  1. Hi All I have 20 assorted Promethean pens, all working I believe (some brand new) and one brand new board power supply. Anyone interested?
  2. For information should anyone be using AeroHive. My problem (above) was that my new AP's were in 'Unmanaged' and not 'Unconfigured'. The information kindly posted above by foofighterjim will get you out of trouble if your AP's are unconfigured. If your AP's are in 'Unmanaged' then you cannot push configs out to this area. The problem and resolution for this was that we were not supplied new licenses for our additional AP's. Once these are supplied it should only be a matter of going to your HMOL, click on Home, select Administration then License Management. You can then copy and paste your new license key in here. Unless, like us, your admin account allocated by Aerohive doesn't have sufficient authority to do this. May be worth a check the next time you are doing any admin in your hive to see if you have more than just an information box in your License Management section. Thanks once again to foofighterjim for your assistance.
  3. Hi all Is anyone familiar with Aerohive wireless? I have added a new AP but its gone in the unmanaged section. All the details have been completed and its allocated an IP but how do I move it into managed? Can't really find any info about moving it in the support docs.
  4. I have this problem too but it is only affecting a couple of users. 99% of Staff and students have logged and created W8 profiles OK. We have W7 and W8 machines here still but in general if a user logs onto a W7 machine they use their W7 profile and the same with W8. The other couple of users can log onto the W7 profiles fine but when they come to W8 just a black desktop. The actual network profile is empty. I've tried all the usual things, deleting profiles both network and local. Certain machines will logon again fairly quickly and some can take an age but the end result is still the same. Black desktop.
  5. The pens are all installed and usable, its just when you log on the default cursor is the pen rather than the standard cursor (arrow). Subsequently if you start moving the cursor around with the mouse and try to click on a desktop icon it doesn't do anything. You then need to select the cursor from the side panel and everything works OK. I'm just trying to work out how to set this back to the default.
  6. Hi We have some Smartboards installed. The problem is when staff logon to the connected PC the default cursor comes up as the pen tool now. This is obviously to do with the board software but I can't see anything obvious about changing defaults. Is there any way of changing the default back to the standard cursor. If the teacher is not aware of this they find that they can't click on any desktop icons.
  7. I've got a problem with one of my PC's. It blue screened the other day but tried to restart it and it won't boot. I thought I'd re-image it but got to the PXE boot stage then just hung. Tried doing a repair from the W7 disk, got past the select repair stage and it just hung again. Tried Rebuild from W7 disk, got to the install and it just hung saying 'setup is starting'. Tried BIOS reset and tried all the above again but made no difference. Run out of ideas now, its like some windows script files aren't running because I can do all the above on an identical machine and they work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Its us that should be thanking you for getting such a great site up and running but thats obviously not forgetting all the friendly and helpful people who use it as well.
  9. If you are cycling from Barking, come down the A13 and hang a left at Prince Regents Lane in Plaistow and you will be right on top of it.
  10. I tried the export list facility in Active Directory but it just gave me a list of display names. I need the actual user name.
  11. Hi Does anyone have the misfortune to be running Classlink 10. If so, do you know if it is possible to export a user list to a csv file and how?
  12. Congratulations to you and your family.
  13. Multiple machines. You go on any machine and get the same error.
  14. Thanks for that. I forgot to put that it is Windows 7. Just seemed odd that all other users can logon Ok until I try to create a new one.
  15. I'm having a few problems creating new accounts. I create a new account but when I try to log this account on I get the message 'The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded'. We use Classlink 10 here but I get the same error if I just use AD. Anyone come accross this before and hopefully have a solution?
  16. I have an Epson Stylus Pro 4450 which worked fine attached to an XP machine but now we have upgraded to Windows 7 we are having problems. I have installed the correct software and drivers from Epson but when we try to print a test page we get a box coming up saying that it is trying to print from a different port. Does anyone have one of these printers or have had a similar problem with W7. Also does anyone have any recommendations for a colour laser that we can put in our art department. We currently have an HP CP2025 which also isn't working well since W7. This keeps failing with memory errors, so I presume that something with a large amount of memory will help. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
  17. Sorry, I've only just got back to this. It's using WDS. I've had to create ghost images in the mean time. Having never used WDS before I've since found out that all the drivers have to be installed on the WDS server as well, so its not like ghost and you just create an image to pass out again. The upshot is it still doesn't seem to want to create an image or pass one out on certain machines despite, seemingly, to have all the correct drivers.
  18. Ah! What a choker. You do get attached to them. I dread the day anything happens to our cat. Keep your chin up and make plenty of fuss of the other one I'm sure that one is wondering where the other one has gone.
  19. Hi all I'm trying to re-image some PC's but for some reason some of the PC's won't network boot. It just keeps giving me a message 'Check cable connection!' and then just carries on and boots from the hard drive. Some of the PC's have been re-imaged fine. They are all identical machines. I've checked the BIOS settings for the working ones and the failing ones and they are both identical. If you log on to one of the failing ones locally you can connect to all the network drives, so there doesn't seem to be a physical cable problem. Has anyone had a problem like this before? and hopefully a solution.
  20. Unfortunately kids today seem to think the only way to gain respect is through fear, at the end of a knife or gun.
  21. The under 16's could do all the community service that the older ones will be missing. Good idea about the E-petition.
  22. I'm in full agreement with everyone on here that says about tazering, tranquilizing or just trunceoning this mindless morons. The trouble is when they get to court most of them will get a slap on the wrist and sent on their merry way. Maybe all those convicted of a riot related crime should be conscripted for a couple of years. Seeing as how it is a punishment they would only have to be paid the bare minimum. The forces are being cut back all the time, maybe this is a cost effective way to bolster it. A couple of stints in Helmand Province might make these dickheads think again.
  23. I work in London and up until a couple of weeks ago, lived in London. East Ham in fact, where a lot of trouble kicked off last night. My 2 boys were getting texts and pictures sent by their friends that are still there all yesterday evening. None of these friends are the mindless morons causing trouble I hasten to add. I'm working quite near Oxford Circus where apparently there was some trouble yesterday. But thanks for your concern for us London Edugeekers, especially DaveP, it's nice to be thought of.
  24. That looks bang on. Thanks for that.
