you can re-use dc names, i've been doing it for years. i've had quite a few domain controllers over the years and they've always been called dc01 & dc02. my domain controllers tend not to have much to do with the wireless networks... not quite sure why yours do?

cheers, probably just go an buy a pack of both and see what works. techie seemed to reckon that he had some (would be m6) that fitted in normal cage nuts but not this rack, unless its the thread pitch.. they are probably just m5 or m5.5

hi need some rack bolts, according to techie there not quite standard, the racks are weird ones for the edge switches that only have the fronts and don't take cage nuts the thread is built in. anyways, are these kind of things easy to get retail. ie. shop rather than waiting for internet order? thinking we might be able to compare the few we have if we see them in person,

okay thanks, was just asking cause i'm tearing my hair out trying to get a nvidia sata/ide driver working for xp. it does help if you are testing via the rinse and repeat scenario to have a "blank" xp or 7 image to switch the task sequence over to speed things up. @TheScarfedOne not sure if you are reffering to me or gaz but for work purpose i buy hp pro desktops them come with sccm drivers straight on the hp download page. unfortunately what i'm having problems with is a one off test/ lab machine

tbh I think most of them don't care and its about driving traffic and advertising revenue.

i agree i don't really think its a problem, it just would be nice for consistency not to have to advertise it for existing machines and also have add it to the task sequence for new / reimaged machines.

i agree there should be away like the "install all software updates" but for apps. the way i do it at the moment is just let the client work out for itself once its booted, i don't install much software this way as i use app-v so probably not much use to you, and its not really ideal, i would defintely be interested in something that did this. i wonder how complicated the SDK is, how difficult it would be to add an available step to the task sequences

any one got a decent driver for nvidia nforce 4 sata that works with sccm ? (XP) getting 0x0000007B BSOD after deploying the image, doesn't even get to sysprep. i have a driver but it appears tshe textsetup.oem isn't very good and isn't setup properly, has anyone got one that definitely works?

running xp? --> textsetup.oem problem? or are they running 7

hi there was a tool that you could load a msi with and it would actually run through the setup and give you an mst at the end? orca's okay but you need to know what to set where in the string table, the above mentioned tool did it all for you (or was that wishfull dreaming

okay so they caught me out big time. seems they have changed how it responds to the client if it no advertisement or the pxe advert needs clearing. it used to reply with a dummy pxeboot.com which basically did nothing but still printing pending request etc on the screen, now it doesn't even respond with a boot file. not really a problem but take longer to boot waiting for the client to time out. and confused me expecting the old 2007 behaviour

on the plus side, i've nearly finished writing a tools to sync ad with sims while waiting for this to install.

having trouble getting vmware drivers into the boot images now for pe. stupid thing is i've done all this before for 2007. i'm just going to actually install windows 7 on the vm and the install the vmware tools and then driver backup it. seems silly because i've imported the drivers that come with tools in the program files directory and it still doesn't pick it up/

funny i actually did that and replied before i saw yours but thank you. i kind of came to the conclusion by bring a command prompt up as system and then doing pushd \\SERVER\SHARE\PATH and getting access denied. i'm more concerned that I don't know if that is a security risk or not

hmmm added local system to share permission and it worked. not sure i want it like this for a production system. then again not sure i would run the packages source on the sccm server.

HI having some problems with SCCM2012, this is a lab setup so can wipe it. installed it and didn't have any distribution point on the server, its a standalone site server. uninstalled and re-installed and now i have distribution point, intergrated mdt2012 but can't create an MDT boot image or task sequence,. Description = "Failed to get the image property from the source WIM file due to error 80070032"; or error maybe 80070002 sometimes. so i thought forget mdt for a minute and just use sccm, but i can't even import the XP source files via operating system installers, i also tried import server 2008 r2 files that way as well.. The specified path does not contain a valid operating system or you do not have permission to access it. specify a valid path. okay something is screwy here. the unc path i'm using - the SCCM Server's computer account has full control so does the user i am logged in as using the console and can access the unc path via start run. of the share and the security of the files aswell. any ideas?
