    Hi All, The challenge is to get the flock of sheep grouped together and then move them all to the bottom of the field so that they can be sheered. Normally the farmer would have to walk up the field with his dog and use whistles or commands at the dog to round the sheep up and move them to the bottom of the field. The total flight was just under 5 minutes, I decided to use a 1400mAh Nanotech 3s lipo to give me plenty of time out in the field. Near the start of the flight you can see a group of white and black sheep huddled against the hedge that wanted to stay there, these are a different bread to the other white sheep which is why they reacted differently. The farmer commented that the flock seemed a lot less jumpy and less stressed after being herded by the mini quadcopter rather than how they would be after being herded with the dogs, he thinks it might be because they could all see and hear the location of the mini quad whereas the dogs are silent and the sheep are only reacting to the movements of scared sheep close to them which can cause fear which leads to stress. I showed this video to an RSPCA officer and they thought the same as the farmer. Full permission was given by the land and animal owner. The quads Flight Controller and RC Rx fail safes are set to 0% throttle. Thank you to my spotter for the Day Chris. Best viewed full screen 1080p

    Hi All, Here are some Win and Fail shots from our day racing mini Quadcopters. West Devon saw a group of FPV pilots meet for some excellent FPV Racing of mini Quadcopters, the weather was ideal and the garden a perfect place to setup a track to try and avoid hitting obstacles. We all had so much fun and it was good to put faces to usernames on the day. We all had our own take on how a mini racer should be setup for racing with a variety of components showing their strengths on the day, the Mobius sports camera seemed to be a common item on the quads and had quite a beating all day on every quad but survived very well. To keep things fair we all used 5"x3" props (2 blade or 3 blade) and a 3s setup, the quads were very evenly matched with the advantage going to the pilot that manages not to hit anything.     That is excellent news and a great write up @Ant the beast is looking good and well put together. I enjoyed reading your update and well done on the new baby and DIY completion. As you mentioned I would get rid of those motor mount ASAP and bolt the motors to the arms direct using 2 M3 bolts (don't use the horrible Ali X shaped mounts as they bend too easy). Also I see you are using the 9x4.7 props, I found these too flexible when flying in any kind of wind, the quad would wallow around and get effected by any gusts, swapping to 9x5 props I found the quad felt locked in and it did not care about the wind, plus they are a lot more ridged so more efficient. Next would be to upgrade those arms, I found under high torque the arms can twist and give adverse effects to your flight, also in a crash the standard tin foil arms do not fair well. I used this Ali to replace the arms 1/2 in x 1/2 in x 16 swg - Aluminium Square Tube : Ali Warehouse Swapping the arms out for this Ali added on 80g of weight but the improved handling and feel was worth every gram, also in the last 3 years I have not had to replace one arm made of this stuff which is a testament in itself to the strength of the stuff. Another mod is rotate or flip the top two frame plates so that the arms no longer fold up, I found if one of the arms are only a few mm out then it causes weird handling of your quad, swapping the plates stopped this from ever happening again. If you ever get a chance to take a video of you flying it would be excellent to see it. Good luck with your multirotor adventure and keep us posted

    Hi All, Such a fun day. A small West Devon FPV meet was organised by the guys from BBRC. The location was perfectly suited to this sport with different sections to the garden with mixes of nice long runs, woodland and obstacles. I have not flown with many other people FPV let alone racing them but I thought this sounded a fun challenge. So I packed the car with all my flying gear and made my way to Bideford to meet the guys. We managed to get 4 mini quads in the air for a race at one point but other commitments made a few people leave as it was a nice day so that just left 3 of us to have some fun. I was having major problems on the day with my FPV cam, the lens had become loose in a hard crash from another day and had about .1mm of play which translated to a very blurred and vibrating image which was intermittent but did not stop the day. This was all for fun and to meet new FPV pilots in the area, it was so nice to meet such a friendly and skilled bunch on the day. I managed to get well over 30Gb of footage to make some video's so my next video will be of the whole days events. Big thank you to all that I met who made it an excellent day.     Thank you so much for this reply @SWGfL_Official (Julia) That is the kind of information I needed to go back to the developers (application guys) with, I had not even thought about https not being cached to start with.     Here are some Photo's taken on the day by my spotter. Most are taken during a LOS flight with the larger Zippy Compact 1500mAh 35C fitted while I tested one of the motors which had a magnet displaced when we arrived so I did a quick field repair, I normaly fly FPV using smaller Turnigy Nano-Tech 1300mAh or 1400mAh.     Hi All, I managed to get two full flights done at this beautiful location (the full flight shown was my second flight), the air was very calm inside the ruins but unpredictable near the windows and walls. I had so much fun flying through the windows but some had to be left alone due to plants and ivy. Normally I stand while flying FPV, Sitting down makes me rock all over the place as you can see in the video, during calm moments in the flying I have to reset my body position. No props were harmed in the making of this video The extra shots and time-lapse are taken using a Mobius (normal lens) and a GoPro Hero 3 Blk Edt. Best viewed full screen 1080p

    Thanks for your help guy's. I am not up on how their website works but they said it all works off Tokens? I mentioned that maybe its because externally the 2 PC's will most probably appear to have the same IP to their servers but they said that would not matter (due to the tokens?). I have been unable to recreate the situation myself so I am finding hard to work out how this can happen, basically I am trying to make sure its not something to do with our system in the school.

