We have occasional problems with the Ipads losing the wireless connection, and hten I have to manually enter the password and the proxy details. it just occurred to me that you can scan a QR code to connect to the Wifi on an Android device. It doesn't seem to work on an iPad. Has anyone found an App that will do it? It would need to include a proxy as well. My thought is I could put the QR code on the trolley and then if any don't connect the kids can just scan it rather than having to find me.

I've just doubled checked and it's working fine on 24 out of 32 computers, no idea what the difference is with the 8 that don't work. I do like the idea of EasiMaths, I will give them a call in April when we have some budget to work with.

OOh, hadn't heard of that. It looks like it will cost us £600/year as we have over 250 pupils, but we only have about 20 that use it, so I don't think that's going to work unfortunately. But have had no end of bother with RM Maths so that would definitely be the easiest option. - - - Updated - - - Oh, and compatibility mode doesn't make any difference.

I have RM Maths installed on about half the PCs in the ICT suite, but it just won't install on the other ones. I get this error message config.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Close to terminate the application. I've googled and it suggests copying a config.nt and autoexec.nt file from the repair folder. We don't have a repair folder but I have tried copying them from PCs where it is working and it isn't making any difference. All the machines were created from the same image, so I'm really not sure what else to try. Anyone else encountered this?

I'm not familiar with a specific annotating app. We just edit the original google doc using a different colour/font, or they leave comments in the margin.

Do you mean just to write a google doc, or to add comments? There is a google doc app which works pretty well. BUT, we can't use it with school gmail accounts due to the way our school accounts were setup (We login via a platform not directly into gmail). I have used it with my personal email and it works pretty well.

Yes, that's what I have done in the past. It works pretty well unless you want to access Minecraft (for which it is far too slow). I've got a coding club going at the moment, and they are using Python to create buildings in Minecraft. You can't do that over VNC. I also think it confuses the kids. As they are using their normal PCs to access the Raspberry Pi, they don't seem to grasp that it is a computer in its own right. I think they are more effective when used alone.

The current monitors don't have a HDMI input. We will be replacing them probably over the summer, and I was wondering how easy it would be to switch between the 2. That's definitely a possibility. I've just found these as well, which look good as well. I particularly like the case with the Pi mounted on the back.

Our ICT suite has desks where the monitors fold away into the desks, and you can't access the ports, so they don't work well for the Rasp Pi. I'd like to order some monitors that we will just use for the Rasp Pi, but they need to all stack up next to each other on a shelf fairly compactly when not in use. I have a handful of old monitors we are currently using, but they take up a lot of space when not in use. Is anyone using a suitable monitor?

These are the instructions I have followed. How to deploy apps with Meraki and Device Assignment | Support Expert Before that, I supervised the ipads using Apple Configurator and added them to Meraki. There are some instructions here, but this isn't exactly how I did it. I don't think Meraki or any MDM supports folders on the ipads unfortunately.

I've also noticed this. In positive news, all the pain has been worth it. I was asked late last night for 2 apps to be installed for first lesson. In the past this used to take me ages with Apple Configurator, but I just bought them on the VPP website, and installed them via Meraki and sometime overnight they all downloaded and were ready for first lesson.

That may be the case, but when our iPads were purchased 3 years that was the decision made so I am stuck with it. I thought I needed to be part of the DEP program to transfer VPP codes to managed distribution, but it sounds like that's not the case. I am still wary of how this is going to work as I don't want to lose access to our paid for apps.

I've been fighting with this for a week or two. I think I've got it setup in a way that makes sense for me. This is for shared student ipads that are in a cart. I am using Apple Configurator 2 to update ipads to ios9 and enroll them in my MDM. (meraki). All I do in Configurator is add a profile with the wifi password, and then 'prepare' which adds the meraki profile. Then in VPP you need to buy all your apps - including your free ones. In Meraki, you go to the VPP screen and sync it, and all the purchased apps appear. Then you go to the Apps screen and add them again - this took me a while to work out. The VPP screens knows that you have a license, and the App screen knows you want to install it. I have then ticked Use VPP device license, and they are installing without any usernames/passwords being required. I also have a restrictions profile set up in Meraki which prevents them changing the ipad name/wallpaper/installing any apps etc. What I haven't quite managed yet, is to push out paid apps without the DEP program. As we bought our iPads from PCWorld/Dixons it looks like we can't use the DEP program. So, that is still a stumbling block. But things much better than they were last week. If the ipads are individually owned and all have Apple Ids then it should be even easier.

I'm using the free version of Meraki, if you won;t be getting more than 100 ipads, you can upgrade to the latest version and it will still be free. So far, I'm quite happy with it, except for a little trouble installing their own app. I've managed to get it setup to push out apps silently which is what I've been hoping for.

I am using the device method, so the ipads don't have an apple id on them Originally it was asking me to login to my AppleID but the ipads don't have an Apple ID on them. I have now ticked the Use VPP device license: option, and it doesnt' ask me to login, it just fails. However, I can push other free apps out no problem.

I'm pretty sure I've bought the right one, Meraki System Manager.

I am trying to install the meraki app and I keep getting the message. Dec 04 06:47 Grant VPP device license - success:false, App:Meraki Systems Manager (472572194), Error:No available licenses were found (checked 1 VPP account(s)} I have bought 100 copies of Meraki, and i've only got 1 VPP account which I've used to buy all the other apps. Is there another version of the App? Or a difference between the UK/USA stores? I can select different stores in Meraki but not on the VPP website when buying the app.

You can stop them adding a passcode if they are supervised. I have the wifi details in a profile, but it looks like they can still change them which isn't great ;(

Finally took this to the Genius bar this morning, who very usefully did exactly what I'd already tried and said 'yes, it's broken', They had no further options to try to fix it, and just offered me a replacement for £199. Considering that's all I paid for them in the first place, I didn't think it was a great offer.

It's a school owned ipad, so I think it will be me that ends up taking it back to Apple.

Yes, It's not responding to that. I suspect it's going to end up needing to go back to Apple, but I have the owner of the iPad breathing down my neck wanting it back.

Any suggestions. I've left it for an hour so far, and nothing has changed. The white line isn't moving and it appears to be stuck.

I had an ipad that went black yesterday, if I plug it into Configurator 2 it states it's in DFU mode. I can't get the cable logo to appear for recovery mode at all. iTunes/Config 1 and Config 2 all offer me the option to restore the iPad, but then the it gets stuck at installing ios 9.1, waiting for ipad and nothing happens. There is an Apple and a grey line on the ipad but the grey line doesn't move, and in Configurator 1 they timer is just empty, where you can normally see it filling up. Not sure what else to try, I've been round the circles of rebooting it, trying to get it into recovery mode.

I have moved to the new Meraki as we have less than 100 devices and I can't see us ever reaching 100. I did eventually manage to get an app to install silently, I had been repurchasing the Apps through Meraki (Or so I thought), but I had to log into the VPP website and repurchase them all through the website and then it worked.

I have been known to go to the Head's house to fix his internet.... But we went during school time, so I figured if that was how he wanted me to spend his time, then that was up to him. The most common reason people can't access the internet that I find, is because they have the school proxy set on their laptops. I do have a little app installed on the laptops which should help them switch it on / off but it's too hard for some.
