Singist Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Hmmm, I have just been sat in my car eating lunch whilst watching a pretty impressive tornado sitting above Winter Hill on the West Pennines near Bolton. Anyone else ever seen such extreme weather?

This was before i was Technician, i remember looking out my office window thinking "hmm, i wonder why the rain is going sideways..." luckily i wasn't near where it hit, but the devastation was shocking! It was like the footage you see from America.

CyberDrac Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Just had the most intense but short thunderstorm I've seen in a while, unfortunately it's soaked about 30 machines sat adjacent to open windows, so I guess that they'll be drying out overnight and we'll see how many still work tomorrow.

It was like the footage you see from America. 2005 wasn't it? I remember this... I couldn't get home from work. I got off the bus early because a normal half an hour journey had already taken over two hours, I knew it'd be quicker to walk. I got to a junction where the police stopped me from passing. I asked how I was going to get home because all of my options were blocked off by them and they said "I really have no idea". I went back to work for a couple of hours, by which time it had cleared off the roads a bit.

garethEds Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 This may sound weird and nobody ever believes me but I can tell if there is a storm coming because I get a headache. I've always been the same. Once the pressure outside changes I get this dull throbbing headache. I never thought anything of it - it just always happens - but then there was an article in the Daily Mail. Our storm will be here later - I can feel it. Maybe it's time to join the circus. GJE

CHR1S Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 The tornado in Brum passed within a few meters of the school I worked at back then. It was very surreal, eveything fell dead and then all of a sudden these huge winds seemed to suck the trees, leaves, rubbish and anything light enought to be affected towards the direction of the tornados path. I never actually saw the tornado but the effects were scary I would hate to be in the middle of it.
