That frame also looks very good, nice and cheap if you break it, at that price I would suggest you buy two so you have a bag of spares. People say these quads are almost impossible to break due to the materials used but I beg to differ...

@plexer those motors are perfect, they are the bigger brother of the motors I am using at the moment, they were not released when I pulled the trigger on mine (1804's), If I was to get more motors then those are the ones I would get (at least 1806's). They spin up a lot quicker and have more torque. The top photo shows the 1806 motor compared to the one I use at the moment (1804), you can see the size difference is quite a bit. Excellent choice @plexer

Hi All, Here is the first flight I have done using the Spanky around another quad, it was a beautiful day for flying apart from the wind but that didn't stop the fun. Its quite clear to see what footage was from our GoPro's compared to the Mobius shots but in its defence I had not balanced the props and had been mowing ferns with them on some speed passes which has produced a lot of jello effect. I am joined by my friend who has a DJI Phantom with a Zenmuse 2D gimbal fitted with a GoPro Hero3+ Blk, he is flying LOS while I am having fun around him FPV style. Best viewed full screen 1080p

"Complex man logic" I like it I am flying this lil'beast via FPV (First Person View), on the quad there are two camera's, one (the footage you are seeing above) is just for recording the flight so I can upload it to Youtube or Vimeo, the other is connected to a 5.8Ghz video transmitter (housed on the quad itself), When I fly the quad I am wearing a pair of video goggles at is getting a realtime live feed from the camera on the quad so that I can fly as if I am inside the quad as the pilot rather than trying to fly it 'Visual Line Of Sight'. Get yourself a nice cheap and cheerful Hubsan X4, they are under £30 and they fly just like the big quads but at a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the repair cost when (not if) you crash

I built the three min quads with the same mind set I did with the big quad... "build it to survive or at least minimise repair costs", this mind set does not lend itself to the idea of 'weight saving', the last quad was built to last, all electronics were contain inside the frame, the frame was dialled in and so smooth to fly but SO underpowered due to the weight, momentum was its worst enemy as it just did not have enough punch to counteract a tight turn. The main parts of the frame were 4 plates, 1x2mm G10, 3x 1.6mm G10 using carbon extruded rod as the arms. If I did it again I would use 1.6mm on the base plate and 1mm for just 2 other plates...

I am afraid I have to omit its an off the shelf frame, I built three different designs of mini quad but I just could not get the weight down enough to still have plenty of power, the amount of hours I spent tinkering and testing I thought in the end I will just get something that someone has already ironed out all the problems so I can sit back and have fun. This is a Spanky Mini FPV frame, the all up flying weight is about 550g, compared to my final design quad of 700g+

You wont regret getting into this hobby my friend SO much fun. I have found something even more fun than this build and that's a Mini FPV quadcopter. The power to weight ratio is crazy and the cost is a lot less (apart from having to by a ready made frame or make one)...

Hi All, These are the maiden flights of my new FPV frame, SpankyJAB. I had already made 3 different designs of my own 240mm quadcopter but I just could not get the weight down enough to the point of excellent performance. The video begins with footage from my first ever FPV flight of the Spanky, I did a quick VLOS test and all seemed AOK and the frame seems very stable. I have not done any tuning of PID's or balanced the props at all as I was just too excited about having a fly. Dartmoor was very windy that day, I found the quad loved going with the wind (down hill) but because it is so light it had troubles flying straight into the wind unless I was at full tilt. After about 5 minutes of flying on the open moor I got bored with no objects around to buzz, so off to my local testing ground to play with the tree's. Best viewed full screen at 1080p

Hi All, What an amazing site, there are old tin mining pits all over the place and plenty of ruins to fly around via FPV. This site dates back to 1180 as farm land and then the tin mining started around 1790 to fuel the industrial revolution. This day's flight started with a prop breaking mid flight. In the 'forced landing' two props were damaged and I only had red replacement's props hence you can see red in the top left corner of this video and a bit a shaking during the flight due to a mis-aligned arm. Lol cheers mate, sorry to disappoint I so wanted to go under there but having the road above and also my spotter losing direct LOS for a bit was just too much of a risk to justify it....maybe if I worked for Maplins then I wouldn't give a care about safety lol

Hi All, Here is a revisit to a location I flew when I first started to fly quadcopters back in August 2012. Its a disused quarry on Dartmoor, the stone from this quarry made the Falklands War Memorial at Port Stanley on the Falkland islands. Video and radio signal stayed constant while playing around this site which was a surprise due to all the metal work and walls. If I ever revisit this site then I will be increasing my speed for some great action. Best viewed full screen @1080p

Haha glad your still enjoying your Hubsan, you could always upgrade to the FPV Hubsan you can output the footage from the remote onto a larger screen or goggles if needed which would be good. I keep the boat from China well stocked with props on its trip over here as well This is Grenofen Woods, near Tavistock, Devon. I am flying/swimming/sinking in the river Walkham... https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.5144566,-4.1355082,17z?hl=en I landed in part of that long straight stretch of river. I used to camp in these woods when I was a kid, great adventures. LOL great comment

Hi All, Well I managed to sink the Quadcopter again in the pursuit of the perfect shot lol. This day was one of those days where nothing was going right, I had already hit about 8 objects during my flight due to many factors, going too fast, not knowing the area, bad light but it all came to an end after hitting the water. Not much damage was caused during the crash, Only 2x props were damaged and after drying out the Quad I found one of the ESC's had given up, luckily that seems to be the only damaged caused. Hi All, A quick revisit to this stunning woods turned out to be great fun. I was convinced that I would be taking the quad home in broken twisted parts but luckily not a single prop was damaged, maybe I just wasn't going fast enough lol. The woods are part of the Great Devon Consols which has a long history of mining, you can see a spoil heap in the video that I dive off for some adrenaline fun. Best viewed full screen @1080p

Hi All, Here is a few FPV flight I got to do after work one day. CamSump and I ventured off to Cotehele in Calstock, Cornwall. Its a beautiful house and grounds but we did not pay to enter the grounds as it was about to close as we arrived. It was very wind on this day which made me nervous flying too close to the water and made the quad shake in the gusts, so when I was presented with the open field with playground then it was game on for some speed instead. I had not changed the angle of the camera before the flight which is why most of the footage was unusable because when I accelerate all you can see is the ground. Best viewed full screen @1080p

Hi All, Sorry for the pun in the title but the quad did actually collided with the beach more than once this day. Full cloud cover and a strong breeze didn't stop the fun at Blackpool Sands. A few flights were had before even going near the sea after my last experience where I lost my quad for over 24hrs in deep water and had to get a diver friend to rescue it (video link in description). The good thing about flying around open spaces is that not so many props are damaged with collisions but I do like to have objects to fly around so when I saw the rocks it was game on. I joined a few fellow FPV'ers at this location who were flying planes but one had another quad with a gimbal who kindly provided the extra footage and of course my spotter for the day was CamSump. For FPV I am using Fatshark Attitude SD goggles with the Fatshark V3 vRx and and V3.2 vTx, both are using Skew Planar antenna to give me a rock solid video link.

Hi All, Now that the evenings are starting to get lighter, me and a few friends had the first "after work" flight of the year. I have never been to these ruins of old Cornish mine buildings so decided to explore via FPV. I used some smaller and lighter Lipo batteries for more performance on some of the flights at the cost of less air time but increased fun factor. Best viewed full screen @1080p
