    Cheers Nick, My main question is how to I get my internal server to talk to the outside world via my external address, so when I am in the outside world all I need to type is https://hap.*school name*.org.uk to login? I have searched but I can not find the steps needed for this to happen. One section said to add the external IP address to the bindings of the site, I have tried but I can only add bindings to the default website not to my hap folder and also I can not seem to enter an IP address to bind anyway, I must be missing something simple?

    Hi All, Such a beautiful day for a quick FPV flight around the ruins of a building sat next to the River Tamar. Some tight spots to fly though but I do like a challenge. Some extreme jello effect at the start but I think that was due to only having about 10% throttle and plummeting to the ground at almost free fall speeds on a knife edge angle.     Cheers for the reply Nick . What 'Stuff' do I need to ask SWGFL to do? sorry I need simple but informative instructions please SWGFL have setup my external address and 'NATed' (not sure that the right term) it to my internal address and opened port 443, I have contacted our website host who have setup the subdomain and have pointed it at the external IP address SWGFL setup. I have checked this by using nslookup which provides the IP SWGFL setup.

    Hi all. I have hit the limit of my knowledge of IIS (little to no knowledge for a fact). I have HAP setup on Windows web server 2008 R2 (server is called HOMEACCESS) using https with a self certificate and all works fine, home directory and mapped drives are displaying fine etc. When I log onto the site using address https://homeaccess/HAP/login.aspx it says the 'SSL certificate is invalid and meant to another site' but I can ignore it and carry on, the only place I found in IIS to add a SSL cert was to right click on the servers name in IIS and add it to there, my HAP application is inside a subfolder of 'Default website' in IIS, is that correct? I have given the server with HAP installed a static internal IP address 10.*.*.2 and have got SWGFL to assign that address an external static IP address and open port 443, this is all done now. I have applied to https://www.startssl.com/ but waiting for them to get back to me. I have setup a subdomain of our school website (http://www.*school name*.org.uk) called 'HAP.*school name*.org.uk' and got that subdomain to point to my fixed external IP address of my HAP server that SWGFL setup (nslookup confirms this).     Hi All, Oh dear, my Quadcopter spent over 24hrs at the bottom of a river. Here are the results of the recovered footage and how the flight was meant to happen. Best viewed full screen @1080p Well after a good cleaning with distilled water and many days drying out, the damage was quite minimal: 1x 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipo - registered 0.05v. I had borrowed this from my spotter CamSump (sorry mate) 1x 20Amp ESC - it still ran the motor but at very low RPM and was twitchy 1x Sony PZ0420 Camera - Works perfect indoors but no longer reacts to light outside (white wash) The flights in the video are in reverse order. I had a great flight and landed without issues, the battery alarm was not going off but I knew power was low. As I was taking my FatShark goggles off one of my spotters mentioned they saw a Common Crane (bird) in a tree, so me being someone that want to capture everything via my Quadcopter thought I would 'just' pop up to get a shot, Bad move!. I miss judge the speed I am descending and apply throttle too late. About 10 minutes of underwater footage was recovered only due to the battery in the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition running out. The GoPro footage captured about 25 fish in total and had the sound of Lee (spotter) and I diving into the water in search of the Quad. Underwater we could hear the battery alarm and ESC's bleeping away but could not pin point its location with only half a meters visibility in very cold murky water. Thank you SO much to my friend Basil Brush (nickname) for coming to my Quadcopters rescue with his skills and Scuba gear, what a star. Also great thanks to CamSump and Lee for all their help and keeping me calm Has anyone else had to recover anything expensive and electrical from a river that would like to share their story and whether the item still worked afterwards?

    Hi All, What a wicked day's FPV. This flight was taken on the day that my Quadcopter ended up at the bottom of a 11ft deep dirty river for 24 hours. It was a great day and so many great spots to fly FPV, here is the highlights of part of the day. I had two spotters with me on this day as the woods were a criss-cross of paths so I had two pairs of eyes looking for the public. Any close proximity to any members of the team including me were well planned before hand and each person understood the risks and consequences involved.     That's a tough question, Yes they are ok but it all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. A Parrot AR drone 2.0 compared to the build in this post are a world apart. (not the best analogy) The difference between a Sony Cybershot camera compared to a 'Big Red', both take great film but ones it full blown and the other is merely dipping its toe. The difference between a Pot Noodle Bad boy and a phaal curry, both hot but one means business. If your gonna buy a RTF quadcopter then the DJI Phantom would be 10x better than a AR Drone. As I said above, it all depends on what you want from it and what its purpose is.