    Hi All, Here's the harsh cuts of some of the flights I did around the beautiful Cornish garden recently. Warning there is some close proximity flying to myself and spotter (not trying to feed the trolls here) that I suggest no one else do as it was very risky but we both accepted full responsibility for anything going wrong. These flights were done on private property with the permission of the land owners, no one had access during my flights.     Hi All, Here is the warm up video for some of the most fun I have had FPV, its very rare I get to spend too long at any one location so its hard to learn the area to get some nice routes. The flight is the first one in that location on the day and I'm just getting warmed up after a long drive there, having a comfy seat and some shade was a very nice but rare treat. The garden has some excellent different area's. The 5.8Ghz video did very well behind all the hedges and trees and the FrSKY didn't play up once the whole time, I had my failsafe set to zero throttle just in case. Best viewed full screen 1080p

    Hi All, Here is a quick flight around the parade ground of Plympton Castle near Plymouth, Devon. I could not fly near the castle as there were too many people around. Its hard to find things to do in an open space but finding the path kept me well entertained and I enjoyed it so much I thought I would share. I will go check out your build log now, thanks for sharing @eyetea Wicked news you got some great flights in, 6 batts and still walked away with a flying quad, that's a good day indeed! I will give you a shout if I am ever in the area mate, always nice to fly with others

    Hi All, This is what close proximity flying with mini quads is all about for me. You can have so much fun in such a small area and explorer places you might not even walk. This stream was once used to power large waterwheels for Tavistock Bedford Foundry back in 1840's. Best viewed full screen at 1080p

    That frame looks awesome Ben, the arms look very strong and glad they did not cut 'weight saving' holes in them like the Spanky, as that's just a natural weakness. Are you going to mount the FC direct to that bottom plate or do you have some plan? I would use 2x10mm nylon hexagonal posts joined together to replace the 8 long posts and use rubber RC fuel hose on top of those to isolate the whole top plate and mount the FC under the top plate to keep it nice and clean otherwise its going to be sensing all those vibes direct from the motors....something like the style you can see here on my old MiniJAB but on your frame I would isolate the very top plate... Just an idea

    That's Murphy's law @plexer I had hit purchase on two of those on the Thursday evening. They will be used as my mid performance battery between the 1300mAh 45-90C Nano-tech and the 1500mAh 30C Zippy Compact. They seem an excellent LiPo and plenty of bang for the buck. I did some flights with my big quad using the 1300mAh Lipo lastnight, as they are so light and punchy the performance of the quad was eye drying...I.e it was going so fast round the place I didn't have time to blink lol but my flight time was down to about 3mins

    @plexer the price of that frame is excellent, for the price of a Spanky you could get 5 of these frames, use one and have a ton of spares. @eyetea That's great news, you will be flying like a pro soon, it takes a while for muscle memory to kick in so just keep at it and keep us posted

    Ah quality can be an issue from these wholesalers but hopefully Banggood sorted you out a replacement or refund? vgood idea about getting a spare 4-in-1 as I also can't seem to find the parts separately available to replace the broken parts. I am using an Acro Naze32 flight controller, the Flip uses the same firmware and software, 'Baseflight' (multiwii 2.3), both boards do the same job a Openpilot CC3D does (but with refiner code than openpilot) but for £20 instead of £80-£90. Excellent choice That's a great way to learn and seems a very capable lil'quad you have there, plenty of spares and mods to be done when you want to have more fun at a later stage as well.

    @plexer That's a good question about the 4-in-1's, I have never used them, they seem a great idea as you save extra wires and some weight. My fear would be if one ESC starts to go wrong, if you can buy the bits to replace the individual parts then its the smart idea but if you have to buy a hole new 4-in-1 then its not worth that. Those Emax 12Amp ESC's seem great and an excellent price to boot, grab yourself at least one spare (just incase). I use the MiniAfro 12Amp ESC's with the same SimonK firmware.     @plexer If you are buying from Banggood you could get these...they are basically the same motor... DYS BE1806 2300KV Brushless Motor 2-3S for Mini Multicopters - Or these which I near might have some quality issues... http://www.banggood.com/EMAX-MT1806-KV2280-Brushless-Motor-For-Multirotor-p-933931.html A lot of talk on the forums about the RCX motors are that the bearing arrive dry which has caused a few to overheat in flight...best advice is strip them as soon as you get them and add some high speed bearing oil to them (Rc car thin bearing oil is good)
