At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, we purchased 80 Lenovo Yoga 13 Gen 1 laptops with touch screen/pen. They have 8Gb and 128Gb M2 - they are still going strong and we've not mad many failures. The main failure has been the dying of the cmos battery which I have been replacing as they go. Oh and a few have had one of the power sockets get a bit loose - but the second USB C socket charges the laptop so a bit of tape covers the broken one. Some newer staff have refurbed Yoga 13 Gen 2 devices with 8Gb and 256GB storage. We've been really happy with them.

To add to this - managed to get fields to hide for subjects not taken but it still leaves the blank page. a bug?

Afternoon everyone, In SIMS we could tag a Word file to show the beginning and ending of a page. These tags were <<Report Section> and <</Report Section>> Does Bromcom have something similar? I'm having a bit of a nightmare with my merge document putting tables all over the place. Thanks Gareth

Morning - I am in the process of migrating our school reports from SIMS to Bromcom. Ideally we want the same format. I've made the template bit am hitting an issue with the merge fields in that I can only have 200 of them merged in (for a whole full school report). I need 255 merge fields. Has anyone come across this limit before? If so - have you got around it anyway? Cheers Gareth

Slow but working.

Good morning, If you are a school using ClassCharts are you having issues with loading year groups into Analytics > Attendance > Display All - and then entering a specific year group into the 'Show All Years' search box? Since 4th November we have been unable to show Year 10. We still cannot show Year 10 specific data. Today (and a few days) we've been unable to show any specific year. Support is basically so slow and despite being old it's reached second line support however "The team is very busy at the moment so it is taken them a lot longer then they would like to reach out to customers, they just want to make sure they are providing the best service possible." They are failing to provide the best service possible. Are we the only school with this issue or are others having problems? Cheers

Ahh right - well that's a big red cross. What about everything else

Evening all - I was told today that PaperCut Hive has had a big improvement/update that makes it more suitable for secondary schools. Can anyone confirm this for me? Are there any secondary schools out there using it? If so - I'd love a chat. Thanks

I've done this - but am unsure where the HoD now sees them. Did you give any permissions?
-
Hi @Seb1780 - yes, I've taken the date out - but the marksheets still show. I would have hoped that when you mark them as completed they would disappear from the 'Overview' widget but still be available via other methods. As for the HODs - mine cannot see any marksheets from her department - and I cannot understand why. What did you do to make them available?

Good morning, Some Bromcom questions to those who have way more time invested in the system than I do. Hope someone can help... 1. Marksheets - We have sent out marksheets to staff with a 'completion date' of 4/11/2025. This has passed and all marksheets have been set as completed. Yet they are still showing up on the 'Overview' screen with a big red message saying they are overdue. Is there a way of removing them from the overview screen without disabling the marksheet? If I disable it - it goes, but staff still want to have access to it. 2. Heads of Dept - HOD wants access to all the marksheets in the department. There are 7 in the department. How can I make it so the HOD can see all marksheets for that subject? I've changed a permission to allow marksheet viewing, but this gives them access to every marksheet in the school. Not what I want at all. Many thanks Gareth

Sorry to bring this up from 2022 - do you know which permissions I need to set on the HOD options?

Good morning - a question for Bromcom users regarding Access Arrangements. We have followed the instructions to import Access Arrangements for our Year 10/11 pupils that need special consideration by following this: How to Import Access Arrangements in Bulk – Bromcom – Documentation Centre They have imported successfully and show in the Student Information Window (when we access it). However they do not show in the Exam Module for that pupil. It seems we should have put them in via the Exam Module first and they would have come through to the pupil. So it looks like despite importing them, we need to re-enter them a second time for them to show in the Exam module. Does this sound right? Surely if we import them as per that instruction document then any part of the system should be able to access the information. It's probably a simple permission somewhere - but I cannot find it. Any help appreciated

Evening All, I find myself tearing my hair out with Bromcom this evening - not through a fault of the MIS I'm sure. So here I am asking for some help. Teachers have graded pupil in Year 11 with their current GCSE grade. This is in Wales, so we have A*, A, B, C, D, E, F, G. So 15-30 pupils in 15 or so subjects. Teachers have completed the marksheets and all the data is in there. I now need a report that calculates percentages of A*A, A*-C and A*-G for every subject and present it in a table. A grade analysis for this set of results. I thought I had it - and I do - sort of. I can get the break down of each grade as a %age, but I want the 3 I gave in the previous sentence (A*A, A*-C and A*-G) - I'm hoping someone has an idea as I don't want to have to export everything into Excel and do it from there. Was hoping someone may have a report definition I can steal and adapt? Or some advice? Many thanks Gareth

Veeam - Copy Full Backup to Second Location
garethEds replied to newpersn's topic in Enterprise Software
We just robocopy our backup drive to another drive in another part of the school over the weekend when usage is at 0. Would this work? -
Azure for Students - Anyone use this in their schools?

Sounds interesting - any links or advice @steve on where to go to set this up? -
Evening All, We are planning the migration from on-site domain to the inTune provision given to us by Hwb Cymru. It all seems clear on where we should be going and how we should be doing it, but I am concerned about file stores. On our current domain we have a 'Media' drive and a 'Video' drive. These are shared storage areas on a file store. They are quite large. I'm not sure what to do with them. With our department shared areas, they have been moved to a Teams created by the Head of Department. Some shared areas have been moved to a Head of Departments OneDrive as a shared folder - and we have shut down these on-site shares. But these two areas (media/videos) are giving me a headache. I've been told that they need to be kept available. Where can I put them? What have other people done? Is there storage on Azure for this sort of thing or am I barking up the wrong tree there? I'm sure we have Sharepoint storage somewhere - but our shared areas are too large for that. Cheers GJE

Evening all - can anyone tell me if PaperCut Hive has caught up with PaperCut MF yet? Restrictions on the Hwb network here in Wales mean we will not be able to have our own print server as they want one per LEA. We are not part of the LEA's printing SLA and have our own printer server. Wondering if PaperCut Hive would be a way around this. Cheers Gareth

We looked at PDQConnect but it was too expensive compared to the two pieces of software. It's something i may look into again - in fact I'm going to do it now. Gareth
-
PDQDeploy can be free for a certain amount of deployments I think (cannot remember). However I feel it is one of the best pieces of software we pay for - well worth the money. We also have Inventory. I won't go into it here as there are plenty of threads on Edugeek about it. Gareth
-
Excellent - if you need anything - let me know.
-
Send me an email address and I'll send it to you. I sorted out our install this week. We had the same problem that you did - the document downloading the wrong version. Not sure how I found the right version - but I did. Our version works great now and is deployed via PDQ Deploy. It sends the admin installer, copies a script file over for the autoupdate and sets the task scheduler to check for updates. Works well - but since I created it all - there have been no updates that I am aware of. Time will tell if the work has all been successful. Gareth

Yes - cover supervisor said it kept freezing when logging in - but it could have been a Microsoft issue with SSO.
-
Ahhhhhh gotcha - any advice on max/min length?
-
Ahh right - I cannot create a 'Comment' assessment type. I have Grade Set Mark Set Key Stages Terms