    Well If I just hover around then its about 7minutes on one 2200mAh 11.1v LiPo, if I am doing FPV and get some good runs in then I try and land about 5:30 or at most 6:30mins otherwise you can damage your lipo's or at worst have a very long walk to retrieve your copter. I recently flew well over the time allowed and the end result was ditching the quad into 10 foot deep of mineral rich river water and there it stayed for 24hours until I got a mate in scuba gear to fish it out for me.... lesson learned! LAND when you should!. Full rescue video will be up soon with some beautiful underwater shots of salmon etc lol

    Hi All, CamSump and I went to revisit Burrator Reservoir on a beautiful sunny day. My Quadcopter gets two unintentional dunks into fresh water all captured by my GoPro Black in its water proof case. My Quadcopter is not water proofed at all so it was a big risk flying over water at any time but I find it adds to the excitement and joy of flying FPV close proximity. The last crash is due to me flying past the time when I know I should of landed but I thought to myself "Oh just one more time for luck"...oh dear Best viewed full screen @1080p

    No offence taken at all, I just wanted to add my experience to you equation of weather to build a Hex or a Quad. Yes you could program a multirotor on how to manage failure but then you would have to have sensors on all ESC's, Opto's on the props etc because the flight board would need to know which prop has died and how to counter act it, there is a TED talk about 'Athletic multirotors' and they have an algorithm that allows a Quadcopter to fly with control on only TWO working props!, its an amazing video but the copter is controlled by very powerful software with camera's for 3d orientation. I like your bet about not crashing it, at some point part failures or pilot error will crash it but then this hobby has a harsh mistress, Gravity, so your multi will get into a situation where it is at its mercy. I feel a good money maker here but I prefer a sportsmen's bet, if you are that confident then lets say 'You will crash within a year', and when I say crash I mean at least the loss of two props, broken undercarriage/supports, at least one bent arm and maybe a motor shaft or two broken. The only good thing about a crash is that its a good excuse to rebuild it better and stronger every time, I see it as part of the parcel of Multirotors. Either way @Sunnyknight keep me posted as I would love to hear your progress and idea's

    @Sunnyknight Hey I look forward to the results. Is there a reason you are picking a Hexacopter, the reason I ask is because there is no redundancy with having the two extra props, if one stops then the whole hex will plumit to the ground just like a quad because the flight controllers are not adaptive to new situation. A hex would be good for heavy lifting but meaning heavy as in a DLSR or bigger camera strapped to it. The down side of starting to learn with a Hex is that its harder to setup/troubleshoot and dial in compared to a Quad and also WHEN (not if) you crash it then the cost will be A LOT more than a Quad to repair. My friend CamSump built a hexacopter off my parts list from this forum but after the forth crash he realised that he is not using the full potential of the hexa and a Quad is perfect enough, also Hex and Octa get effected by the wind a lot more than a Quad. Just my two cents added

    Lol it was a nice surprise, while I was standing down the lane a bit I could hear something like a waterfall but could not see it. That made finding it via FPV even more fun and then trying to get back to the bridge was a challenge I could not refuse

    luckily its not too expensive, the worst bit will be the time it takes to get to the power distro board to re-solder new ESC's onto it. Each ESC is about £9 when brought in bulk from china

    Very proud of my next video to be released, its called "FPV Quadcopter Underwater Crash", the end is finished with the quadcopter settling on the bottom of a river/stream after hitting a bridge with full sound and vision, its great fun.

    Hi All, I got a chance to revisit Wortha Farm and fun some via FPV. It was a beautiful day but I was haunted by the ever present wind. I got plenty of turbulence coming off the banks of the stream while I was low down which just made it even more fun. There was no damage caused by the crash as you can see in the photo at the end.     This is what scares me about setting this system up again (I tried at version 7) 2 weeks and you have not had a reply to your issue. Have you managed to sort this out yourself or have you given up?

    Hi All, I was lucky enough to be invited to fly FPV around my friends garden in Cornwall. The weather was terrible but I wasn't about to waste a day because of strong winds. Check out 3:40 in the video to see how strong the wind was, this kept my speed down but I will return when its sunny and still to capture it in its full glory. Best viewed full screen @720p

    It also looks as aerodynamic as a loaf of bread. This will be so effected by air currents that it would not be stable and lifting all that weight I doubt there is any power left for performance so again will be killed by a light breeze, also seeing that flat surface I bet some cheeky seagull takes a bump in the middle of the solar panel from 100ft up and cuts its power output in half. This is has much use (in this form) as that Sushi restraint in London using an AR drone with a tray stuck to the top of it to serve food, well maybe that's a bit harsh, at least this can't be controlled by an ipad user so people should be safe, the solar panelled Quadcopter is a good proof of concept

    Hi All, Some close calls and plenty of close proximity flight! This is a hidden away old mine which is about 500 meters deep and surrounded by derelict pump and engine houses, extra footage was provided by my spotter CamSump and his Quadcopter LOS. Best viewed full screen @720p

    Thanks @Pyroman, the Quad is fine luckly, just a motor shalf sheered off, two motor mounts and 2 props were damaged in the end. No damage was caused by the window incident luckly

    Hi All, CamSump and I were lucky enough to get permission to fly around an active Slate Quarry recently which was great fun FPV with all the equipment around. The day ended with a tiny crash that destroyed my quadcopter where as the crash in the video merely shifted my undercarriage a bit lol Best viewed full screen @720p CamSump and I were invited to fly around a Wortha Farm which is local to us, Its set right on the edge of Dartmoor and looks out onto a beautiful church where the sun sets behind it, Amazing Best viewed full screen @720p
