  1. ok thanks, I might give the SSD a go
  2. hi james, where is your DPM sql?
  3. DPM can get quite resource intensive depending on what you've got going on with it. probably best not to mix the two. (false economy)
  4. along with other options you should probably set.
  5. i soo miss netware....
  6. i like the CLI and the features, i just a little concerned when you google the terms extreme networks and reliability or failure rate, all that comes up is 80%+ 63% failure rate. but to be fair to them there are very few results its just the 3 results there is are negative.....
  7. viglen phoned me up trying to flog me machines the other day, after rolling around on the floor and splitting my sides in laughter for around 10 minutes, I took great delight in telling them that the only way i would buy machines from them is if they changed their company name, all their staff, their location, and their business practices. +MSA 2000 is dot hill rebadged.
  8. Opinions on Extreme ? Anyone used them, have them? Failure rate ? Reliability that sort of thing.
  9. hi it appears to be glare any recommendations for cameras?
  10. Hi Am currently looking at putting in some IP Cameras for IT classrooms to stop the little darlings try to penetrate the usb ports with pens etc. I bought a couple of trendnet POE dome cameras a while back, and their okay but the major problem I have is from window glare, if the blinds are up then the camera is pretty much useless.? any suggestions of cameras that won't have this problem or maybe some kind of filter i can try?
  11. app-v fixes the god right problem, you give them the rights with simsperm when sequencing and it retains it in the app-v bubble but they don't actually have full control over HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT on the real machine they are using. ,
  12. Hi I'm writing up sequencing SIMS with App-v, and as i may as well publish it externally I can't actually remember what i needed to install on the image to support it or on the underneath the sequencer. As these bits are on the image i can't remember what was specifically for sims. so far I've got. .NET 4 (Full Version) SQL Native Client Windows Installer 4.5 any others?
  13. cheers, it worked! donut i am, was quite tired last night looking at this
  14. not really no and you can have more than one vcenter server linked where as RHEV you couldn't, but they may have changed with the version that came out this year, I reckon they made it run on windows so they didn't have to release source code. VCP is easy apparently just expensive because you have to do 1500-2000 training course.
  15. lxdm as some lxdm greeter is running. do you know how to change it ?
  16. there was all kinds of weird restrictions on it, and I though it was quite ironic it required a windows 2003 box to run its management server, and its management server was fecked it that box died for whatever reason, I think you even had to have that management server as physical
  17. yeh i was looking at that a minute ago. I dont even have that file which was a bit confusing. this is fedora 14 apparently but i have seen stuff else where pointing at that file for 14. pretty restricted on what i can use being a raspberry pi. Linux for scratch does not look appealing given the compile times on this processor!
  18. have they release a new version of RHEV? was an absoloute joke last time i looked at it,
  19. hmm, looks i need to run my program from X as it uses VLC, trying to get x to login me in automatically, nope. its got XFCE4, I'm, sure i can get program to run automaticllay i just need x to login automatically. any ideas (although I may try getting the program to work under command line, it may require recompiling VLC which took all weekend last time due to the amazing arm processor in the raspberry pi)
  20. kvm is a joke compared to VMware's full feature set.
  21. hi guys, I need to run a program at startup on a fedora system, its embeded really so there is no keyboard and mouse and it doesn't really need any security as there is no keyboard / mouse or even network, it basically services serial port requests only. so how would be the best bet for running my program at startup ? autologin and then run the program? how would i do that, or run it as a daemon , don't really like this obviously i would if it was a networked server but its not
  22. Hi How do i reflash a Wyse C90LE? i have the firmware but how do i reflash it, its just a collection of .img files? WDM makes no sense i could boot of linux and dd the img files on but i have a suscpicion something may brick that way. thoughts ideas and suggestions?

    Conficker

if its using windows update and not wsus then it should be, but there is the possibility that the someone refused windows installing the update. (i'm not 100% on this as i don't use windows update directly) I know I keep this but you still need av as well as the patch. i'm pretty sure its this patch. MS08-067: Vulnerability in Server service could allow remote code execution you should also be able to check it is installed by going to add/remove programs and ticking "show updates" and look for 958644 -------------------------------------------- the patch only prevents the exploit in the windows server service, it won't help you with machines that are already compromised and have gained access to admin credentials, this is what makes this virus a bit of a pig because it exploits more than one method to infect machines.
