  1. They have no right to it. You can get in touch with http://www.nominet.uk who will force them to transfer it. You don't have to worry there.
  2. Server for what ? DC? MIS ?
  3. Let them know theyre already using loads of cloud servers then. That might placate them. Sounds like a a mammoth task to me... and a totally unneccesary one too... good luck on doing that with a LA provided line too Are you using Apple classroom? Thats cloud if you're using 1-1 ipads.
  4. You don't need a new domain. You can use (in office 365's case, and if you're using a web client) the xxxxxx.onmicrosoft domain on all accounts you IMAP until you're ready to change the MX record of your other domain. Its a bit messy but it works. With IMAP set up mail should appear from the originating tennant and replicate to the new one... then you can just use mail forwarding until you're ready to change or a final IMAP sync again. You'll need to be able to change several DNS records on your domain name too so I'd say move that to another host. (Edited for clarity)
  5. Head teachers and ICT Governors usually know everything there is to know about IT and are in a great position in order to guide an educational environment from a technical perspective. Oh no sorry.... they don't... sarc. :p:p:p:p:p:p What's the function, what do they actually want to achieve, and what's your environment?
  6. @LeMarchand I did this ages ago just by setting up imap on each account and uploading a .csv to (the new) O365 with the account details. Manual also but this was only about 60 mailboxes. Took a few days. At the time. if I had seen what Google Docs was to become I would have avoided O365. I've been in schools where they have adopted Google 100% and its flippin' awesome compared with MS. Google classroom is WAY better than sharepoint.... and MS got rid of their classroom app... and calendars are an ultra pain to manage too.
  7. Met the band at the bar in the Carling O2 Academy in Birmingham a few years ago. Realy nice down to earth guys. Had a pint and a laugh. Good times.. great great band
  8. Had similar to this a few weeks ago too.
  9. I got a Lastolite screen. Very good results and pretty big. Great screen and good quality. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lastolite-Manfrotto-LL-LB7622-Background/dp/B009WQ5LTI/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1544016975&sr=1-7&keywords=lastolite
  10. Never. That is a recipe for appalling cpu bottlenecking and terrible performance.
  11. I whole heartedly agree. Travellers get a really bad rap. I've met some very beautiful people.
  12. Your MS volume licensing will cover CALs. Have you got EES licensing ??
  13. It all depends on spec but..... 2 hypervisors - Dells are pretty good. You need enough CPU cores, RAM and disk space for all your VM's (twice).... Maybe £8K for both obviously depending on spec. Switches / network hardware ? £ Depends on spec and requirements. Look at your Microsoft volume licensing for your clients, CALs, Office, Windows licences - You'll need a licence for each hypervisor and each VM running Windows... plus your CALs - call an MS licensing vendor for comparisons to your quotes. Backup solution such as Veeam for backing up VM's - Ours was about 2K first year then £ 600-700 per year for support. 10-12K all in ???
  14. Lol good one.
  15. Are you on an LA connection? If so, see if your LA will set you up with a VPN.
  16. At the end of the day.... its a computer... its meant to make things easier for people... and it should be getting easier to manage for us admins..... but with M$.... it so isn't. They have got it so wrong in the last few years. Even O365 is full of mistakes.
  17. I plumped for LTSB 1607 too. I still have a few stupid niggles with it. GP's not applying, some loopback processing GPO's REFUSE to work and many other niggles. But.... from what I've read from others and my own experience with trying to use current servicing... its a doddle. I refuse to use current branch. Its cak.
  18. Just wondering if doing them sheds any proper light on the thing.... or is it just shat like we all know already.
  19. Anyone here done MCE's in Windows 10 ?
  20. I'll take that. I think what you really mean though is... its sh*t!
  21. Funnily, Server 2016 isn't so bad. Why dont we just run that on our desktops ??
  22. Well said @localzuk For my 2penneth.... having worked in IT for 20 odd years. I'm finding that the knowledge and experience I've built up using M$'s products; learning the workarounds and tweaks to get it right in a business/education environment are being flushed down the pan. 10 just doesn't work like it should. Even stupid things like having to DISM stuff into an image... like a mandatory profile. I mean come on! Even having the pain of just removing unwanted apps from a start menu is just damn stupid. The FIRST thing kids are going to do when they see Minecraft in their maths lesson is to play it. I hated M$ for their sh*tty products before 10, now I wish they'd burn. And yes I am using LTSB... or LTSC its called now for some fecking reason. They can't even get a name right! Big thumbs down from me!
  23. I've got the G6 Amazon version. Camera is ok but not amazing. The G6 plus has the best one in that range and its good.
