Still snowing quite a bit and sticking. I wouldn't be surprised if the school shuts early today if it continues. I can hear the Students going crazy as they go to there first lesson.

Well it's well and truely snowing here now! The official line is that if a parent phones in, they are allowed to collect their child now/the child is allowed to go (obviously the kids don't know this!). I have called my Mother, and she's phoning the school in a few mins! :D:D:D

Still snowing here as it has been since early hours and looks like it'll continue for some time (MetCheck site clouds firmly over my region) School is open but the teachers keep checking conditions.

I think the official line came into being because so many parents had already called, and then other kids started phoning their parents! We've not got that many kids, and they're all good :)

Certainly, anyone who wants my Mother to ring their school please send me your school's phone number!!!!!! Service is offered at a minimal charge of one G&T per call :D

Where are you solitaire89? It's pretty heavy in Droitwich now but no plan to close the school.

Kidderminster-ish way... It's pretty much stopped now, but what fell has stuck - it's about 2" by the front gates. They've not shut us, even though half the kids have gone, and cars can't get up the road outside the school!!!

EDIT: Spoke to soon - message through the txt system just arrived; we're closing at 1 :)

That's a bit harsh! Wheelspin by the gate for a bit to prove a point :D

Would do, but I don't have a car :D I don't think I can wheel spin on foot ;) Hoping it's not to bad underfoot to get home (see edited post above!)

I, the bursar, the caretaker and our marketing manager have been out gritting our entire site this morning in the hope of ensuring we are able to open for the start of term tomorrow. (Current temperature -4.1oC according to the Science weather station)

We're not expecting any significant snow here, but our site is on a hill and the paths had all the grip of the Cresta Run. Sheet ice, not good!

snowing like mad on the north west coast. being a tuesday, kids already get to leave at 2.10pm here's hoping they'll decide the staff can too, or cancel school even earlier!

Well I tried to get to work this morning at 7 am. I got onto the main road, which is usually the difficult bit only to find that was even worse. I got a whole 30 metres before I was defeated by a slight incline.

Parked up and made a phone call to see what was what and sure enough school closed. Not always a good thing to aim to get there early :p
