I've just run through the process of it and it has worked well. Deployment via PDQDeploy has been good. I used a powershell script to stop and delete the task schedule for the old update process then another script to remove the application (as shown on the docs). The biggest issue I have is the install script not coming to an end. Everything has been deployed. I did have an issue with the .bat file not ending, but you can edit this for the type of deployment you want. I had to uncomment the install command for silent install. Otherwise - all good.

HI All, We are considering the move to InTune this year (LEA/Hwb Cymru push maybe) but the PaperCut server is a red line that is stopping us move now. We have an on-site PaperCut server. We are not part of the LEA print SLA and went alone for reasons that are not important here. How do people that have migrated to InTune make use of their on-site PaperCut server (if they have one) - is it possible? Or are we better asking PaperCut to host the server in the cloud as well? I'm not sure Hwb will let us have our own and we may be expected to revert to the LEA centrally hosted print server. Looking forward to responses.

The Hwb tech group is good. There is an online meeting as well which you can attend. It's usually LEA people although I occasionally drop in - despite not being a Hwb domain school. My issue with it all - and I'm happy to publicly say it - we don't know who is making all the decisions that affect schools. I cannot find the chain of command. Another example - we pulled out of the LEA print service. We have our own PaperCut server and our own contract with KM. Yet from what I've been told, Hwb will allow one print server per LEA. This means we cannot have our own print server connected to our machines. I've thought about putting it on the Papercut cloud - but am yet to me told whether this would be allowed. The print issue is the main red line for us as yet. Once that is in place I'm going to start the move.

I'm currently reading The Chimp Paradox by Prof' Steve Peters. It's helped me a bit with my running and tri training.

Ooooo - that made me jump. Especially as I had two - first in Welsh and then in English two minutes later.

So tonight we watched Mando and Grogu. As a Star Wars fan I really enjoyed it. Some really bad special effects in there but the XWings at the end were great to see. XWings have always been my favourite fighter and always pull a squeak of excitement from me when I see them on the screen flying into battle. Reminds me to rebuild my Lego version. What to watch next now....... anything but horror.

I've watched two movies this week. Brief review: Devil Wears Prada 2 : I just love Anne Hathaway. I admit to enjoying the first film and this one was a bit too cheesy - but it was a 'turn off your brain and watch' film. Watched on TV. Would not have paid cinema prices to see it. Spiderman (Brand New Day) : Cinema for this one on Saturday. Enjoyed the film and the concentration on one character rather than it being a full 'let's bring in all the Marvel characters' sort of film. TH plays Spidey well and Zendaya is cool in everything she does. My biggest gripe - just too long. Could have cut at least 40 minutes off. Also - we didn't see it in 3D so the scenes of spider-webbing through the streets was lost on me and not needed. I'm not a fan of films in 3D. Next on my list os Mandalorian and Grogu.

Wondering how others are getting on testing it. We installed the 1.2 version and got it working well. Then when we tired to install the latest over the top it failed and broke it all. So I've had to re-create the server. I've installed the latest version clean and it's not gone too well. As it was a test server I didn't bother with a backup as I was happy to learn what is happening before migrating to a production server. Silly me. Didn't even take a snapshot. Doing this remotely - so might start again when I get back to work in September.

Hi @Devaleth - thanks. I found this one last night, but it doesn't tell me which pupil they belong to. I could click on each one to see, but that would take ages.

Evening All - LEA help are shut at this time (but I'm still working!) - can anyone recommend a report in Bromcom that lists: 1. Parents who have downloaded the MCAS application or have accessed MCAS (either via Web or App) - also the last time they logged in? 2. Same for students with the Student Portal app - and the last time they logged in Headteacher has asked for these reports with the Name, Form class etc all in there. Maybe someone could expert a report definition and send it over? All before I start looking into it tomorrow. Cheers all. Gareth

Thanks for coming back to me. In fairness to 2Pint - they have offered us a discount - but it's still too much money for what is not going to be used that often. I'm interested in what you paid and for how many endpoints.

@geohanson - Having just posted on reddit about the pricing model of this software for schools, I wonder how you managed to convince the budget holders that this was worth the price you paid (how much did you pay?) Cheers

I'm hearing that there are LEAs in Wales that are regretting moving their ADs to Hwb InTune. Of course I doubt anyone would admit openly, but from speaking to some people across LEAs - a few are not happy. I'm unsure what to do. The case of one-size fits all isn't sitting well with me - but it does give us the protection of being on a centrally controlled system.

We are closed tomorrow (only tomorrow for now). My wife and children are off tomorrow and Thursday, but then they have Friday/Monday inset. All our local Primary schools seem to be closed. My Son is going to The Cure concert in Cardiff tomorrow night - I really hope that is cancelled. Seems a bit stupid to let that carry on.

Cheers @geohanson - I was in your neck of the woods this week, staying in Burnley and visiting family in Haslingden (and Bacup). I've seen this ps script before somewhere. Will have to read back. I just wanted to avoid deleting everything. I'm wondering if I could add the DeployR server as an owner to all current machines in the AD to see if that worked. Something like discussed here (even though it hasn't worked): Changing Owner on AD Objects via Powershell or DSACLS - Software & Applications - Spiceworks Community Will have to check what the DeployR owner is called.

This is the email I had today when I asked about Non-Profit pricing. We do not have that sort of money. Companies really need to research their target market a bit more. Thar first sentence is the kicker for me "that's exactly where the Enterprise edition is designed to help" - almost makes you think they know exactly what they are doing when they limit certain things. Perhaps I'm being too negative here and I understand people need to get paid. It's not as if the software does much really - beyond deploy machines. I don't understand why they need to price per endpoint. Just sell me a cheaper support package that isn't based on endpoints- Once it's set up, I doubt it will get used much - and I doint there will be much support asked for. I don't have the time or the energy to make it work. If they want to give back to the community then schools need to be looked after a bit more.

I agree totally and have raised this with them. They offered a discount but even that was an amount too large for what the software does. We're muddling through with the Community Version but there is that one little annoyance of re-deploying a machine already in the AD. Little things make all the difference. I'm of the opinion that education (schools) - should be free - wrong opinion maybe but there we are. Gareth

Fair comment. I'm not good enough with Powershell to write my own scripts that do certain things. I was happy when one of their developers pointed me to a script he had written and actually thought "Yay"!!! - but then he messaged me to say he didn't realise we were on the Community Version. The lack of being able to re-image a currently joined machine is a red line for us. I don't really want to delete all my machines from AD just to re-image. However I'm sure one of the posts I've read said we could give the machines a new 'owner' which would let them write what is needed to the AD.... Or did I dream that? Cheers

Hi @AlexB - I've asked them about public sector and it is the enterprise version but a bit cheaper. Still too expensive for my school with 700 endpoints at £4.50 each per year. Way out of our league. They will not give us the Public Sector version without support. This is the response I got: So I'm trying to make do with the Community version but it's missing some functionality that makes it equal to MDT (at the moment). I've had a few bits of advice on Reddit about naming machines and re-deploying those already in our AD, but the advice required Server Side Powershell Scripting. It there is another way then there are too many gaps in my knowledge to figure it out. I just need it to work. Ideally they would sell support packages that are not based on Endpoints. They need to realise that school funding is harsh - especially here in Wales. £500 for a simple support package would bring more schools rather then £4.50 per endpoint for 700 (£3150) - we don't have it.
