I'm just about there. I'm just not sure how the RSS Feeds work. I can see the output of the feeds if I use Chrome. http://wmsmessages.eu.pn/feeds/receptionnoticesfeed.php displays Notices for reception screenhttp://wmsmessages.eu.pnTo be displayed in receptionen-ukCopyright ©Dancing MessagesYear 5 dancers at 12.00 Mon 8th Dec 14Football PracticeYear 5 Boys after school on Tuesday Mon 8th Dec 14Dancing RehearsalsYear 5 - 12:00 Monday Year 6 - 12:30 Monday Year 7 - 12.00 Tuesday Year 8 - 12.30 Tuesday Mon 8th Dec 14 But I can't seem to pick them up from an RSS Reader. Do I have to publish it somehow?

I've just changed the year groups to 5 - 8 rather than 7 - 11, and removed the maths and canteen screens. I've managed all that, but am a bit stumped about setting it up internally. I wasn't going to put it on the internet as it's just a local system, and I don't have any webspace. I've got it working on my server as localhost. It all looks fantastic, but when I try and access it from any other machine in school it is asking for a login, and I think smoothwall is blocking it as well. Plan B is to try and find some webspace.

it's taken me the best part of 2 days, but I have it up and running! I need to try and customise it now for our year groups (5-8), but I think I can manage that now that I've got all the components in place.

it's messages2014, but I couldn't get that to work. Presumably because it couldn't find the password file. I edited out the password check for the time being. I'm still struggling with MySQL, the version I installed through the web installer was 5.1 but myPhpAdmin won't talk to less than 5.5, so I'm now trying to reinstall. None of my issues are related to the app, just to my lack of experience in development.

Thanks, I will try that tomorrow. I've spent the best part of today battling with it, so hopefully if I install mySql it will come together quickly.

I've got very close to implementing this today, but I am a bit stuck. I am trying to set it up internally, running as localhost, as we don't have any useable school webspace, and it's really an internal system anyway so doesn't need to be out there in the public domain. I've managed to install IIS & PHP, and can run the system, but my problem seems to be that we have SQL server rather than MySQL. I think I've got the tables set up correctly in SQL server, but I am not sure how to change the connect.php module to use SQLServer, or indeed what the username / password would be. (It's currently set to use Windows Authentication) Would I be better installing MySQL? Can I have both running? As Lansweeper is using SQLServer and I don't want to break that. Many thanks for any help. Bev

When does FFT update for the new year?
Bev replied to studio's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
It is interesting. I'm not sure what we pay, but certainly for this year we aren't getting anything for our money. According to that, new Y7 won't be included until February. -
When does FFT update for the new year?

I see they have added KS4 data today, but I can't access it for my year 7s. They are still showing as in Year 6. Is this the same for everyone? -
When does FFT update for the new year?

It now says 25th November on their website, but the date has changed 3 or 4 times already. -

When does FFT update for the new year?
Bev replied to studio's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
Interestingly, I've been to a very similiar meeting this morning. I also like the UPN feature a lot, but am a bit concerned that they will no longer be providing KS3 targets, and are going from KS2 directly to KS4. I'm not sure how we will manage this, but it's a big change for us. -
When does FFT update for the new year?
Bev replied to studio's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
I'm a Middle School, but looking for KS2 data. Nothing there yet and it is w/c 20th October this week. -
I thought FFT normally updated for the new census in mid october, but it's nearly the end of October and I still can't see our new starters (Year 5), does anyone know when the update is due out. I can't see a date on FFTLive. I also have access to FFT Aspire but that doesn't appear to contain them either. thanks Bev

I can get to that page. We tried both IE and Chrome and neither worked, but it must be something getting blocked as the staff have use a different proxy and they can access the page. I didn't manage to really resolve it before the class, so the teacher has had to demonstrate instead.
-
Thanks for all your help, I haven't quite got to the bottom of it, but it is something being blocked as if I connect without going through our proxy server then it is working fine.
-
I've tried that in both IE and Chrome, and they both have error messages. But to me, they look like coding errors so I don't understand how the website sometimes works.

I can get to this maps.gstatic.com page, so I don't think that's the problem Google Maps Street View
-
That link , maps.gstatic.com doesn't work, but it's not blocked, it just says it's an invalid url

Just to add to this, the source indicates it's javascript, but as far as I can tell I have javascript enabled to run on anywebsite. If I try any of the 'test' websites, such as JavaScript Tester at Java Tester Website they all confirm it's ok.

The Computing teacher wants the students to use this website to see how the internet works. Visual Trace Route Tool - Find, Track, and Map the Route to an IP Address When I try it on my mac, it works great, but when we try it on a students account the website doesn't load correctly. I've upgraded Java and tried reducing the security to medium but it isn't helping. As I'm not sure what it causing the problem, I don't know what to do to fix it. Thanks

Has anyone tried this? Hide Settings on the iPad to Lock Users Out | The iTeach Hub it involves putting settings in a folder and then hiding the folder. I haven't tried it yet but am considering it.

Do you have official school Facebook or Twitter accounts?
Bev posted a topic in How do you do....it?
Do you find them useful? and do you have problems with complaints/abuse on them? I've been asked to look into setting them up, but I am a bit wary as we have a number of parents who like to complain and the thought of trying to deal with complaints in the public forum is a bit concerning. We do have a pretty good website which is regularly updated, and currently send newsletters by email fortnightly. -
Lansweeper - Remote control no longer working
Bev posted a topic in Network and Classroom Management
I have always used the Remote Control option on the Lansweeper main screen to access PCs around school, it has worked very well. Last week, I was asked to install TightVNC on all our machines, as we will be using VNC to remotely access Raspberry Pi's. Now I can no longer use the Remote Control within Lansweeper. I presume these 2 things are related. When I click on Remote Control I get a message that the server is not configured properly. Any suggestions? As it is something I use on a daily basis.
