I get up and do it myself. Either in-situ or take it down completely. I wouldn't trust our site staff anyway.

There are no beeps when I turn it on. I've popped the battery out for a while. I will try taking the memory out and reseating it also.

I have a PC that won't start. When I power on I don't get the bios screen but the power light comes on and the disc light is on constant, plus the nic lights are flashing. There are no keyboard or mouse lights. Would you suspect the motherboard has gone or could this be something else? Any suggestions before I get another motherboard would be greatly appreciated.

We had a similar problem with ASUS. We ordered 36 of the new 1215n's through our supplier and just before they were due to be delivered into the country they tried to charge us another £50 per unit above the agreed price. Needless to say we told them to poke it where the sun doesn't shine and went elsewhere.

I had a similar problem about a fortnight ago. The laptops would give the message 'Domain not available' when trying to log on to the network. When you log on locally it connected fine but it was because the wireless pgm wasn't starting until after you had logged on. Solution was to uninstall the wireless program and just install the drivers so that Windows wireless settings used that instead. Works great now, no drop outs.

I've uninstalled the Realtek program and let windows install the realtek drivers. Works fine now. Thanks once again for your help.

I think I've found the solution. When I have logged onto the Network and look at the Realtek pgm running there is an option for Windows Zero Config. I ticked the box and this seems to override the Realtek then hey presto the connect wirelessly first time. Many thanks for the suggestions.

The netbooks are Viewsonic Viewbooks. The all came with Windows 7 on but I had to overwite the all with our standard XP image. I had to install the drivers from their website for Graphics, Lan, Wireless, Chipset, Touchpad, Cardreader and Audio. A bit of a pain but once I'd created one I just ghost copied the rest. The wireless drivers are Realtek. The laptops appear to wait for the realtek programs to start before the windows wireless kicks in. If I disable the realtek pgm the windows one drops out as well.

I’m having some problems with our new laptops. When they first start they won’t let me log on to our network wirelessly. It says that the domain is not available. They have all joined the network OK and will log in straight away when connected with a cable. The only way they will connect wirelessly is when you log on to the local account, wait for the wireless drivers to kick in and start the wireless program. Then log off and log back on to the network. I’ve tried giving the wireless dedicated IP’s as well as using DHCP. Can anyone shed any light on this. Getting a bit desperate now as they want to start using this as a mobile IT suite soon and I can’t turn up with a trolley then log on 30 laptops locally so that the kids can then log onto the network.

What about Cisco. We have a Cisco wireless system here and its really good. The AP's seem to have a greater span than others. Easy to use Web interface for the controller and not as expensive as you'd think.

I've found out what the problem was. It was because the file name for the video clip was too long. As soon as I renamed the file to a shorter name and re-inserted it it worked fine.

No I haven't touched the file. This happened to another powerpoint, so I recreated the video clip and reinserted it but still get the same error.

Hi I am trying to embed a video in a powerpoint slide show and for some reason it won't play when you click onto the slide. It has been working fine up until the end of last week. Now when you click on the slide, it goes to start then goes to a blank white screen. The format off the video is WMV and I've tried in in Office XP and Office 2007. HAs anyone come across this problem recently?

Hi all I've just had some new 3Com switches installed but can't seem to get the fibre links to work. The copper links are fine and talk to other switches but the fibre ones won't. The web page says that they are enabled but inactive. What should I be doing to get these talking to each other? There doesn't seem to be any definitive answer in the user manual. The switches are Baseline SPF 2952's.

I am using IE8. It's not an ISP problem because none of the other PC's are affected. I tried 4 times to reply to this thread using IE but kept getting connection problems. I've just had to install Firefox to reply to this.

Hi all Has anyone had problems with Internet Explorer lately? My desk top in school has started to develop a problem where you enter something and the page will probably come up, then click on something on the page and you get a no connection error. Do a page refresh a couple of times and the requested page comes up. Pictures won't resolve on webpages (in fact they won't resolve in some emails come to think of it). This page as I write is covered in red crosses where pictures and emoticons should be. I had the same problem on my sons PC last night, his IE wouldn't even open. I installed Firefox and that worked fine. I'd be grateful if anyone can shed any light on this problem. I've updated Java and Flash in case they were the problem.

The spec is up to the job, Xeon 2.40ghz with 2gb of Ram. It's at the recommended and above spec. Should I just go for the complete clean install? I didn't really want to upgrade because it may keep the settings from the old DC and I don't want this server as a DC but if you think this would be the simpler route then I'd go that way. Oops I should have read a bit further. I can't upgrade from Server 2000 only 2003. Clean install it is then. Thanks for your responses.

I have our old DC which has Server 2000 on it. We upgraded last year to a new server with Server 2003. I now have the old server to play with and a copy of Server 2008. My question is, do I upgrade from server 2000 (if thats possible) or go for a clean install. It won't be a DC, I will probably use it as a media and/or application server. I might install Xibo on it and create a digital display for the school. I was tempted to put moodle on it but haven't really got the time to learn it and play around with it at the moment. Your suggestions would be much appreciated.

Have a look at the Five/Gadget Show website. They reviewed some of these cameras not so long ago.
