  1. Thanks everyone for the ideas. We've tried everything and now believe it to be the motherboard. Richard (school technician) has taken everything out - cleaned it up and even reapplied some thermal compound to the processor in case it was the processor heating up. One of the machines has come back to life and has been up and running for the past two hours. The other machines are showing issues so I'll have a chat with him and report back here for people. Cheers everyone Gareth
  2. Yes I see what you are saying but when new stock is aquired for the warehouse there is an initial quantity sent to the shops. I was going to transfer the item data over to the stores table automatically (or was thinking of it). I'm just looking for a simple way to show the pupils. The gaps in my knowledge astound me. I hate having to learn so many packages as IT Coordinator - but yet do not have the time to fully master any of them. Gareth
  3. Here's one for you.... I have an query in Access 2007 which takes data from a form and adds it to a stock table. This works fine and dandy. What I'm searching for (currently Googling) is a way of sending that new data to 6 other tables (individual shops). Each of the 6 tables has a different name e.g. tblStockBristol, tblStockCardiff etc Basically in this database when you purchase a new item for the warehouse, the stock list for each individual shop needs to be updated as well. Got me searching for a while now so maybe someone can think quicker. Gareth
  4. Hi Sinack, I've been looking for them all morning :-) There must be an interface reset button somewhere. I keep resizing my window as I'm running W7/Access2007 in a Parallels for Mac window. Gareth
  5. Hmm - maybe I'm missing something, but I'm designing my forms small (as in the screen shot) - yet they are opening up full screen. Hopefully the pictures below can show what I am experiencing. I assumed as in Access 2003 that the window (when not in design mode) would open the same size. Gareth
  6. Hi Guys, When I'm creating forms in Access 2007 they open up full screen - even if they are small forms. In Access 2003 they used to open up at the size they were designed. Does anyone know how to make them open up at the smaller size and set it as default on a per form basis? Cheers Gareth
  7. Okay - I can work with the LEA with this, but does it mean I can install a local copy in school and have it look after my part of the OU? I seem to be missing this in the technet article you quote. Gareth
  8. Our LEA have an enterprise domain - as such every school is has it's own OU which is controlled by the school. We have domain admin control over our school OU but we do not have enterprise admin. Is it possible to install a local copy of SCCM in the school and have it look after our OU branch of the enterprise domain or does it have to be installed at the top level and so look after the whole domain? Does that make sense? Can we have a local install of SCCM? Gareth
  9. We are seeing an issue with some Stone Machines around 4 years old - out of warranty so Stone will not send an engineer. WOnder if anyone can help. We turn the machines on with the power button, two lights come on at the front and then the machine dies. Stone suggested we open them up, reseat everything, air blast etc, remove USB devices etc. All done but it's a no go. We tried changing the power supply in one machine with a working one but it still happened (so I guess we can rule out the power supply). Any ideas what else we can try? It seems to be happening a lot to Stone machines from this 4 year old period. Gareth
  10. or not... What a great video. Gareth

  12. As Head of ICT in a school this is just how it should be. Gareth
  13. Well not a defeat but I was play wrestling with my nephew the other day (he is 10). I was letting him win of course so he managed to climb on top of me and sat on my head before letting out an almighty fart! We cried laughing but boy was it smelly. Well owned there I was. Gareth
  14. Interestingly enough I know of someone who installed Windows 7 SP1 through Windows Update and it disabled their gfx card. One rollback later and everything was fine. They downloaded the full version and it installed fine. Gareth
  15. Discuss here if you are watching... Take That - not amazing but I'm going to see them in June so hopefully they will practice. James Cordon - don't like him much anyway. Adele - that voice is amazing and if listened to at the wrong time could reduce me to tears. Her face just shows so much emotion. Justin Bieb - don't see what the fuss is about. The girls do so each to their own. I don't think he is that talented. Rihanna - OMG - looked amazing as always. Struggled with her backing track. I like her music and her :-) Ellie Goulding - Great stuff. Great album. Mark Ronson - was that Mark Ronson? So cool. Jessie J - I like her tunes. Spoke differently to what I expected her to (Based on her first video) Tinie Tempah - I like his tunes. Wonderman with Ellie Goulding is good even if it just for her voice and not his. Written in the STars is also a great song. I've also danced my night away listening to 'Miami to Ibiza'. Mumford and Sons - Amazing album. Sounded good live. Plan B - cool. Laura Marling - whooooo? Time to google. Arcade Fire - Amazing. Robbie Williams - Shabba? Shut up you idiot - you are not funny. More to add.....
