Any primaries using Read write inc online learning from Oxford Owls? Site seems to be very slow at times.

I think I got round that last time by installing notebook only and leaving the drivers on that worked with an old board.

Just checked our smartboard licence and it's a site licence for smart notebook dating from 2010. What's the newest version I can install without additional cost?

I'm nearly old enough to retire, but we made a life changing financial decision this year (2014) and invested in three properties to rent out, so I'm leaving work and my husband's reducing his days. 2 more grandchildren have added to the decision, so we can enjoy some quality time with them. However, I honestly don't think I could stand much longer in my current job, ICT has such a low profile within school, with everything I do to expand, enhance and make things easier for staff and pupils totally ignored. My plan was to find something, anything actually, with less stress and responsibility. Final straw came when I had to leave work at lunchtime to pick up a sick grandchild up from her school as her mum was in hospital having tests on her 'due any moment' unborn baby and her dad (my son) was at work but on standby to go hospital. I was docked 2 hours pay, now whilst I know grandparents have no work/leave rights, I come into school on my day off when there's a problem, I'm accessible by mobile and email out of hours. Luckily I keep a log of extra hours and was able to fight my corner and have my pay reinstated, due to the fact I was owed more hours than I'd taken

Happy New Year All. Not posted for a while, but still use the forums alot! However, one job in the new year will be to ask for suggestions for interview questions and to add my job to the vacancies forum. I'm handing in my notice and leaving at Easter to do ............................ nothing!

Twice this week our network has suddenly failed, server still running but all computers on the network unable to access shared drives or the internet. 'Fixed it' yesterday by randomly poking around patch cables in the switch cabinet, but today's failure took alot longer to sort. It also took out the Ruckus wireless network, the switch for the access points is in the same comms cabinet. Everything finally burst into life when I removed one patch cable from one of the 3 switches, it's light was flashing slightly differently from all the others and when I took the cable out all the switch lights when crazy but the whole network started working again. Other than the access point switch, all the others are bog standard unmanaged switches, what's the best way to check for a failing switch or loop? I'm going to send tomorrow morning taking all cables out and replacing them one by one, but wondered if there was an easier way. Had to smile through the blood, sweat and tears this afternoon, the entire school staff suddenly become experts on networking and the internet at the first sign of a problem and offer many possible solutions

No - one more question. Probably a silly one but do we have to count pupils and pupil computers in? I mean the suite and classroom computers are they covered by the EES agreement?

I've googled this and am still no wiser as to what I need! We have about 360 pupils, approx 40 staff and about 80 computers. We currently buy OEM licences with new computer purchases and office licences at £35 ea. As we still have some computers that are still Xp and our office version is 2003 I'm now wondering if it's time to bite the bullet and pay for a licensing agreement. Can someone point me in the right direction and if poss a ballpark figure on what we'd expect to pay.

Does anyone use this? If so do you find it slow to unusable at times? We changed from the standard version to the net version last year and haven't been as pleased with it as we expected to be.

Running 2 dcs, server 2008 and server 2003. The 2003 server replicates AD from the 2008, I basically use it to run wsus. The domain administrator account has become corrupted and is logging me on with a temp profile. Not sure how to fix it. All help gratefully received.

Thanks for that, I also need to investigate how to save on a windows network. Any solutions, pitfalls etc?

May take the plunge and invest in ipads, tablets or something equally shiny With a windows 2008 server how or what do we use to enable printing and saving on our current network? I've read up lots but there's nothing like asking the people that have actually done it and made it work in a school.
