info from these boards.

No, not even close. When i right click on a document in the properties it says it's offline, even though we can browse to the server from the PC so it is definitely online.

We have a user with a laptop which she uses at home. Her Home directory points to a folder on the server, but she can use the files when she is at home. This isn't a setup I've used before. She is having a problem in that all her files are greyed out (at school, on the network) and she can't open them. The documents are on the server and can be opened on the server, so they are there but she can't access them. Any ideas? I've resynced offline files, but not sure what else to try.

We have a spare set of monitors/keyboards/mice in one school I work in. I like this setup as the kids really grasp that this little device is the actual computer. in the other school we use the second monitor port and have a HDMI cable available for the Pi's to use (main PC using VGA), and we just unplug the mouse and keyboard and attach to the pi. We used them remotely with VNC and it worked ok but there was a lag for things like Minecraft which we used a lot.

We want to run a sonic pi club and I have downloaded the rasberrian jessie which has sonic pi on it. It all boots up but when you run Sonic Pi you just get the initial flash screen and then nothing happens. We are running as Pi but I've also tried as root and it was no different? Anyone get this to work ?

Is there any progress on this> This is something we need to implement quite urgently.

I use both Lightspeed and Meraki - I find them both very good. Lightspeed has more features than Meraki, but I can only afford it for the BYOD leased iPads. Meraki works pretty well for me, but I only haver 24 pupil iPads and about 30 staff iPads on it, so I'm not pushing an App out to 1600 like the poster on the other thread.

I work in 2 schools, I use the free version of Meraki in one of them, but have nothing set up in the other. I know you can't get the free version anymore, are there any alternative low-cost MDM options? We do have Apple configurator but I'd prefer something that I can use wirelessly.

I did see that, but I first tried last Tuesday, and have had an email back from Google saying it has completed. Your content has arrived! The Google content transfer you started on Mar 24, 2017 is done. So I don't really believe anything else is going to get copied across at this stage.

We do, but I also have a lot of personally owned documents which haven't migrated either. I do agree, it's a royal pain!

We are moving from an LEA run Gmail service, to our own Google Apps for Education account. Yesterday, I ran the migration tool for schools, https://takeout.google.com/transfer?pli=1, for each of our staff. The emails appear to have mostly copied across but very little of the google drive has, however, a few documents have copied which suggests the permissions are ok to allow drive documents to be copied. Has anyone else experienced this? I also have access to a migration tool from within the Admin panel of our new GAFE account, but that only appears to do the email and not the drive. We use the drive extensively so there is a lot of data to transfer. Has anyone else made this move, and had any success in migrating the drive? I'm trying to avoid a mass download/ upload as it converts everything back to Word/Excel format but will do that as a last resort.

We have Office 365 in school but I don't know if all of the schools involved would have access to it. There are schools in 8 different countries who all need to be able to upload and view videos in a common secure area.
