I have received the above email, but I can't work out how to renew the certificate. We use Apple School Manager and Lightspeed. I do have a Mac but not a Mac Server, and I only use the Mac with Apple Configurator for supervising BYOD iPads. All our school bought ones using DEP straight into Lightspeed. I can't find any certificates in Lightspeed, or Apple School Manager that expire tomorrow. Any ideas where I look? Thanks Bev

I ended up creating some generic email addresses, and creating a handful of accounts using them. It was only for a small club so that worked for my situation but it's not ideal if it's for the entire school.

I use Lightspeed, and I am sure the groups etc all all set up correctly as it is working for my iPad, and the teachers with issues can see all the pupils on their iPad but they are all showing as offline, even when they are online for me at the same time.

I am having quite a few issues with Apple classroom where it is not picking up all the pupils on the staff members iPad, but if I go into the classroom with my iPad I can see them all, so I know they are all online / bluetooth on etc. I've tried reinstalling the app, so I know they are definitely on the latest version but it doesn't appear to make any difference. Has anyone got any other suggestions?

We use Google Photos. the iPads can be set to automatically sync to a Google Account so the photos are in the cloud as soon as they are taken.

However, Relay still only gives a list of websites, whereas DNA gives context on the website and a screen shot if something inappropriate is typed. Are there any other alternatives? Just so I can assess my options.

It's not that straightforward. You can't prevent deletion of some apps and not others, it's all or nothin. As our iPads are paid for by the parents they are allowed to put their own apps on them, which means they need to be able to delete their personal apps. If they remove Relay it will redownload but it will be missing for 10-15 minutes.

I speak to them all the time about different issues, todays issue is that multiple iPads have dropped off the wifi after an IOS update. they advised me to report my frustrations which I have done but I don't anticipate any major changes. i don't know if the speed is due to the number of iPads we have or our internet speed, but our internet is generally fast elsewhere. I find it very frustrating to use, I've got groups setup for all of our classes, when I import the staff from school.apple.com the teachers come through as members of the class but they need to be admin and not members, so I have to remove and readd them. There are multiple ways to view the members of the group but only one of them that allows you to edit the admin. Then you have to remove each staff member individually, which is slow, and then re-add them one at a time, also slow. You should be able to click all 6 and then just remove them together. It's not straightforward to give an app to a small subset of people, say a reading app to all dyslexic students. You have to make a group outside of your class structure. I have been having an issue with ios12 losing proxy settings, and was advised to use a Global proxy which I am doing. I have now got an issue with Relay blocking every single website, and have been advised to remove the Global proxy. It's incredibly slow, and it opens a new tab every time I click on anything - seemingly a minor thing but I end up with 50 tabs open in Lightspeed. I just generally find it extremely frustrating to use. I have used Meraki / Mosyle and Lightspeed, and of the three I find this slow, cumbersome and not intuitive. I also like that in Meraki and Mosyle I can see the location without having to put the device in lost mode. Lightspeed itself mostly works fine but I just hate using it. We currently use Lightspeed which I am falling out of love with on a daily basis. I have previously used Mosyle (at a different school) and I much prefer it. I have 350 iPads enrolled in Lightspeed of which half are linked via DEP to our Lightspeed system and half are manually supervised and then manually added to Lightspeed. is there an easy way to move them to Mosyle, or is it a case of factory resetting every iPad.

I am struggling to find an acceptable way to monitor pupils ipad use? We have paid a lot of money for Relay but it just doesn't work very well - it only reports on webpages visited but not on what was actually typed on the page. And it frequently chooses to block every single website, even ones that are explicitly white-listed. Also if the kids delete the Relay app it stops monitoring them. Pro's - it works with Chrome and Safari. I also have Netsupport DNA, I much prefer the reporting on this, and I can force the kids to use the browser by hiding all other browsers. If they delete the app then they have no browser at all. The issue is the browser is really old-fashioned and doesn't support many of the latest IOS features, such as split screen, or reading mode. Our staff use these features with their classes so they don't want to use this 'clunky' browser. Has anyone got another option they can recommend?

That is the same thread I found, but it is very odd, and I've just sent out updates to 350 iPads, so I am expected mayhem today!

is there anyway I can check if other's have emails stuck in their outbox?

I know this sounds ridiculous, but one of my staff members has reported that gmail sent out a bunch of old emails last night shortly after her iPad updated to IOS13. I can see the emails in the Gmail logs, and many were sent to now defunct email addresses but a handful did reach the recipient. Has anyone else experienced this? It's a bit of a weird one!

Yes we did go with them. We’ve only had it in since the summer. So far seems ok. We have some issue s with iPads not connecting to the WiFi but I think it’s lightspeed relates rather than cadmium but I haven’t tracked it down 100% yet.

DFU worked but that's interesting about the space, if it happens again I will check that.

We have Konica Minolta printers that have AirPrint functionality. I can see the printers on the iPads, and send things to print, but they never appear as we use user authentication and we don't get a popup to enter the username/password. I have seen that it is possible to get the iPad to ask for authentication but I don't know how to set it up. Konica Minolta offer an app, which does accept the username/password but it's pretty hit and miss on actually printing things, it doesn't appear in all apps and it's not straightforward to use so if I can get AirPrint working that would be much easier. I don't think so, 2 students had it independently and they both seemed pretty upset that it wasn't working. I'm about to update my iPad so it will be interesting to see if I have problems, although I don't think it's all iPads as we have 100s and only 2 problems so far.

We have had a few ipads update overnight and they are now stuck in a continuous rebooting cycle, I fixed one with a DFU and restore but I've got another with the same symptoms. Anyone else encountered this? Any solutions beyond a DFU?

Cost is essentially free, assuming you have a spare laptop. Just the cost of the tv screen. I am actually using a laptop with a very broken screen to run it so it's recycling old equipment.

That seems to have done the trick. For anyone else wanting to run an easy way to display a screen- this works pretty well, and it's very easy to update. I am using Chrome kiosk mode, with RevolverTabs set to refresh the slideshow every 5 minutes, so any changes made to the slide show are picked up automatically.

I use a Google Slides to run our front screen, it's set up in Kiosk mode and the tab auto-refreshes to pick up any changes. It all works really well, except that whenever it refreshes it displays a control bar. Is there anyway to suppress this?

I am trying to set up the files, and I can't get my head round 'Classes' and 'Courses'. My pupils are in form classes, or sometimes in Sets, and they take subjects like Maths or English. 1 course seems to have many classes. So would a course be Year 5 Maths, and a class be Year 5 Maths - Set 1, Year 5 Maths - Set 2?

Frustratingly, we have done quite a lot of training over the last few years, and our staff are very good with Google Docs, but this change has thrown them a little.
