About GoodheadDC

  1. I'm trying to capture a hp elite 8300 but it gets to 50% and no further. I not had this issue before and the image on the pc is fresh win 7 64 bit with updates, nothing else. I have disabled all other driver groups, recreated the boot image and added the pe drivers. Any ideas?
  2. We want to network our Epson projectors but Epson charges a small fortune for them. Does anyone know if there's a non Epson wifi dongle that would work with them instead?
  3. we have had a ticket come in about a number of pcs in one of the suites saying the ie icon in the quick launch tray has broken as says can't find iexplore.exe I have also had it in a classroom in another part of the network doing the same. Anyone know if this is a windows update that's done this or something else and how to solve. Deleting profiles might work but if it keeps happening I want to know what's caused it for a permanent fix.
  4. WE have a mixture of Epson, hitatchi and benq projector and most have an ethernet port on. We want to start monitoring them. Is there any software that can monitor them all on one console without us having to install software for each vendor?
  5. we are looking at networking our Epson projectors so we can monitor them. Cabling them would take a while etc so looking at wifi dongles for the time being. The Epson dongles are over £100 and allow remote presenting etc. We don't need this function. Just monitor them. So can you use a standard wifi usb dongle on a projector?
  6. We have wds setup and works well with all other hardware. I have recently got filters to work as well. But our hp 625 model laptops wont image and give error "The computer restarted unexpectedly or uncounted an unexpected error. Windows installations cannot continue." I have told wds that only use the drivers in the 625 group in wds and at the moment is only the realtek nic drivers. These drivers are latest from the hp site. Why are these 625's being such a pain in the backside?
  7. We have been asked by staff to allow them to be able to save website passwords if given the option. We used to have roaming profiles so this info roamed and was stored in app data I think. We now use desktop redirection. We don't redirect app data as I read that it doesn't work properly. Is there any other way to allow them to store this info?
  8. Now that Microsoft has taken away the options to create and update local accounts from gpo preferences, What's the alternative to do this without scripts? Is there one?
  9. Its not a domain account we are making local. Seems we recreate the administrator and then disable. I have disabled this pref and will image and see if that sorts.
  10. I have noticed that in gp we have a policy that renames local administrator to support. That's what we wanted to make it more secure. Lower down in the same policy we have a setting that disabled the administrator account. Do you think there could be a conflict here?
  11. I think the support account setup in gp is also setup with various access rights groups etc.
  12. We are using wds to deploy win 7 clients. We have group policy set to create a local admin account called support. After we have done a gpupdate we then find that the support account is disabled. We then have to go in and enable it. Now following that we have another issue that once enabled we can't login to it. It says password incorrect. If I login another way and manually set it the same as the policy and then attempt login again says same thing. I can login to the account that wds sets up as part of imaging. This is very annoying and slowing us down.
  13. We are using server 2012 wds. Fresh install. We are getting a bluescreen after its installed the image from dvd. *** Hardware Malfunction Call your hardware vendor for support NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error *** The system has halted *** If I then reboot, it boots up fine after that and the image is ready to go. Has done this on 2 different hp models. Thought was ram, but these pcs were working fine before imaging.
  14. we have a html page internally which has hyper links to power points on it. In the source code form the page the file all seem fine. filename.ppt but when users view the page and click one of the power points the path has lost its . and changed to a - which then renders the link useless. we use ie 11 Also if you click it and do a save as the file it wants to save is the same filename-ppt its a very behaviour. Any one else seen this?
  15. We have added the ipads as a bookable resource within outlook. Users could open the shared calendar to view bookings. But would rather all staff see it automatically as a shared calendar in outlook and not have to manually add it. Is there a way of setting this and using a security group to set who will see it? we use exchange 2012 and outlook 2010
