Synced in users should be irrelevant. My user was manually created and it has this issue, even though most staff and students since September 2020 have been synced in.

They informed of this back in May/June though, so it isn't a new thing suddenly dropped on us. The problem seems to be it's ignoring what the OUs say/are set to.

We've now blocked the domain from emailing the school, and I've let the SLT and Office know about the mail itself. Yes, but that suggests they won't revisit the standard at some point, and appointing a body like GSMA to keep a standard. This has the smell of Apple ecosystem control around it, more so than "stifling innovation". Whatever you do, you should set an "external" target to be larger than your internal target. Saying "5 minutes for a password reset" is all well and good internally, but set the expectations a little wider for staff and students. Otherwise, it's a rod up your back when you've had to go all hands for an emergency, but this password still needs resetting...

Not the same author obviously, but I'm listening to the audio book of Lord of the Rings at the moment and the use of the word "queer" constantly has come as a real surprise. I know the context of use has changed, but it certainly was used as a perjorative when it was being written... It's persistent and constant through the first six chapters. That a lot of Dahl's work might need fixing isn't a shock. And anyway, with the Dahl deal if Netflix have their wits about them, surely Tales of the Unexpected is inevitable?! Oh and Young Wonka is already being made, just not by Netflix but by Warner Bros and the Paddington team.

BETT marks 9 years since they announced SIMS 8, and it still isn't really past the testing with primary schools stage. I would not be surprised if they go down the re-write it from the ground up stage. The SIMS problem is (and its a making entirely of SIMS/ESS/Capita's own marking) that if it so much as marginally changes there will be uproar from those who have doggedly stuck to it and haven't moved already. The fact that it's interfaces are out of date and outmoded, and it's reporting is clearly broken is by-the-by.

SIMS is a wing of ParentPay which Schoolcomms is a part of now... In theory they'll be working even closer going forward!
