Morning all - we've just had our Veeam renewal cost and it's jumped to a point I don't think it is affordable. What are you all using? Before I push for the funding I just wondered if there is something else of the same quality and ease of use that you guys may use. Cheers

Is the Public Sector version free -0 I doubt it. We were quoted over £2.5k for an Enterprise licence. I cannot afford that at the moment - if ever. Shame they do not give the enterprise version free to schools, as long as we prove we are a school. Gareth

Well well well - small world. Are you community or Enterprise version?

Funnily enough we are using a script from gwblok - advised on the reddit group. However it is a server side script and the Community Version does not allow server side scripting - which has brought my current branch of work to an end - unless I can find another way of doing it.

Well - we are up and running with a test machine deployed. Wish it had a database in there of machine names matched to MAC address/Serial Number like MDT did - but depends on what you are looking for. Anyhow - we are deployed (with serial number machine names) and domain joined. Next step now is to do machine names based on either of the above. Deployment of a bare metal Windows 11 25H2 machine was smooth. Drivers downloaded from the cloud as did updates. Was quite quick as well. So - our MDT/WDS server has now been retired and iPXE is working too.

Hi @bobsmith - it's both. I wanted to speak to schools that had assessment structures in place from 3-18 using Bromcom.

Not going very well at the moment - downloaded the main package but installation is not going through as it should. It's downloading all dependencies except the ADK components from https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2289980 The site works in a browser but the DeployR installer simply refuses to connect to it and download. I've got our LEAs looking at it as all other dependencies are coming through. Even if I install it before running DeployR the software doesn't check and goes on to download (and fail) anyway. Waiting for Reddit Community Support now - but a similar post there suggests it is our firewall blocking the download from within the installer - despite it going through the web browser with no issues.

@AlexB - Cheers Pal. Our licence code just arrived via email. I'll get onto it tomorrow now and start installing the Community version from scratch. Will report back when I've done. G

I emailed them earlier and put a push on it. I've been told my licence file/code will arrive in the next 24/48 hours. I've been told to remove the enterprise version as they cannot co-exist on the same server and one will not overwrite the other. So I've prepped my server and re-downloaded the community version ready for install.

Cheers @AlexB - have been re-reading a lot this week. Just frustrating that they won't send out a licence file/code. I want it now whilst exams are ending and time is a bit quieter.

Not yet. I did start looking at FFU but exams and other stuff got in the way.

The community version of DeployR has been released. You have to apply for the Community Licence and you may get an email saying it's a staged roll out - but it is out in the wild now. I've trialled the Enterprise version and it was very good. Bit of a ball ache to setup but we got there just before the trial run out.

Afternoon all - are there any schools here that are using WhatsApp Business to take parental queries - possibly using AI to provide answers? It's something that just landed on my radar after dealing with a builders yard over the weekend. I'd be interested to chat with you if you have done it, are doing it or thinking about doing it. Morning All - A really naive question from me (a county bumkin) - I am taking my Son to the O2 Brixton Academy in a few weeks. We are travelling from South Wales (Swansea) and need to be at the venue by 7pm. We are not leaving South Wales until around 1pm. We have two options - drive up, see the concert and then drive back or drive up, stay at a hotel, visit the concert and then come back the next day. Option 2 is his preferred but I have no idea where to stay. Usually when I travel to London I get to the Bath Road Premier Inn (Heathrow) and tube in from there to everywhere. It's the hotel I am most confident with. I thought abut doing this and getting the tube to the tube station near the Brixton Academy - but how easy would it be go get back? I'll start researching it all later - but wanted to ask here for first hand experience. Cheers Gareth

We use parkplace and they have a remote monitoring solution for our servers and even our old P2000 SAN which is going well. I am often emailed about an issue before I've had chance to see it myself.

For our exams that needed recording, we purchased iPads, stands and microphones. They have worked very well with instruction given to staff that any recording had to be uploaded to their OneDrive at the end of every day. I refuse to guarantee their work at the end of the day if they have not uploaded 🙂 (harsh maybe).

This is not really what I want - yes to send messages to the App - and only the app. I don't want to use SMS at all. It's a shame if we cannot do that. If I choose email them that doesn't go to the app. This is the window I see - I wonder if it would work if we had no SMS credits.

Have asked this on the Bromcom Community but hoping for quicker answers..... Cheers everyone - feel I am missing something obvious.
