I'm guessing the "white man" hasn't listened to the "black youth" and this is what the "black youth" have done to make sure the "white man" listens

(terms used are taken from the above quote and a teacher at my old place who went on about how "the white man still puts us black men down, he doesn't want us rising up")

 

Surely colour doesn't matter? At least, it doesn't to me. Its like someone who used to work in our office at school, she claimed everyone else in the office picked on her. What actually was happening was she was isolating herself by being obnoxious and officious. So, she was making her own life difficult, without us in the office doing anything different than with anyone else in the office. Are the 'black youth' isolating themselves? ie. identifying themselves as 'the black youth' makes them a subset of society, rather than being a part of society as a whole.

 

To improve your life, you have to want to do it, you have to work hard and get there. You don't just hope someone hands it to you, or bends to your every desire.

I don't know, are this mythical cohesive group known as the 'black youth' who are obviously unanimous in their desire actually saying anything other than that they want to be listened to?

 

I'm just really hoping that this doesn't cause other flare ups. It's got the potential to get really nasty if some of the more despicable groups get in on the act, even more so as I suspect people will have a disturbing amount of sympathy with savage vigilante actions.

 

All these riots are actually doing is giving more ammo to the likes of the BNP and EDL. And their arguments will probably sound more reasonable to people in these lights than if they had been made before the rioting and looting

Not sure whether it was verified or not, but there was a BNP tweet going around, something along the lines of "Text this number and give £3 to the BNP. We wouldn't let immigrants in to destroy our city" or something to that affect.

 

I really dislike the BNP...

like or dislike, they will get a LOT more voters after this because they will play on the fact a lot of people are outraged that this is happening

Turkish and Asian groups have stood up to & chased off rioters. Bloody immigrants. Coming over here, defending our boroughs & communities.

 

encouraging to see the number of people involved in the clean up

from a turkish guy i know in london, he said the turkish were only defending their own shops and own homes (chasing them with kebab knives etc) not a community

As history tells us parties such as the BNP only become a prominent force when people are fed up with their governament and look for extreme action due to fear - it never happens when governement's deal with the situation as the public then have no-one to fear.....come on Cameron sort it out!

Grabatelli will be joining them shortly, followed by the Russian winger Nikanipod

Extreme? Hardly - it's pretty much exactly how the Nazis took over.

 

Hopefully the riots will be shut down soon, and there will be time for people to forget before the next election.

Birmingham's closing up early again. BCU have just shut, I'm glad the missus left early today.

 

Even my local Tesco have locked up their side security doors, and I'm in the suburbs!

 

I hope they don't postpone the cricket tomorrow

Hmmm I've a solution - RELEASE THE POLAR BEARS AND THE LIONS!

 

That said, I've been reading on a few edl/anti-edl boards and before the first brick was thrown they started foaming about race.

 

It has nothing to do with deprived/race/community/not-getting-hugged-enough, it boils down to someone suspected of being a drug dealer (Did read suspected killer, but the link was pulled) being shot in a taxi, with an illegal fire-arm, and the family not being given the answers quick enough (5 mins after, I can understand, but 5 hours later you'd expect some form of a story).

One person gets shot by police, and we're practically burning the cities to the ground, and calling for the Army to be deployed.

Starting to get worse in the West Midlands.

 

One of the community channels on Sky have a live camera out in West Brom where a cars been set alight.
