  1. @plexer That frame looks wicked but it looks like you are going to have to land 100% flat each time otherwise those back props are gonna die. Maybe an extended landing gear to keep it off the ground. What flight controller are you going to use with this? might be a nightmare to setup for this config but if it works then you will be laughing. Good luck with the printing
  2. Hi All, This is the second part fo me chasing nutters down a hill side. The video is abit shakey as I am still fine tuning the frame after a full rebuild. Some FPV and some LOS mixed with my friends Hexacopter and tripod footage aswell. Best viewed Full screen @720p
  3. Part 2 will be released later this week which was shot with a Quadcopter, a Hexacopter and a helmet cam
  4. Hi All, I have recently been meeting with some nutters on mountain bikes that like nothing less the hurling themselves off steep hills and jumps...so that's when the fun starts. This is the second flight after my rebuild of this frame, I have not quite got it as spot on as last time but after a few test flights it was ready for FPV....here are the results Best viewed full screen @720p
  5. and on the configuation side.......it all depends on what pod I find for the top, but I have spent the last year tinkering and 2 full rebuilds to get this frame spot on and how I need it so will probably be pretty much the same config
  6. Cheers JJonas. The rebuild will mostly be time consuming trying to get CG right and all the parts in different places coz I have to change the FPV pod on the top because it was totaled. Parts...well thats 4 new props and balencing 30mins-£4, make new undercarage 30mins-£free, new motor 15mins-£6, repair mount 10mins-£free, new pod and replace bits inside 1hr-£no idea (hopefully free) and then alot of tinkering to get it 100% spot on again, so about a full evening of tinkering and about £15 and I should be back in the air, hopefully back and flying by the weekend
  7. Quote JJonas "wreckage pics please" Too soon mate, Im still licking wounds lol
  8. That would be a good feature but at the speed I was doing then it was my own fault. People have talked about using front facing long range ultrasonic sensors for that purpose but there is not a great need for it. There were ultrasonic sensors on mine to do height hold (upto 2.5mteres) then the Baro takes over but I removed them and disabled it because its just no good over strange surfaces like grass but rock solid over concrete or a road.
  9. Hi All, Here is a video of the death of my Quadcopter. This was the first attemp to coordinate 3 different cameras to make one shot using 2 multicopters and a head cam.....well it did not go so well for me Damage was all four props broken, motor shaft sheered off, bent motor mount, destroyed FPV camera pod, bent Skew Planar antenna, broken under carrige/camera mount, torn lipo velcro strap and a brused ego. so a full rebuild will be done and lessons learned ;D Best viewed full screen @720p Extra footage came from: CamSump: https://www.youtube.com/user/CamSump/videos?view=0&flow=grid Fez Bennet: https://www.youtube.com/user/fezbennett/videos
  10. Hi All, Here is a video done on a recent and rare good day of weather, all the pieces of the puzzle came together for a fly after work so me and CamSump made a trip to Wheal Jewell Reservoir. I first spotted it on Google Earth as it was near a strange black line (the feeding leat) so thought it was worth a visit. As you can see it was freezing up there with the ice forming on the water surface. Best viewed full screen @720p
  11. Sounds great @Zimmer, do you have any photos or video footage of your efforts yet? I would be interested in seeing it
  12. Hi All, Here is a fun video I did recently, beautiful area and really interesting to fly around FPV. I managed to get myself in a few photos without people knowing and also got a round of applause at one point. Please comment if you liked this video Best view full screen @ 720p
  13. Hi All, Its been a while since I posted some of my videos so I will add the missing ones now to this post. Most were done full FPV as I have a new FPV camera which is great but some are still Line Of Sight. 14. Well in the long run it will serve you better because if you ever wanted those features you would have to purchase this FC anyway so might as well get it out the way now No doubt worth every pennie. The real time telemetery is going to be wicked!
  15. @FragglePete What? you got the APM2.5+, GPS and telemetry (433Mhz)? How jelous am I now! Wicked, you should have lots of fun with that, full autonomy. Let me know when it arrives
  16. @MYK-IT Cheers mate, I could talk about this hobby all day, I'm addicted. Hopefully you will never see me on TV for a stupid multicopter act, I try and minimise risk and threat to others so hopefully no one will bother me like the Blacksheep team etc get. Great forums for this hobby are: FPV HUB - Index Multi Rotor UK Both are UK based and have some of the most friendly and helpful people for any of your troubles @FragglePete I see RCTimer has a deal on at the moment for the APM2.5+, GPS and telemetry (433Mhz) ~£80 WOW thats a bargin!
  17. I agree about the APM2.5, hell of a bit of kit! the GPS side is a must on that if you have the option along with the telemetry kit (think its 433Mhz) so has some great range. RCTimer does seem the cheapest and give you the different pins to solder on, they also sell cases for it which is good. keep me posted
  18. It is strange that people (me included) spend hundreds of pounds and 10's of hours to build these multicopters and then rely on a £5 motor and a £2 prop to keep it all in the air. P.S I would not recommend using a CD or DVD case to protect your flight controller, on my first design I used it and it gives little to no protection in a crash as it splits and shatters which might go striaght into the very thing you are trying to protect. Tupperware, its the future...I've seen it, its water proof and large branch and heavy fall resistant.
