https://gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com/2019/04/office-editing.html This says 'this feature will be on by default' I'm trying to work out how I turn it off
-
No, it opens in Google Docs but it saves the file in a different format and some behaviours are changed.
-
It's when you get a little DOCX logo at the top, the teachers are complaining that sharing the document doesn't work correctly, but to be honest, I've just tested it and it seems ok to me so I'm going to have to try and see exactly what they were doing.
-
Is there any way to turn off this new word format? It's causing a lot of confusion as documents which need to open in Docs and be shared documents are now opening as Word and don't share correctly.

[ms office - 2016] Office 2016 won't install on new laptop
Bev replied to Bev's topic in Office Software
Thank you! I ran both of those, but I think it was the .Net framework repair that did the trick. Office is now installed. -
I have a brand new out of the box laptop, that came with Windows 10 home and office apps on it. I've removed the office apps, and upgraded it to Windows 10 Education but I can't install Office 2016. I am getting Error 1935. Any suggestions?

I'm currently getting quotes to replace our wireless infrastructure, most companies are quoting for Uniquiti, but I have had a very competitive quote for Cambium. It's not a product I'm familiar with, so I was just looking for anyone's experiences with them? Bev

Dual purpose furniture to be used as classroom and IT suite
Bev replied to genesis's topic in Learning Network Manager
I also have these, although the double version, and I agree, they are pants. We've actually had the whole cabinet fall down and land in a students lap more than once. I'm about to rip them all out and replace with normal tables, which is how I stumbled upon this thread. At another school I used to work at they had ones like this - https://zioxi.co.uk/portfolio-item/zioxi-p4-to-p10/ operated electrically by a removable remote so only staff could open / close them. They were very nice and worked well. Although hard to access monitors / cables etc, but that's true of all of these kinds of desks. -
My preference is for one company to do the whole thing, as I'm not an expert on wifi configuration, and I'd like one point of contact if I have any queries or issues.
-
I have had a quote from Omnicom in Gateshead, if that helps you? Why are you wanting to replace Ruckus - should I avoid? Although to be fair it can't be worse than Huawei
-
I am looking to replace our Huawei Wifi with Ruckus or Unifi, and need to get another couple of quotes. Can anyone suggest a supplier based in the North East (North Tyneside / Newcastle). We currently have support out of Leeds and it doesn't really work as they are too far away if anything goes wrong, so really looking for some local options.
-
It would appear the DSE regs don't apply to pupils, so it's just a case of if it's going to cause any issues but it sounds like many other schools are doing this already.
-
It was customisation I was worried about but they would be unlikely to be sat for more than an hour

We currently have these chairs in the ICT Suite - https://www.aaofficefurniture.co.uk/plastic-student-chair.html they have been pretty good but they do have a tendancy to snap, the chair comes apart from the base. I need to replace them, and I'm thinking of just getting normal student chairs https://www.morleys.co.uk/postura-plus-school-classroom-chair.html Is there any reason I need to buy office style chairs??

[ipad] Recommend iPad Charging Cables - bulk?
Bev replied to Bev's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
That's perfect, thank you -
I need to buy about 50 charging cables, I have previously bought very cheap ones from Amazon but they don't work particularly well. Can anyone recommend some reasonably quality ones that aren't £10 a cable.

Apple phoned me last week to say that the latest iOS has fixed it. I think it's 12.2 I have now implemented a Global Proxy so I haven't tested it out.

So we have bluetooth enforced to on (as I checked they were all on before I set the restriction), I would assume that would allow them to connect to other devices?
-
So even though I have bluetooth restricted, they can put it in airplane mode, and switch the bluetooth off? That explains a lot...
-
Is there anyway of preventing the pupils using airplane mode to disconnect their iPads from apple classroom?
-
We currently only pay for Lightspeed MDM, any idea how much it costs to add on Relay?
-
That's quite interesting as we already use Lightspeed to manage the iPads. Thank you
-
If it works, then that would be acceptable as we can hide / remove the other browsers on the ipad.

We use Netsupport to monitor desktop usage, and I can get reports on every website a child has visited etc. I need to do the same on our iPads, but for some reason I can't get the NetSupport app to work with our proxy. I have been on with NetSupport trying to resolve it for about 6 months, but I need to find an alternative as it's becoming more important that we can do this monitoring. Ideally, we'd like something that monitors the iPads whether they are in school or at home. Does anyone use anything that works well?

I followed this instructions https://marckean.com/2010/02/09/setting-up-proxy-pac-files-in-iis7-for-proxy-use/ I had some difficulties getting it to work, and then it did work and I can't honestly tell you what I did that fixed it, as once it was working I didn't touch it again! - - - Updated - - - and yes, i put http://server/proxy.pac into lightspeed (but Meraki looks the same)
