Didn't show that it needed one. It won't hurt to run one though.

Congratulations Simon

I have a PC which is running really slowly. When you look at task manager, it shows 98% system idle. Yet when you try to open say explorer or word it takes an age to open yet task manager still shows over 95% system idle. I tried closing tasks that don't need to be running but to no avail. I've run registry cleaners, anti virus scans etc but still slow. Could anyone offer another suggestion please.

The girl was underage too. Although in the papaer it said that she was already on the pill but forgot to take it that one day. Was that convenient. What was an underage girl doing on the pill. She surely can't get that without the parents consent at that age.

You could ask Novatech to give you a quote. We had some in my last school and they were pretty good and reasonably priced.

Anything less than a 500cc isn't worth bothering with.

Booted up with ERD and copied in a new version of explorer.exe. Renamed the old explorer to oldexplorer.exe. Rebooted and problem still the same. Started task manager and ran oldexplorer.exe and it worked this time but not with the new explorer. When you try to run this it just says that it can't find it. Didn't have a boot disk for this SP.

Can run Task manager, explorer.exe not running. When you browse to it via start new task you can see it but when you click to run it it says it can't find it.

All of my dektop has dissappeared and the task bar. This has just happened this morning. It was fine when I came in, then tried closing a program down and everything just dissappeared. Tried doing a restart but still no desktop or task bar. Tried restart from last known good config, Still nothing. Has anyone got any suggestions or know of any viruses/bad patches that might cause this?

HT's got a Blackberry - please help
steve_nfi replied to elsiegee40's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
These are a pain in the butt. Our HT has got one. It's alright now but setting it up was a bit of a nightmare. I messed about with the settings for ages before contacting Orange only to find that they hadn't done various thing their end. They had to set up and send some posts or something. (Sorry can't remember exactly what it was now, it was a while ago). Then there was something else they hadn't done. I think it all took about a fortnight to get right in the end. I think I would first check with Orange, a) to make sure that your HT has the right package, as suggested before. and b) that everything has been completed their end. The Blackberry manuals are not a lot of use. -
I'll be there Friday pm.

31 cards from staff, 3 bottles of wine, 1 Champagne (head) plus a present from one of the kids I haven't opened yet. My lot broke up yesterday.

Does anyone recycle their cartridges and who do you use? I'm looking for someone preferably with free P&P or collection. I used to use Collect4Schools but they now charge and are often difficult to get hold of.

I want to try to learn about and install Linux. Can you tell me if it will install alongside Vista so I can have dual boot capability. Also can you tell me which is the simplest Linux OS to start on.

MT-RJ to ST looks like it might do the job. Many thanks.

Hi All I have a 3Com superstack 3 4900 switch. I need another fibre patch lead. Does anyone know what these are called and where I can get one. I've asked 3Com and they wouldn't tell me unless it was registered. Registered the school and the switch and filled out umpteen different forms but still can't track down a name or part number. Cable a bit strange, it starts of as to cables at the patch panel end and goes into one plug the end that goes into the switch. Any suggestions much appreciated.

I agree with that. My first fail was too hesitant at junctions. I had to drive down a road where you had to stop at every junction. Cars parked right up to each corner and a raised camber. All you could do was ease out, have a look and carry on. Not right apparently, if I'd just pulled straight out I'd have failed also. No win.

DON'T we are having a nightmare with it. Support and training not much cop. Few other independents that have it aren't very impressed either.

Do you have a second job during the holidays?
steve_nfi replied to Little-Miss's topic in General Chat
I work full time but still need the extra money. I'd do repair work but there are so many people chasing this kind of job it's not worth the bother. I'm now considering bar work for eves and weekends. you take anything with a family and house to keep. -
Nothing apart from having a Cisco wireless solution installed. IT manager to scared of change. All my time spent fire fighting and moving data around. Driving me round the bend. Anyone got a job?