  16. Well I sussed it out in the end - took a bit but I got there. For some reason beyond me whoever installed this software installed it in two places - one installation on the C drive and one on the E drive (which holds the spool directory). I took over this stuff as it wasn't being run properly (or setup properly). I installed the update onto the C drive as there was a directory there and everything was pointing to that. What I didn't do was update the version which I later found on the E drive. This E drive installation is the one I should be using - so once I updated this installation everything fell into place. I could honestly swing for whoever installed it and didn't document the installation procedure. Still I've learnt a lot :-) Thanks everyone but no need to worry or look now. I appreciate your time, Gareth
  17. Is there anyone running this software on their network and are up to version 2.1.2c of the Management software on the server? We were upgraded last night and are having errors in the logs. As such the MFDs cannot connect to the server. Here is an extract of the error message: ==> START Konica Minolta Pcounter Embedded II Version 2.1.0.12 ==> AUTH: Unable to start Listening on port 50002 (Unable to find the DeviceCommunicationSetting.ReceiveSetting.CertificateFilePath parameter.) If anyone has seen this I'd love to hear how they sorted it. Many thanks Gareth
  18. So to get sme clarity on the matter I asked the school technician what this was and this is what I got: "This is not straight forward, it is difficult to explain without explaining the functionality with processors. I found a wiki that explains a form of "caching" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory-mapped_I/O" Does this make sense? Obviously I'm not technican enough to understand what he is on about - but I've never heard the term rom cache in the 12 years I've been teaching and fixing PCs. Gareth
  19. We are looking at Aruba at the moment as our LEA has negotiated a discount with the supplier. I'm only looking to put in 4APs at the moment but will be getting the 16 port version of the control switch. Gareth
  20. Our school currently uses the edugeek template but I've been toying with the idea of moving it to another template but I don't know how to design my own (yet) - plus I don't have a clue how to go about it (book ordered). Has anyone got a really cool template that they've seen about and are using? I don't mind paying for it and so on (the school will) - but something funky, that might suit a secondary school etc - you know the drill. There are so many templates out there I ust don't know which one to purchase. What do you guys use - besides the Geek one, Gareth
  21. Afternoon Has anyone looked at this from Microsoft for use in an internal environment? Microsoft Web Platform - Server, IIS, Internet Information Services and Microsoft WebMatrix Looks fun for a club or even for use in lessons. Gareth
  22. Excellent, maybe we could do something with them. I'll PM you. GJE
  23. Cheeky request but I wonder if anyone has any old laptop power cables for some Toshiba SatPro 120 laptops. They are to be used in a primary school. Current powerpack model number: PA3377E-2ACA I think the part number is: G71C0004A510 Or failing that recommend somewhere that does them at a good price. Cheers guys Gareth
  24. HI Finch7, No - never sorted this out. It then went on the back burner as we got to a stage were all our machines were pre-staged with a batch file. I will be looking at it again when we upgrade our WDS server to 2008R2 later in the year and moving to MDT. Sorry about that Gareth
  25. We have a few computers here that are playing up. The techie tells me that Stone tell him there is an issue with the "rom cache". The machines don't turn on. I've googled this but not found anything. Anyone enlighten me? Many thanks, Gareth
