London Edugeekers: Are you OK?

Does anyone know of any Edugeek members working in London: Do you know that they are OK?

Edit: I used to work in Southwark. I must say I am glad that I do not still work there but I feel for those who do.

Our very dear @Domino lives and works in London! and the ever wonderful @Soulfish also works in Central London but escapes to the south coast on nights. I am sure we have many more than those two but they are the instant 2!

ITV just tweeted the following

Lots asking about Birmingham Children's Hospital rumours - just spoken to them they've had "no trouble - all is safe & quiet"

@ITVCentral

It appears the hospital is okay for now.

That is good news.

Sister's mate is in Lavender Hill and has looters dividing up their haul in her back garden. Police have just turned up.

I work in London and up until a couple of weeks ago, lived in London. East Ham in fact, where a lot of trouble kicked off last night.

My 2 boys were getting texts and pictures sent by their friends that are still there all yesterday evening. None of these friends are the mindless morons causing trouble I hasten to add. I'm working quite near Oxford Circus where apparently there was some trouble yesterday. But thanks for your concern for us London Edugeekers, especially DaveP, it's nice to be thought of.

Oh yay, spread to Bristol too. Just in time for my move...

Hope it stays restricted to St Pauls, Stokes Croft, St Werburghs, Broadmead, Cabbots Circus and the centre!

I can't really articulate how angry these thugs are making me. I am a left wing hippy, as most of you already know, have engaged in protest and am not the world's biggest fan of the way the police behave sometimes, but this sort of thing makes me dig my heels in and support the police 100%, their transgressions forgiven.

Wasn't too bad around me last night. Lots of looting, and apparently a stand off between a bunch of kids and police near a local pub, which then got trashed.

Walking to the station this morning there were 3 AV stores trashed, a bike store and a hairdressers (really?) - all with there windows done in,looted, etc

The girlfriend is off today, so is gonna head right into Bromley town centre and see how bad it is there - give a hand in the clean up...

Just wondering if this wonderful government of ours will still continue their plans to reduce police numbers.....

... or continue spending like Brown and his cronies. Ask me, and the common sense thing to do when in debt is to spend more money. Hey - we can't afford to pay our personal loan, I know let's get another one to help us pay it.

The current government HAS to make cuts. Alright, these cuts are going to affect a lot of people, and people aren't going to be happy about all of them, but can you seriously stand there and tell me Labour should have served another stint? I'm not happy with a lot of the things the Tories are doing, but I'm a lot happier with them at the helm instead of a government that thinks money grows on trees (and all my family have voted Labour for as long as I can remember).

i have to agree. the police get a lot of bad press but at times like this, police or not, these scum would be looting regardless. this has gone way past being about a supposed family man shot (again reports on that conflict as some reports say he was a drug dealer), this is now about opportunistic scumbags thinking now is the best time to cash in and get a new tv or 17 left footed shoes and a pair of trackie bottoms.

and forgive me but its absolute bullsh!t the people saying "oh these poor deprived areas are struggling and this is peoples way of acting out". get to f**k. i grew up in hackney, we were poor, i didnt loot or steal and wouldn't if i were living there now. these are not "poor deprived local youths who yearn for a football pitch to play on" these are scum who deserve a truncheon around their head.

i say drop in a couple of squadrons fresh back from afghanistan or iraq, still hungry for a fight. lets see how these idiots deal with men and women who would shoot you because you stole that alarm clock tea maker and not bat an eyelid.
