i could parse the xml, but the csv parsing code is so much simplier. and its already written!
-
yeh i've seen that, it seems i can export xml to stdout or csv if i specify a file. i was rather hoping csv to stdout as i'm calling it from another program so i was just trying to avoid ever generating a temporary file given it has kids names + dobs in.
-
Hi can i get command reporter dot exe to output csv to stdout?
-
that works quite nicely, can you export to word document, don't really get on with onenote

hi any one know of screen capture software. what i'm after is very specific i would like something where i can basically hold down a key comibnation and grab an area of the active screen. yes i know how to use paintbrush and printscreen and alt + printscreen but I have so many screenshots to do with writing documentation i'm looking for something to save time. and also easily able to pull single frames from avi's although vlc + pause and the above would work fine.

can i mix and match directly attaching SFP+ i.e can i plug a HP 10GBE SFP+ NIC into another vendors switch using a DAC or should i look for another tree to bark under?

that server (the one that died) has an onboard broadcom sata controller as well as the p400 raid.
-
yeh it was err fitting that ssd that caused this server to die! onboard sata kept losing the SSD every other boot, so what do you . hmm bios update. ahh should have read the fine print, you can't just use the latest, you have to do each one in series, it seems hp made changed to the boot block etc. oh well, was going to replace it soon anyway, i'm just looking at your suggestion on the other thread of xcases looks quite interesting, just trying to spec up everything I need. any idea what else you need to go with something like this? i.e. how disk / raid controller / etc. 24 bay Hotswap rackmount chassis norco RPC-4224 (note to self, read small print in future.

i take the stance that if the DPM server blows up the san blows up and the server room blows up. i go and get the tape dpm made me the previous day from the fire proof safe in a different building and rebuild from that,
-
hmm if going the external route. id be better off adding to the p2000 g3 and going that route
-
hmm debating homebrew, but i don't tend to be around in this job much longer so would rather leave them with something as "standard" as possible,

Hi got a dl 185g5 that died after bios update. yes should have read the small print, buried in the text file but its done now. no way to ressurect. tbh it was nearing end of life so not bothered tbh. was looking at Dl180g6 12 drive as replacement with 12 X 3TB drives and p410 array controller. i'm being told DL180g6 is end of line. so any ideas for replacement? this is my DPM box btw. will consider other manufactuers but only something sensible like IBM not freds homebrew server

what are you trying to achieve backup for disaster recovery/ backup to restore individual print queues? or migrate them to another server? or is there more on the server you need to backup? because even if you want individual print queues, then just do a bare metal backup and restore the whole machine (assuming VM's here) and extract the queue you want using printbrm, if and when it happens?
-
printbrm.exe would be the official line from microsoft, you need to install the print server role and its found under c:\windows\system32\spool\tools (I think from memory) print migrator tool 3.1 isn't developed any more and does have some limitations due to changes to the way printer drivers work since it was released. vaguely remember one being it doesn't handle drivers with cab files... --- personally though if it is to restore in the case of disaster recovery then use windows backup and make a system state/bare metal backup, and schedule it with wbadmin or powershell. just be aware of the restrictions or schedulded / remotely initiated backups (i can't remember of the top of my head) but network drives, local disks, etc spring to mind. either that or just use dpm and let it worry about.

Hi I want record phone call conversations. the phone system is a nortel bcm and the phone in question is a T7208 branded BT. basically its not tapping someone else's line, its recording incoming phone calls, in much the same way the bank record incoming calls to their call centers. Any ideas suggestions etc.

i've just been to have look I think i'm going to have to velcro the SSD to side of the case of something silly! definitely know what you mean, i do think the SQL IO is fighting the DPM disk IO for the recovery / replica partitions.
