Weird Weather

The tornado in Brum passed within a few meters of the school I worked at back then.

It was very surreal, eveything fell dead and then all of a sudden these huge winds seemed to suck the trees, leaves, rubbish and anything light enought to be affected towards the direction of the tornados path. I never actually saw the tornado but the effects were scary I would hate to be in the middle of it.

 

Which school was that? There was a school on the Stratford road not far out of town which took a hit very badly... was closed for quite a bit afterwards while they did major repairs to the roof.

We have had torrential rain for the last couple of hours and the school is leaking like a sieve.

I never actually saw the tornado but the effects were scary I would hate to be in the middle of it.

 

I'll never forget one ripping half of our roof off whilst I was inside the house. We were lucky, the neighbours garage collapsed ontop of their car and other houses came off worse. It only lasted a matter of seconds but the windows, doors and even walls seem to shake quite hard - an experience you never forget.

 

I'm just thankful I didn't get sucked up to Oz!

Plenty of water and hail before I left work, the roof was certainly sounding not too good, flippin flat roofs! We will have some floods no doubt, I should have gone and moved some kit from our DT Room that flooded a bit since when they had flash flooding as it ALWAYS leaks right over some dis-boards and network switches Hey ho maybe a nice big Insurance Job (rats should have moved the entire server rack under it )

Biblical weather about 1 oclock. Water gushing into the school and up through the toilets making it horribly smelly down the corridors.

 

One room got flooded really badly which holds my smoothwall server.... it was under 6 inch of water when I got into it so I spent a couple of hours mopping it up and have left a couple of air conditioning units drying it out overnight.

 

All in all.. a bad day

By the time I left last night about 6 the school was an island.

 

Watton had a lot of flooding yesterday.

Hmmm, I have just been sat in my car eating lunch whilst watching a pretty impressive tornado sitting above Winter Hill on the West Pennines near Bolton. Anyone else ever seen such extreme weather?

 

It passed over Chorley and we had 40 mins of what could be described as biblical flood weather. I went to Lancaster in the afternoon, and they hadn't had a drop!

The raspberrys in our back garden need a good soak though :/

All this freaky weather = bad news.

I had a call from my boss last Wednesday to say come into work there are a few things that have got wet!

When i arrived this is what i saw:

This may sound weird and nobody ever believes me but I can tell if there is a storm coming because I get a headache

 

I had a mate who had exactly the same thing - every time there was a storm coming he got a blinding headache. It was either something to do with blocked sinuses & sudden drop in air pressure pre-storm, or else it was because he was a miserable git. I suspect the latter.

Blimey there was nothing biblical this end. That's shocking! At most we had a bit of rain and a crack of thunder every now and then.

I dont know about anyone else but I'm still trying to figure out what this 'Lunch' thing is that Singist mentioned.

 

Seriously though we've not had anything extreme down here...got overcast yesterday with some pretty impressive cloud formations but it just blew over and the sun came out again. At the moment I'm sat in the back garden soaking up the sun again....not in work today as my daughter broke her over the weekend and ended up having it pinned and plated as well...that'll teach her not to use just her front brake when out on her bike!!

Yeah, the rain seemed to be from Chorley southwards. My house in Preston got a light passing shower, and that was it!
