  1. Also set the permissions on the script share to include 'Domain Computers'
  2. Hi all, Has anyone got a Smart MX interactive panel yet ? I'm looking at getting some 65" over the summer but want to know how loud the built in speakers are. i.e. Should I get pairs of speakers too ? They're going in small-ish classrooms maybe 10-12m sq. max. Cheers in advance
  3. If you're using Veeam too I'm pretty sure their licensing will only cover you for 3 hosts in total if using per socket licensing. @Domino is absolutely correct. I would be looking at maximising the number of cores regardless of actual sockets.
  4. Allowing the potential for unencrpypted data to be copied from your premises and taken outside is not against GDPR. Unless it actually happens. Then it is and should be reported to the ICO as a breach. So.. preventing a potential breach should be in your data protection policy and should be enforced (by encryption/banning USB's/whatever). Otherwise you aren't taking reasonable steps to protect your data.... Which is a breach of GDPR.
  5. Speak to your photocopier people. They often do document managent solutions.
  6. Its International Day Of Slayer. Top volume everyone :alien: Inter-National Day of Slayer Task Force https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTlS2UDWuww
  7. Nice work. Looks awesome.
  8. I hear you @Asgard & @geohanson Situation is that currently I have all VM's running on 2 hosts with local storage. They are Veeam backed up to 2 NAS's and also replicated to the other host.. ... so at any one time I have 2 backups, 1 replica and the live VM available to run. The main problem is that on one of the hosts I've run out of disk slots so I can't increase capacity on that host... and I also want shared storage - migrating large disk files is slow. Budget is an issue too.
  9. Can't afford a SAN @bald_pig. Was looking at Starwind but I think a decent NAS is sufficient. This is going into a large primary.
  10. Have a look at Startech. I've had a couple of their VGA models in the past from CPC and they're brilliant.
  11. Ebuyer have got some decent HP 250 G6 i3 models with an SSD. I've just had some for about 280.00 ex vat. Theyre very quick but only 120Gb storage due to SSD. Not sure if they have a second drive slot though.
  12. Hi all, Replacing a dying file server (as per my another thread). This is going to be for shared VM storage... mixture of about 20 VMs... one is SQL and one a file server so need decent disk performance and I/O. I'm currently looking at approx 24TB models with at least 4 x 1Gb iSCSI ports and disk expansion. The rack Qnap I have hasn't impressed hence the request for opinions. The software on it is far too full of cr@ppy apps I don't need or want and I/O is p@ss poor. Would anyone recommend Synology ? Never used them. Need some opinions please... Cheers in advance
  13. First of all you've got an issue there with your storage by the look of it. That should be showing x Gb of disk space. Have you set up your RAID correctly. Check your RAID bios.
  14. Those cards will do nicely. 48Gb for 3 hosts ?... or do you mean 3 VM's?
  15. Get a reasonably quick one (x2)... maybe like the type you would use with an SLR camera. TBH it doesnt really matter. Once Esxi is loaded it sits in RAM pretty much anyway. The only thing that will be affected is Esxi updates and boot time. Incidentally... how much RAM have you got in that server? EDIT: Oh p.s... When you get that image installed, post back on here. I've (we've) got some tips that will save you a lot of time and effort. VMWares documentation is pretty cr@p and phone support takes days if you don't pay for premium support.
  16. That's because they are in legal wranglings with the Open Software Foundation.
  17. @talksr I've been running Esxi for a number of years. The core components for VMware are: Esxi - the actual hypervisor (Modded Suse Linux I think) VCenter Server - The management software than provides a GUI environment for Esxi. This can be installed onto a Windows VM (Flash) or is also provided as a Virtual Appliance (a pre configured VM - Flash & HTML5). Have a close look at your motherboard in your ML350. You may have an SD card slot, which is a better option than a pen drive, on which to install Esxi onto. There is no reason why you shouldn't install Esxi directly onto your hard disks either. I would recommend that you use 4 disks in a RAID 10 configuration. This will give you the most space and redundancy. I'd also recommend buying another disk to use as a hot spare. One of the most important things to know about Esxi is that server manufacturers provide their own Esxi disk images on the VMWare site. You will find a custom HP image on there that has all the drivers and optimisations pre configured... This will save you a lot of agonising pain!!
  18. Thats an M.2 SATA isn't it?
  19. Yeah. I was paying £120 for cheap Zoostorm Pentium PCs in March... they're now £220 ex VAT !!!!!!
  20. I have expensive tastes to but I'm not a prat enough to buy 30 macbooks lol. @ozydave pplleeaaasseee don't let the muppets push this one on you.
  21. Is it me or are components and PC's hugely expensive at the moment? I mean like double what I was paying a month or two back ??
  22. Yeah but unusual because it was attached to a disk file that I don't and have never backed up. Its just an old test machine. Odd.
  23. OK so it seems that the 2nd disk is attached to an old .vmdk file lurking in one of my datastores. Quick call to support has raised the question... How the bl**dy hell dis that get there??... and yes I can delete it. Many thanks for taking a look guys n gals
  24. 9.5.0.1536 Only thing on that VM is Server 2016 and Veeam. Nothing else pretty much.
  25. They've been perfect so far (as Vidahost). However Vidahost have just been taken over by TSOHost so hopefully they'll stay the same.
