That does sound pretty rough! One of the main issues we had was that we went from lovely CS6, which still works but is old hat, to CC which wouldn’t install on 90% of our PCs due to their age (we are dominated by Core 2s still [emoji4]). Thankfully we have a suite of 10th gen Core machines now and another on the way, so Animate works fine there. Deciphering a predecessor’s work can be tough - I was lucky as I started as the junior tech and moved up, with 18 months of crossover. Still took a long time to be really familiar with everything.

What did you struggle with for Animate? I have ‘21 working nicely, but it needed modern machines, profiles done a certain way and some FSRM rule changes.

'Casting' PC display to multiple iPads

We did this with Teams for this specific reason - in fact, it's why I set up Teams in 2019. That rather helped a few months later. -
I'd rather listen to Mariah.

The noise of those diesel heaters is pretty unreal. Close neighbours will hate you.

I had the same request last week. The Windows 10 filters are very poor though, so I installed ColorVeil to do the job instead. Much easier than opening up Settings through Applocker!

I used a Powershell script to do it: Convert-VMGeneration https://blog.workinghardinit.work/2017/02/27/tips-on-using-convert-vmgeneration-ps1-with-windows-server-2016/ This did everything for me, and I think it worked fine on a production server but it was a while back. I'll need to do it again soon after moving a VM from ESXi to Hyper-V.
-
Your order will be fine. Host first, done some on Hyper-V hosts and they were quick to do. To do gen 1 to gen 2 you need enough space to create a brand new VM which copies the original (and leaves it in place). You can then snapshot the gen 2 VM, in-place it, test, then delete the snapshot and the gen 1.

I tried ColorVeil last week and was impressed. You can roll it out on a network via MSI or with the portable, but the portable needs a drive letter (no UNC paths).
-
Close, but no. It may not even install security updates. If it was just OS increments that'd be no issue - re-image and away.
-
It's updates that appear to be the issue with older kit - they may not work (i.e. WSUS or Windows Updates), if the device is unsupported. Most of our kit is BIOS rather than UEFI, so makes that rather easier - it's nowhere near compatible. Bit sad about my HP Probook G3s though.

Powerline works in the EU (220-240v), the adapters don't do anything electrically, it's just a physical format change.
-
You should be able to get over that hurdle with a PCI-e parallel port card. I've done driver signature enforcement disabling on older OSs, but drew the line at Windows 10. If you're happy to do that I imagine it'll play - but that only gives you three more years of Windows support until 32 bit is gone.

Rackspace hosted Exchange is down due to ransomware.

My Exchange was fully patched (KB5019758). I've removed external access to OWA and ECP now. Mitigation service was already on. -

Eeep. Patched mine to CU23, and should have the November updates in from WSUS (will double check!) Mine doesn’t host mailboxes, but as a hybrid it still needs to be secure. -
Check for the Group Policy setting Microsoft Office (version)\Security Settings\Trust Center\Trusted Catalogs\Block Web Add-Ins

For Windows 10 Edu that date is May 9, 2023. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/announcements/windows-10-20h2-end-of-servicing

Don't think so - anything in yours that is version specific?
-
I’ve just popped the first 22H2 build into our 20H2 estate. Nothing to report, all seems fine - will mean that the OS has support after May which is the most important bit!

They don't really want IWBs! Shame I have a lorry load of them to get rid of in the next few months Had to pay something like £50 each for the last couple to go.

Network Manager is my 'official' title, but not my contract - partly because of pay scales. I get called everything from The Technician through to the ICT Manager - by my email sig says Network Manager.

If they haven't gone already, yes.
