ahuxham Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Snowing here in Evercreech (Somerset) at the moment. Light at the moment, I want full scale blizzards!
leco Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Been snowing here since before dawn - school is open. However, just got a text to say although the school is staying open, if parents wish to collect their children then they can do. Which means that pupils will be leaving in dribs and drabs and the staff will have to wait until all of them have gone.
elsiegee40 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Tskkkk! When I were a lass... Harrogate Grammar never closed for snow... never! The kids who lived up nidderdale got to go home a bit early if their buses came. The rest of us were there until 3.55pm regardless!
leco Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Similar thing for me when at school. I lived on the top of a hill and had to walk many a time - those that lived at the top of the oposite hill got special buses that always came early for them. So here I am in an empty suite - the few pupils that remain are in the hall watching a DVD. The few remaining teachers are attempting to get their cars out of the car park. And still it snows.
DaveMurphy Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 well we have to help the snow a tiny bit... don't we? http://www.stgabriels-rochdale.org.uk/images/stgcps.jpg
googlemad Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Finish in 8 minutes, home via pub, then closed tomorrow. Hope it carries on to make an easy week!
Guest theeldergeek Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Not this side of the Big Man's visit! Ah ha!
Fatmas Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Blue skies here at the moment... Yeah Swindon was pretty clear until an hour or so ago. Dingy and snowy now. Let us hope it snows heavily over night,
tech_guy Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Here in the middle of deepest darkest Warwickshire we closed at 2pm today. I have a 25 mile drive to and from work and the roads were all bleedin' clear. What the hell is wrong with this country!? Still, I got to come home early. Time to watch Deal or No Deal, I think!
spacevortex Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 burst water pipe today, health and safety regulations so everyone had to go home...... well apart from school administrator, science tehcnician and the IT network department.... its brill when the school is empty you get so much done....

Sylv3r Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 We are only open for years 10, 11, 12 and 13 tomorrow after being closed for the last two days for the whole school - its just started to snow again so fingers crossed I'll be sending another text out in the morning for a change of plan!!! )

Ditto, they let us go at 2 and i was able to do 60 on the motorway. They even shut the school tomo which is unheard of
Andrew_C Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Coming down quite hard in Winchester. One main road is shut for BR to replace a bridge; means all traffic to the south has to go up nasty hill. Slow crawl up behind automatic Volvo, I would have been fine.
