Come to thiink of it our Premises Manager had some work done to the CCTV system a couple of monnths ago. I'll have to check with him. This thing, whatever it is, is taking about 2/3 of our incoming bandwidth.

Does anyone know any software (preferably free) for tracking down a rogue device. I have this device in DHCP called 'AD-Converter'. I know the IP address and the MAC address. What I want to know is what it is and where it is. Anyone got any ideas please?

I have a laptop which when I plug a usb device (hard drive or pen drive) into it and try to do a bulk move/copy it hangs. I can move things in small batches but any thing largish makes the whole thing hang and you have to power off rather that reboot to get it started again. I have rebuilt the laptop but that doesn't make a difference. As soon as you do a large move/copy the power to the external hard drive goes and the whole laptop just stops. Any ideas what might be causing this?

What do you mean 'ring word'. How do you do that?

I have a user who's machine is taking 3 or 4 minutes to open a document. It isn't limited to one particular doc, it happens with all (including new). Has anyone had this problem before?.

I have been trying to install Flash player on a PC. It installs when logged on as administrator and runs the specific webpage we are trying to view. When the user logs on and runs the webpage the Flash section doesn't work. I tried downloading and installing Flash player from the user account but it didn't have administrative privileges, so I gave the account the same priveleges as the administrator and it still keep failing with the same error. Has anyone had this problem before? Can you offer some advice please?

If they are not going to be used that often I'd say hire them as well. We had our wireless mics expanded from 4 to 6 and that cost the best part of £1300. Thats without all the amps and mixers. (2 hand held mics and 2 receivers plus commissioning).

Mine are both 2000 mixed mode.

Mine are 2000 for the admin network and 2003 for the curriculum. Hopefully later this year they will both be 2003. A bit behind the times here.

The Admin network is setup a Vlan. Would this make a difference? Its fine for the trust to be for the whole domain.

It's a trust between 2 servers on different domains. Not in different countries or parts of the country but standing next to each other. Users on one domain need access to certain parts of the other.

Hi all I'm after a bit of guidance. I want to set up a trust between our Admin and Pass servers. Is it very difficult? Could someone give me a bit of advice or point me in the direction of a good manual? We had a trust set up in my last school but I didn't have any involvement in that. It was already there. Thanks

The router is built into this Inty server. I can't bypass it. How do you sync the ADSL?

Hi all I'm having some problems with my internet connections recently. The download speed is generally around 1-2 mbs but the upload is attrocious. Anything from 0 to around 30kbs. It sometimes goes higher and went up to 298kbs for about 30 seconds today. My ISP is Pipex and we have Inty as an exoserver sitting in the middle doing our email and web filtering. I have spoken to both and neither can seem to offer any solution. Although there was a recognisable problem on the line yesterday. The line should be a 10mb ADSL line. The router is a generic one in the Inty exoserver. Any suggestions as to something I can be checking from my side that could improve the upload speeds. I have put a new filter in and adjusted the web caching but it is still erratic.

Hi all I keep getting an error every time I try to print. 'An unhandled Win32 exception occurred in spoolsv.exe{4056}' 'An unhandled Win32 exception occurred in spoolsv.exe{264}' 'An unhandled Win32 exception occurred in spoolsv.exe{3544}' There has probaly been some others but these are the most recent. After this I don't see a printer. I find that the local print spooler has normally stopped. I can restart it and see the printers again but as soon as I try to print I get one of these errors. The printer is network attached and anyone else can print to them. I have tried cleaning the registry and thought that had cleared the problem but it's come back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, it's driving me nuts.

The Piaggio's seem favourite in and around London. Have you thought about getting a proper bike rather than a scooter. You could have a top box for storage, maybe even panniers.

Has anybody got a leased line to their school? I've been asked to look into this and find out the cost. Got to admit I don't know much about them. Do you have to use BT, your ISP, the people hosting your managed web security or what? What do I need to be looking for? Is there an alternative? Is this the same a a fibre line? Any help greatly appreciated.
