A lot of the numbers are genuine numbers that they're spoofing, so I don't bother. But saying that, any mobile number that's similar to mine, I won't answer anyway. Same with most numbers to be honest. If it's that important they can leave me a message and I'll call them back.

! The difficulty for studios is that many people still aren't comfortable going to the cinema. The behaviour of your average cinemagoer these days puts me off ever going even before the pandemic. Constantly being blinded by people using their phones, or groups of teenagers talking so loudly you can't hear parts of the film isn't fun... Thinking those kinds of people behave COVID responsibly, and well... the cinema is the absolute last place I'd want to be going. Also, exclusive cinema release could look weak as is being suggested with TSS (I think it's more complicated than that to be honest - rising Delta variant in the US and it being R rated leads to lower box office, so a wonderful opportunity to scream flop for the clickbaiters and sociopaths like TheQuartering) leading to lower takes when it's out of the cinema exclusivity window. We also don't know what the HBO Max viewing numbers are like. I watched Godzilla vs Kong and Black Widow so far this year by paying for day and date streaming. I'd have probably gone to see GvK at the cinema. Definitely would have waited for Black Widow. £20 more for Disney than they would've got. So when Dune comes out in late October, I'm likely to have to wait for it as I am definitely not going to the cinema during the beginning of what would usually be flu season!

The only reason a keyboard on a laptop should fail a PAT test is if there is something electrical visually exposed as part of the damage. If you've got a plastic membrane in that situation then there is absolutely no reason to fail it. It's an electrical test, so the condition of the device should only matter if it makes it electrically unsafe. All laptops get visual checks only, as do the chargers up to the power brick. The only part that needs Class 1 testing is the plug cable part.

In Enterprise perhaps not, but in a UK Education market that's terrified of moving away from SIMS (still 70% market share) its really a non-starter. Especially with some of the Business Managers I've worked with in the past, who'll buy poorer equipment multiple times and end up with it costing more than the more expensive stuff over the same timeframe, if it *looks* cheaper on the books.

We're still working on it, to be honest. Both are excellent. I personally think Lightspeed has the edge when it comes to Chromebooks in particular, but filtering it's very close between them. It's the extra services we're looking at, at this point.

The costs are absolutely ridiculous. £420 a year for 2 vCPUs/8GB RAM/128GB I can buy a Ryzen 3 laptop for that, and it'll last several years. What a non-product.

The apps shortcut? That disappeared a while ago didn't it? Anyway, no. There isn't a way to force people to sync. You can enforce sign-in and then you need to tell them to sync.

GCDS isn't always the best solution for user creation. I guess they're not looking to move to Google as the primary system for students though?If the users email address is populated in AD with the same address they'll be using in Google Workspace then it'll just recognise the users are the same.

They authenticate and validate that the email is coming from your server and isn't being spoofed from elsewhere. The three of them together verify that the email from yourschool.org is coming from the server it is supposed to at the receivers end. If your email is tagged with I'm from serverx.org and your policy says so, my server receiving your message can check that it is, so it's more trustworthy. Think of it like this - if you leave your house, someone could still kick the window in to use your phone, but you still lock the windows and doors when you leave to make it more difficult for them to just walk in unaided, don't you?

The EdTech Demonstrator Programme is the DfE's big push for Education Techonology in schools, with several schools signing up as the regional demonstrators. I say big push... it could push harder but it is at least doing something. So it's more than legit, it's a DfE thing.
