Theres only them and Conservative standing in our area and I would never vote for them a) because I dont like the party in general and b) they've been in power for a few years and have done nothing for the town

 

The BNP are running in the area next to me, shame I cant put in a vote against those pr*cks

I don't know... never really given it much thought. It'd have to be either Conservative or Lib Dem though I think. Probably Lib Dem. It might end up as neither as it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm not going to let them ruin it .

 

However, they are using the school for a polling station and the bottom of the school is cornered off tomorrow. Apparently if anyone goes down there, they get arrested. I just know I'm going to forget... and I'm serious, lol.

Well in all honest I'm not even sure where the building is I'm meant to be voting in, but if I do manage to find it I'll vote Lib Dems as there's no party in Scotland that really deserves a vote, most are absolute muppets!

I have lots of choice here:

Independent - he's a prat (doesn't even know the name of the school his kid goes to!)

Lib Dem - Don't really agree with their ideology or Grandpa Ming

And Two Tory councillors - "Hug a Hoodie" Dave - mind you, I know one of the conservative guys standing and he seems alright.

 

I say we should have a "None of the above" vote - so the government can't blame low turn out on apathy, but on the fact that they're all crap!!

Normally vote conservative, but now they aren't the conservative party anymore, and there is noone to replace them. Wouldn't vote labour. The greens, lib dems bnp and plaid cymru are all mental cases that only fools would vote for and UKIP are.... welll.... just a little bit useless.

 

So I shall be either spoil my ballot (if enough people do it then they'll have to count it) or just vote conservative as per usual.

There is (and has been for donkeys years) an independent candidate for our local area. As per usual, I'll be voting for him. Afterwards, said bloke will more than likely buy me a pint in the pub. It's corrupt, but it damn well works.

Although I have put my vote in the "Green" box I am a little disappointed in the lack of Labour support. You may not always realise it (especially when our budgets are cut) but the amount of money going into education over these Labour years is enormous - far more than the Tories ever put in. Of course they have made mistakes and cocked things up but I always feel that they feel a little more embarrassed about their failures than their rivals.

It is true that labour have put a lot of money into Education which may not be there if they go - but these are local council elections, which have very little bearing on this in real terms.

 

People do not always vote the same way in local elections as they would in the parliamentary elections - these are really about who is going to do the best on your door step.

Last time a conservative got into power in my area all the teachers went on strike until he was removed, which buggered up my brother's education. Which is a good enough reason for voting them in again.

 

My local independent (in power atm) is a corrupt b*st*rd who is trying to get some land he owns converted into a quarry, which would drop all the house prices.

 

My local labour rep is so confident in his winning (or losing) that he won't even send out leaflets; never mind actually turning up on the doorsteps like the others.

Got to say I have no idea about any of the people in my area except one who forced our Scout Group to build a fence and made it seem the council were doing it. When we finally complained to the council about it they knew nothing. He didn't get my vote. THe nice lady who was the only one to be standing outside at 7 in the morning got my vote and then I looked for nice names and where people lived. No one had nice pictures this year so that basis was removed.

The local independant bunch plan to implement a whole bunch of stuff that should've been done ages ago. Other parties? They just rattled off what they did in the past (bar the bad things).

 

Example:

Previous council decided it would be better in the interests of the people (or rather, their own bank accounts) to knock down the local youth club (which keeps the kids off the streets) and replace it with a block of flats.

 

Said independant candidate plans to rebuild said youth club (although not necessary back over the flats). A council that actually does something constructive for the community, that's what I'm talking about.

 

Another corking scandal from my previous council was that they used to have a recycling service, we paid extra and sorted stuff into recyclable boxes. Turns out that despite taking our cash and wasting our time they just threw it in with the regular trash anyway. So much for recycling.

 

All the other candidates have an agenda only for the bigger party. I'm voting for someone who will make a difference to the local area. Well, we hope!

Those of you who 'can't be bothered' are really really sad

 

If you don't vote, you do not have the right to complain about any local services or anything, as you threw away your chance to do anything about it.

I shall be voting Lib Dem - as locally (and nationally as it happens) they are the best choice.

And as for Labour - when the right wing French presidential candidate cites Labour and Tony Blair as something to follow, you know that there is something rotten in the so called Socialist Labour party.

And as for the BNP - racist, misogynist and... words fail me.

 

There is a house near me covered in UKIP posters which has a sign saying:

"My house is not in the EU"

Where does he think it is, then?