  19. @FragglePete There is some great progress right there, damn shame about the props coz it would be good to have different colour props on, my friend ordered 6 pairs of 9x4.7 and one of the packs was 9x4.5, pure lazzyness of the supplier I say because they look so different. I would of thought you were going to take the quad to Florida to have a good fly in the sun to grab some sights @Zimmer cheers for the info, be careful about range issues if you are using the 2.4Ghz vTx, you didn't mention what your radio gear was using? is that 2.4Ghz aswell? if so I would suggest you go straight to 5.8Ghz. Ive not played with the MultiWii boards yet but I have seen some increadable flights with them so I wish you all the luck. I have heard few good things about the DJI motors and lots of bad things about them, from poor construction to complete burn outs......motors and props are a hard choice, trial and error is a great way but I like to find solutions to that people already use, say 2212 1000Kv motors with either 8x5, 9x4.5, 9x4.7, 10x4.5. Depending on the size of your frame and payload then each of these has its advantage, I would stick in the middle with 9x4.5's. So order yourself a load from China along with a stack of props but be willing to wait at least 20days for them to arrive. The Mystery motors and brilliant, for the price they are well made, come with prop adapters and all fixings needed, cost less than a tenner each, get them from a good place and they will come with 2.5mm shrink wrapped bullets. I am using Turnigy motors at the moment but have a load of Mystery motors on order. The X525 frame is brilliant! so tough and super stable. I have modified mine by adding an undercarrage as real estate is at a premium for camera and batteries, I have replaced all the arms with thicker ali which has added a total of 80g to the flight weight but the advantage is no twisting or movement at all. Get rid of the landing feet as they weigh alot, break easy and get stuck in the ground on hard landings which will cause you to flip on takeoff. This is one of the rare frames (V3) that comes with a third plate on top of the center plate that keeps the whole frame rock solid and completly flat at all times. Without camera my frame comes to a flying wieght of about 998g and soon shoots up to 1.2Kg after all FPV gear is added. Another frame would be a flamewheel or a similar clone but I don't like these too much as there is alot of plastic on them.
  20. Thats good to hear @Zimmer, if your feeling excited now wait till your first full FPV flight happens! WOW what a rush. Thanks for the links. So what FC and FPV gear are you using and what motors/props are you gonna be using? I hope you keep us posted on your progress. Check out FPVHub if you are really into FPV. I am currently adding FPV gear to my Hubsan X4 so I can fly around the house full immersion just waiting on bits Watch this video of a Hubsan X4 full FPV flight.....EPIC!!!! FPV Hubsan X4 Part 1 - YouTube
  21. This video was made during the weekend during a break in the rain. The video is a bit shakey due to strong winds and also a bent motor shaft, new parts are on their way. Best viewed fullscreen @ 720p
  22. Both great bits of kit, never done ready built becuase I like to modify to my needs but to someone else it might be just what they are looking for. Problem with ready built for noobs is that you skip the main theory behind the build etc so if it goes wrong you might spend WAY too much to fix a simple problem but thats just my opinion I will watch that Colin McRae video tonight, thanks for the link
  23. @FragglePete Im still looking forward to seeing your progress. Well on the FC side, the Cirus AIO Pro V2 has been released and its looks great, its got all the hi-precision sensors on it but its half the price of the Rabbit, I have not used one but when I get another flight controller it is either going to be that or an APM 2.5. APM 2.5 is an andrino board that is so good, its open source and the software is the same/better than others that cost thousands. Make sure you get your props balenced just right, youtube has some great videos on how to do that, I just balence the props by adding tape to the lighter side. @hardtailstar here is the parts list I added to this site http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/105744-fpv-quadcopter-basic-parts-list-jabcopter.html a friend has already made a Hexacopter from this list so you know its all good
  24. Hi All, Here are some video's that I did over the recent holidays we had. The first two have a few clips of my friend learning to fly his Hexacopter which he built using the parts list I posted on EduGeek. All best viewed in fullscreen@720p FPV Quadcopter Holiday Fun with crash FPV Quadcopter The Bears go down to the woods today FPV Quadcopter Winter Time This last video is a bit shakey because I had a damaged front arm and I later found out I had a bent motor shaft which was sending the flight controller into a quivering mess lol but I was in such a rush to get in the air to capture some snow before it melted that I did not mind. Check out my channel if you want to see more or subscribe so you know when I add a new one https://www.youtube.com/user/jab1a/videos?view=0 So did anyone build a multicopter over the holidays?
  25. @FragglePete well I did it, brought a Hubsan x4 from Nitrotek £31~ delivered and also brought a ton of spares from Banggood.com for £11 delivered. It should arrive on Thursday......im very excited. Also my Spider frame turned up for my big Quad today so my weekend is going to be very busy and definutly fun
